Towards the end of our time with Dr. Scheibe, we encountered an issue with his staff. When I called to schedule a check up for my son, they were very condescending and told me they would not treat him due to an outstanding balance. I was embarrassed apologized for the lack of payment. I called the billing department to find out how much I owed...it was $35. The front desk forgot to take my co-pay at the previous visit and when it showed up as past due, they put a hold on our account. So silly, but they handled that incident like a huge corporation instead of a small town doctor's office. I think I talked to 5 people in order to settle a $35 charge. It was time consuming and silly. Not to mention, it was their fault for not collecting the co-pay in the first place. We switched insurance shortly thereafter, but still referred him out because we truly adored him. Despite the rude behavior of his staff. What upsets me, and prompted this review is his recent behavior. I referred a friend to him last month. Due to the recent Measles outbreak, she felt it was important to catch her children up on their vaccinations. Her son suffered from a severe allergic reaction to his first MMR vaccination and she has proceeded with caution since then. Throw in a major move, a miscarriage and life...like many people, her young children fell behind. I told her to see Dr. Scheibe because he always worked with us and made it possible for us to keep our son up to date, despite his heart issues. My friend took in her two small children and once she was there, the nurse advised her that they could not treat her children due to their lack of vaccinations. My friend apologized, and politely told the nurse she would not need to see the Dr. since she was not aware of their policy. As she stood to leave, the nurse told her to wait. Dr. Scheibe entered the room and proceeded to humiliate and belittle my friend. He said some very hurtful things to her as a person and as a parent. His behavior was so disturbing, both of her children began to cry. He then opened the door to the hallway and demanded that a nurse escort her and her children out. I totally understand that Dr. Scheibe may not want to treat a child that is not up to date. That is his right as a medical professional and I, along with my friend have incredible respect for that decision. But, why did his office schedule the appointment in the first place? That humiliation could have been avoided by his office staff politely informing her of their policy at the first phone call. And, she could have been allowed to quietly slip out once the nurse spoke with her and stated their policy. Instead, Dr. Scheibe and his office made the choice to publicly humiliate my friend and her children. I find that behavior disturbing, and I am truly embarrassed by his behavior. I hope this review is helpful for those of you looking to find a pediatrician who runs his office with compassion and values communication. Due to my experience with his billing department and my friends experience with his outburst, I can no longer refer Dr. Scheibe. His behavior, and the behavior of his office staff appears to be on a steady decline.
Description of Work: My son received excellent treatment from Dr. Scheibe years ago, but when we switched insurance providers we were no longer able to see him. To say it simply, we adored him and considered him a God send to our family. He saw us through a major heart surgery with our son and just amazed us with his care and attention to detail. But, towards the end of our time there,we began to feel that things in his office were on the decline.

First clue: When I went to my appointment there was another woman complaining at the window that she still hadn't gotten a referral from Dr. Lawson and it had been many weeks she requested one. Second clue: When I asked her as she was leaving about a nail problem I was having, she showed me hers and said she had the same problem - then walked out of the office. Third clue: NEVER available to go over my lab results. Finally, a nurse went over them with me. FOURTH & FINAL CLUE: The lab results said one thing, the cover sheet with Dr. Lawson's name on it had LAST YEAR'S results. This was the first time I went to see Dr. Lawson so have last year's results on HER cover sheet was quite alarming. My question is: If Dr. Lawson is so busy (and apparently she is), why is she accepting NEW patients when she obviously doesn't have the time for the ones she currently has? Luckily I'm healthy - but what if I wasn't? Signing off on LAST YEAR'S results! Really????

We’ve been going there for 25 years. Everything is right there. The lab, x-rays and all the doctors are there. They’ve pretty taken care of us. The office was good. The bedside manner was fantastic and great communication. We have no problem with billing.

I like the convenience at Magan Medical Clinic. It is convenient and that's where we go. If we get a bad doctor there it is a bad experience and if we get a good one it is a good experience. The staff friendliness depends on who you get. The bed side manner depends on who you get.

It was a wonderful experience. It was expedited. I had no problems. They seemed to be right on it. They expedite people really well. The people were eager to help and assist which was very odd. They were very concerned, and helpful. They do care. They're good, and efficient. They have a reputation like this for years. If there is to be a followup, they schedule it right away, and it's done. If you call that particular one, they will reschedule immediately. It's not something like, "You can call us back later." The office environment is pretty good. I would say because it's a clinic, you have smiley faces and you have an atmosphere of concern for those that need help. Most of the staff are very helpful, very efficient, very caring. I never had a bad one with their bedside manner. They get a high mark. I would recommend them highly.

I have used Magan Medical Clinic often for pediatric visits for my 2 now grown children and have been very satisfied with the care and service we received. However, my last visit with my daughter to their urgent care facility left me feeling rather negative toward them. While the care she received was adequate and convenient (this was on a Saturday), their billing department leaves alot to be desired. My recommendation is to make sure they use your correct billing address for any amount you may owe. Even if you have lived at your address for over 25 years and have never given them another address, you still need to make sure they have the correct address. And oh yes, make sure they have the correct patient name also. In doing a credit check on my and my husbands report, I found a negative collection item. In researching this, it was a 3 1/2 year old item that I was unaware of. I paid my copay up front at the time of service and was unaware there was a balance owing. They had sent it to collections because they kept billing to a wrong address. They also billed it as a bill for my son, who at the time was 22 and hadn't even been to their office since he was about 10. I immediately contacted Magan and the collection office to take care of this. Both were unwilling to bend at all. They were adamant about getting their $35.95. Never mind the thousands of dollars they earned off us over the years and the fact they put an unearned blemish on my credit report. After several weeks of trying to resolve this (the collection office wouldn't waver on the late fees and penalties), I managed to get Magan themselves to accept the original amount and waive the extra junk fees. I just find this way of doing business totally unacceptable. If I had any guts, I would have waited another 3 1/2 years for this to disappear off my report but I did, in fact, owe the money and felt somewhat responsible.
Description of Work: Urgent care for my daughter who was injured in a soccer game. Interaction with billing department left me feeling very negative. Make sure they have correct billing address on file. Even if you have never changed addresses.

From the moment I walked in to leaving the facility it was professional and caring. I initially walked into the wrong door with the flu shot, X-ray, and others waiting, the room was packed! But I must have looked lost as a lady behind the counter, didn't ignore me, and asked to help me, directed me to the sign in sheet and paperwork to fillout. They ten took my vitals, asked me the standard questions and directed me to the Urgent Care facility. The first gentleman I saw, Luis, was professional and light hearted, as were all the people that worked there. He took my vitals and I was escorted to the examining room. The next person, treated me like I was the only one there. Inquired about how I was feeling and asked more than enough questions to understand my situation and symptoms. She told me the degree of the infection and what was happening to my body, which helped because knowledge is power ;) Then prescribed 3 things for me and described exactly what they were for, how to take them/apply them. Afterwards she asked me questions to see if I was listening to those instructions to insure I was going to be properly medicated. I went to the Pharmacy in the building and was re explained the medications. All done like I was the VIP patient of the day I just moved to Glendora 2 years ago and was hesitant to change doctors. Now I'm going to find a family doctor at that facility. When I told my friend where I went she said they are great! Had her children there, that was 25 years ago, so this wasn't a fluke.

Wife brought the boys in and was quickly brought in for an examination. Staff and doctor were kind and compassionate while listening to our concerns. We needed a prescription, and were not given the run around about how over prescribing antibiotics is a problem for our society. We know, as most parents know their own kids, how these ear aches and sore throats progress, and if we didn't get antibiotics now, we would be back in 24 to 48 hours with a more advanced infection. Thanks Magan for trusting a parent.

We really like it there. They are the most efficient medical office that I've ever been in. You don't wait very long. In the urgent care the wait often very short. The doctors are very knowledgeable and patient and explain what the problem is and how they can help you. We see Dr. Mathur there, she is a pediatrician and she is tremendous. She is really good with the young kids' right up to the teens. She speaks really well with them and knows how to communicate with them. The nurses are very caring and I've just never had a bad experience with them. I've been going there for 10 years now. The doctors have been right on with the treatment. I've never had any misdiagnosis and there was nothing terribly serious; just the usual illnesses that crop up. We've gone for well baby visits, normal physical health checkups, sprains, broken bones and x-rays.

We have seen him on occasion. He is very knowledgeable and is able to understand the allergies that my kids had because it is hard to figure out what is specifically causing it. He is very good at figuring that out. He is very patient and teaching the kids how to work with their allergies. He treats you like you are an intelligent being and doesn’t look down on you. He explains the details that can be a little confusing to understand about what he is prescribing or what he is doing. He has a good sense of humor and he knows his stuff.
