I used Frank Homen's Sunrise Landscape Maintenance for approximately four years. During that time, his crew was punctual and met my expectations of a "mow, blow, and go" operation. Earlier this year while working in my back garden, one of the crew using a string trimmer kicked up a rock that shattered my sliding patio door. I immediately took pictures and contacted Frank. He agreed that it was his responsibility and would pay for the damages. I spent the next week searching for someone to repair the damage. I found three solutions at varying costs. I was willing to take the cheapest solution and I let Frank know the amount. He agreed again to pay for the damages, so I had the repair work done. So far so good. Then it got bad. Getting my money from Frank was an absolute nightmare. It has been four months since I paid for the work, and I received the final payment today. During that time, I sent countless emails and left numerous messages asking for reimbursement. My issue isn't that it took four months. My issue is his complete lack of professionalism. Due to the economy and personal matters (an apparently messy divorce), Frank stated he would need time to repay. I told him an extended repayment was okay, I just needed to know when I was going to get my money. He consistently refused to provide me with a repayment schedule. When I tried to contact him he ignored me. When he did commit to a payment date, he would miss it. I was one day away from filing in small claims court, contacting the BBB, and reporting him to the State Licensing Board when I got his second of four installments. Then it got surreal. The final check arrived today with a small sticker of a gorilla on the front and an arrow pointing from my name to the sticker. On the back was the text "1%". Inside was a note that said, in part, "You are a perfect example of the 1%. Have a good life".The 1%? Really? I'm the bad guy because I fronted the money for the repair? I'm the bad guy because I wanted repayment in less than four months? I'm the bad guy because I expect a businessman to make commitments and honor them? I don't think so. In summary, his crew did acceptable work and the price for the work was reasonable. But stay away from the company because the owner is a terrible businessman.
