Reliable Construction

This is a very aggressive company, uncomfortably aggressive and more aggressive than all of the other 7 or 8 bidders. The first contact was an unsolicited call. The first estimator at the house suggested an unrealistic and very expensive plan. The second estimator proposed a plan that was relatively cheap; this plan was to just redo the kitchen without changing anything. We believe that this was intended to get a low-cost contract signed, following which the price would increase due to "unforeseen costs" and "customer changes in the contract" which were actually sort of built in the first agreement. The last visit to the house included someone from the "central office" and we were assured that this person would give us some good discounts. After that, however, they disappeared. We expected a further revised offer but never heard from them again.

They did a wonderful job. I have used them for many years from 1986. They have always done a very nice work and are very clean people. This is an old house which was built in 1928 and the house was not built with the satisfactory foundation. So was putting down the hill and worked with all sorts of engineers and the city requirements to build our foundation at one point and pierced down on to the earth. They are very technically competent, reliable and very imaginative to do a solution. They charge on an hourly basis and they are compatible with others. As far as the garage door it came to $4000 that included rebuilding the garage door, rebuilding the frame around it, putting in a new mechanism and paint work. They also added lighting to the garage because it was very dark. The lighting was a suggestion of theirs which I really appreciated. Their price was satisfactory when compared to their quality. They were very responsive as in the case of garage door it was a sort of an emergency and they put down other things to take care of that. They are very professional and they are the same people working for many years. I feel comfortable in leaving them in the house even if I’m not there.

They added a door and built in shelves, and refinished the floor in my utility room and put tile in. In another room, they fixed water damage in the walls and put a new sill in one side of the building where the damage had occurred. They put in new ceiling lights and did some earthquake strengthening. They put in shear wall, which supports the whole house better in an earthquake. We have had them over the years, and all the time, they have been very reliable, pleasant and trustworthy. I didn?t feel uncomfortable having people in my house. They came when they said they would and did what they said they would do. They finished the job well; it is not spectacular but it is good. Randy, the owner, suggested many features that turned out to be excellent ideas. I would use them in the future, if necessary.
