The owner squeezed us in, came to the house and repaired the blind in less than an hour.

He's expensive. I would use him again because he's convenient. He's a little expensive but you get the time and all the work. I had him about a year ago and I need to have him come in again because someone broke other blinds. I plan to call him up. I got his name through another guy who used to repair my blinds. He did everything great.

We have 4 wooden blinds in our home office and the cloth tape on the largest one of them had deteriorated because of use and the sunlight hitting it. We didn't want to have to replace 4 blinds because of a problem with one of them. I called Sam at Broken Blinds and he told me what to expect in the way of cost and time. He came out with samples of the cloth tape and removed the blind that needed repair. He also hung pleated paper temporary blinds in its place. We heard from him a few days later to let us know that the tape we had picked out was more expensive than he expected. Sam sincerely felt bad that the final price would be higher than the one he quoted us on the phone (before he saw the blind or we picked out the tape). He insisted that we only pay his cost for the tape. We let him know that we were fine with him including his normal profit on the tape. Sam was determined to take care of us, however, and didn't feel right about charging more. Two weeks later he called to say that the blind was ready and that he could stop by within the hour if it was convenient with us.
He rehung the repaired blind. The new tape made the blind look brand new. He also made a couple of minor repairs on two of our other blinds -- no charge. In addition he gave me advice on some blinds in two other rooms that I wanted to change out. He doesn't sell blinds, but he knows blinds very well, so his advice was much appreciated.
We like the job he did so much, we've decided to have him come back in a couple of weeks and replace the tape on the 3 smaller blinds in our office. However, he'll have to charge us the full price for the tape :)
If all service people operated their business like Sam does, there would be no need for Angie's List. He is very nice, ethical, helpful, fair and honest.

Sam was professional, punctual, and conscientious about our carpet. The cord on our 23 yr old blinds broke up inside the header - Sam replaced the cord and even replaced a missing pull. THEN, he took down another set of blinds and checked them. He made an effort to make sure we were pleased with the work (which we were). Yes, it was not inexpensive, but the job was done efficiently and to our satisfaction. We would definitely hire him again.

Of all of the different services a consumer could ask for how many of us would be looking for a company to replace the draw strings on blinds or custom draperies? Well, I had quite a challenge trying to find a company that would do either. My challenge was that we have beautiful custom shades, with liners, that shield the sun from coming in our rooms. We are constantly lowering and raising the shades. Well our draw strings broke and we had to keep the shades in one position.
My wife and I called a lot of companies. Most of them said they could not do it. Some of the companies wanted to replace our shades.
Since we had paid so much to install them, originally, we did want the additional expense of replacing them.
I found "Broken Blind Company" through Angie's List. The first thing that I found, on my call, to the owner, Sam Michaelson, was that.
Sam actually listened to my needs. How many times have you heard that? Actually, almost never. Sam asked me when it would be convenient to come over. I said, "how about tomorrow". Sam said that he could accomodate me. The next day Sam visited, my home, in Aliso Viejo. He inspected the work and gave me a written estimate. When I told him that I was satisfied with the price, I asked him when he could get started. He said right away.
Within an hour, Sam had restrung my four windows. The chords he placed, on the shades, were stronger, than the original ones. I was pleased with the experience and asked for his cards for referrals.
Sam and his company, Broken Blinds, provided me with the quality of service and price that we should expect. I was lucky to find Sam. However, he will always be on the top of my list for this hard to find service that we all need from time to time.

The blind now operates very smoothly and works better than it has in years. Sam was extremely professional, meticulous and conscientious in his work, and the cost was very reasonable. Broken Blinds is highly recommended.

Excellent communication on setting the appointment, arrival time and how to repair the shades. Sam was professional, prompt and knew exactly what he was doing! He suggested a different type of plastic puller in case the cords became twisted in the future...no extra charge. He also suggested installing cord holders...no extra chage for them either.

Sam was easy to reach and arrived at the house punctually. On each of the two visits, I declined his offer to wear booties. He laid a canvas cloth on the floor on which to work on the shades. He was fastidious in his work and explained exactly what he was doing. He was also very clear in his communication. Now I'm very happy with the ease with which I can raise and lower that rather large shade that no longer sticks and hesitates when being lowered!

Referral from a retail window treatment establishment. I telephoned Sam and left a brief message. He returned my call within 10-minutes, quoted me an estimate, and we scheduled the work for the following morning. Later in the day, Sam called and said that he had an unexpected opening in his schedule and offerred to perform the work today. I accepted his offer, and Sam arrived within an hour. He competed the work in a little less than an hour. The finished product is great! The combination of Sam's customer service and quality of work would be hard to beat!

The owner of 'Broken Blinds", Mr. Michelson was prompt and courteous. He offered to wear shoe covers while performing his work......This is a big deal for me. It tells me right away that the contractor is professional and cares about my home. Although our vertical blinds were misaligned quite badly, Mr. Michellson was able to repair them and they are functioning properly. "Brken Blinds?" is a very professional company and the prices are very reasonable. Highly recommended.

Over the years the cords on our wood blinds have shortened...getting twisted from years of pulling them up and down. A couple of the wands have broken off from over-aggressive treatment, too. I emailed Sam and got a quick response, saying he was on vacation and would be back in a week. He asked if he could come and take care of it then. We agreed to be in touch on his return. He was true to his word, we set a time and he arrived promptly. He was pleasant and efficient. Did a great job, too!
