Albert Nahman Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling

We hired Albert Nahan to install a gas safety shutoff valve. They were courteous and gave a reasonable estimate. They had a promotion running on Angie's list (which they ended due to its popularity after a couple recent earthquakes) so were able to save an additional $75. They were able to do the job within a couple hours as they estimated and were very professional. I'd call them again for estimate on plumbing work.

Other than the water heater repair, the other repairs were time consuming due to the age of the plumbing. Stanley did a great job. He was extremely thorough and took care to keep the premises clean. He was also very knowledgeable about his trade and had some suggestions for future plumbing work I might consider. I don't know what Nahman pays Stanley, but it isn't enough.

Overall, things went well. I was called prior to the plumbers' arrival as they completed their previous job earlier than anticipated. I was asked if they could come earlier; I agreed so they arrived early. I explained that both the kitchen and bath emptied into the same drain pipe and periodically one or the other would be clogged. Also the pipe under the kitchen sink had sprung a leak. They checked all the bathroom pipes and found that the pipe from the tub was fitted with an incorrect type of pipe. To replace it would be an additional fee. I agreed to the replacement, They cleared the clogged main drain and replaced the necessary pipes. All of the work was guaranteed with the exception of the old galvanized drain pipe which needs to be replaced. I was given an estimate for its replacement. They gave me two possible scenarios of how the work could be done: either tearing out part of the wall or setting up a new bypass pipe.

I'd used Albert Nahman Plumbing for other jobs and knew they did excellent low-hassle work, so I looked them up on Angie's List, got their coupon for $20 off and gave them a call. We arranged for the plumber to arrive between 8:30 and 9 on Friday (today) and they called Thursday night to confirm. Otto showed up at 8:30 sharp which is always such a change from anyone else I deal with. They say 8:30-9:00 and they arrive at eleven. Otis came in to fix the low-flow problem and immediately recognized the problem and with very little fuss told me what the issue was, what it would cost and how he would fix it. 30 minutes later the job was complete and cleaned up. Everything in life should be this easy. Otis, you are a credit to your profession!

I used them three or four times. They have always been good and they have always answered the phone. It has been easy from start to finish. They are not always the cheapest but they are also not the most expensive. I am very careful in getting several bids for every job before I make a choice. They are not usually the cheapest but are not usually the most expensive either. They do a very good job and I am not disappointed at all. They come out when they say that they are going to come out to do a bid. They are professional and they write up the bid on the spot. I have not had any trouble with the people that perform the job and I have had a good experience with them. They are a company that I feel like I can rely on. They are probably going to do another job in the next couple of months. They are probably going to put in a French drain around the house.

They're very professional and punctual. Basically everything you want from a contractor. They clean up well, and I'm satisfied with the service they provide.

Both guys were very professional. It took 2 days, two men the first day, one the second. Tony was our guy for the second day and he was very sweet! He helped a neighbor that knocked on our door with a plumbing emergency (busted water heater spewing water everywhere!), he installed our laundry room sink at no extra charge, and he even put on my brand new Ikea toilet seat for me! Nothing but good things to say about Albert Nahman Plumbing & Heating!

Excellent! Receptionist was very good with communcation and fitting us in thier fully booked schedule. The technician was courteous and professional. Turns out our water line was located in a planterbox/retaining wall structure. Once the rupture was located and repaired they even put the structure back together and replanted the few plants thats were displaced - how awesome is that?!? While not cheap (and certainly not expensive either), I appreciate the fixed pricing. These guys are a quality operation and we will certainly call them again for future plumbing needs.

the appointment was scheduled for 2-4pm but i received a phone call from the company asking if they could come early. i said yes and they arrived, as expected, on time. stanley and carrie had no trouble doing the work and were super kind to my four dogs, even when they were in the way! the disposal was replaced in only 25 minutes! the cleanup was beyond expectations. the water from the old disposal had gotten into drawers under the sink and they wiped off everything in there for me. i would use tis company again anytime i have need for a plumber.

See above. Everything went very well. I was very happy with the work they did and my overall experience.

They arrived on time and performed excellent work.

They were very good. The price was a bit steep. They are very responsive. I signed up for their Diamond Club because every one of their technicians that have come out have been good and it is obvious that they love working for this person. It's a good company.

They were pretty good. The son that eventually took over the company is very personable. I think they're kind of pricey (they have a plan to join as a membership), but overall they did a fairly decent job.

Albert Nahman came out to look and gave me estimate, half of what Berkeley Plumbing would have charged. And the guy who did the installation, Mario, was very professional. He was concerned about my ancient furnace and gave me the name of a furnace guy who used to work at Atlas Plumbing, Kerin Portillo. I ended up having Kerin come out, inspect the furnace, and based on the terrible cracks he found and I saw on this 22 year old unit, he installed another forced air furnace at a good price, so I was happy with the whole experience.

The disruption of having no hot water was minimal.

We got them off of Angie's list. I do not remember what it cost us; may be about $200. They put in a new toilet. We like them very much. They were very prompt. They do what they say. They are fine. I would use them again in the future.

Arrived on time, did excellent finishing work, and cleaned up after they left. Basically, everything you can ask for in this type of service.

He was very polite & considerate. Took care not to track stuff into the home. Knew what he was doing. He was very courteous and I was very impressed by his services.

They had a couple of calls - they came in December and January. They were very prompt, courteous and responsive, and made appointments quickly. They were reputable in that they told us the price upfront and stuck with it. They came right back whenever we called, without a question, and dealt with the issue immediately. The experience was all very positive. They were a little bit high in price, but they were worth it in the sense that they took up responsibility and came back when called.

After providing two quotes online for new gas water heaters that were not compliant with Regulation 9, rule 6 of the BAAQMD that came into force on Jan 1, 2010, salesman Gabe Kalmon visited the house and after discussing other options provided an estimate for a Vertex 90% efficient condensing heater that was compliant. This is an expensive water heater but not many options were available that complied with the new rule. Installation was done efficiently and neatly by Albert Nahman staff. Provision of an electrical outlet by a subcontracted electrician was less neat and quite messy. The heater produces condensate that needs to be piped outside to open earth. This part was facilitated by the fact that a new condensing furnace had just been installed and by ABC HVAC who had installed a second drain line under the house to be used for the water heater. Soon after installation there was water in the pan under the heater. The serviceman quickly discovered that this was due to placement of the plastic drain tube which was lowered and the problem solved. A continuing problem is that the pressure relief valve on the heater opens and allows a small amount of water to escape to the outside of the house. The manufacturer claims that this is normal and due to the expansion of the water on heating. But this did not happen when 75 gal of water were heated. They (and Nahman) suggested installation of an expansion tank or replacement of the main pressure reduction valve into the house with a valve with integral bypass. Either option will cost several hundred dollars. Since the manufacturer says this is common, it would have been nice to know this extra cost possibility ahead of time. Fortunately the heater works extremely well, with excellent recovery and high efficiency.

The company was very professional. They came out to give estimates and if they were unable to find a problem they did not charge me. They tried to repair problems as inexpensively as possible. They ended up saving me a lot of money. They were very honest and I have never had a plumbing company save me any money at all. I would definitely use them again.

They did a great job for us. They were half an hour early and were respectful to the property. They wore booties so they did not get our carpets dirty.They had a very clear price sheet that showed what the prices were. They were very quick to get the work done and done right.

Mr. Nahman himself showed up with his team to review the work to be done. He noticed right away that the current gas line feeding the new line would not be big enough to supply all the BTUs for the various gas appliances we would be running (we were installing a gas fireplace insert and a gas stove). He had a larger diameter pipe installed that was not part of the bid and because of this, he did not charge us. Our electrician was working on-site at the same time and accidentally pierced a small water pipe. Mr. Nahman's team fixed the problem right away, even though it lengthened their work day. The work was excellent and done on time. The workers were professional and very careful to protect our property. They showed up as scheduled and completed the work on time. We especially appreciated how knowledgable, helpful and professional everyone was.

I called Nahman because I needed a gas clothes drier installed. The estimate I was given was over $600 just to add an additional length of gas pipe and install. I also got an estimate of over $300 if I wanted to install an electric drier (to plug it in and attach to air vent.) Instead, I bought a new electric drier for $350, with installation included!

Very responsive.. We needed them out here in an emergency adn they did a great job.
