Owner Nick Scott is a nice guy. I chose him to be my contractor based on a third-party reference from my real estate agent and a review of Yelp and Angie's List which revealed no reviews/comments. Also, I checked out his licenses, insurances, etc. Additionally, Nick was very responsive to my questions and his prices seemed reasonable. Further, he seemed willing to work collaboratively and to give me his opinion along the way to make sure I was making the most of my renovation dollar. And then, the work began and it went downhill very fast. The quality of workmanship was very very poor. He ran more almost two weeks over his estimated finish time as I had to have him repeatedly redo/fix sub-par work (mostly involving his tile work). Every quality issue I called to his attention came with an associated excuse why it wasn't his fault. Examples: Uneven tiles -- not his fault as the wall was not straight; Leaky drain pipes in both bathrooms-- not his fault, pipes are manufactured to improper sizes these days; Hot and cold water reversed in shower -- not his fault, condo unit must have been originally plumbed incorrectly; Lights in master bathroom now only worked when guest bathroom lights are on -- well, ok, there was no excuse for this one... In the end it just wasn't worth going back-and-forth on trying to fix the vast number of problems anymore (note: I went by the condo almost every day after work and also took two vacation days so as too to oversee the rework). Nick is now gone. Currently, I am doing some of the necessary rework myself and also my real estate agent's brother in-law is helping as well. I have spent most of this weekend working on fixing issues and I hope the condo should be ready for sale in 2 more days. I am afraid my $15,000 in "upgrades" is in fact going to lower my resale value as the quality of the workmanship is so low. In closing: Please see the attached pictures and make you own judgment on the quality of the product delivered. UPDATE: As part of the condo selling process, on 20 Sep 2013 the home inspection was done on behalf of the buyer by Home Guard Incorporated. As suspected, here are a few of the issues noted that were the direct result of work performed by Nick. 1. ELECTRICAL -- "One or more outlets at the kitchen have reversed polarity, i.e. the hot and neutral connection inside the outlet are wired backwards. These outlets and the circuit should be investigated and corrected. Based upon our inspection of a representative number of outlets, we recommend testing of every outlet at a later date. Repairs or rewiring are recommended at all deficient locations." 2A. PLUMBING -- "A plastic corrugated flex material has been used for the hall bathroom and master bathroom drain. This is not an approved configuration. We recommend an approved drain be installed." 2B PLUMBING -- "The escutcheons at the hall bathroom tub faucet are loose. We recommend tightening and/or sealing this trim piece for a better appearance and to avoid leakage in this area."
