Woodiwiss Painting

Toby Woodiwiss, owner of the company, came to my house to see the job first, and noticed that my windows in the room I wanted painted were hard to open because the house had settled. He figured out how to adjust them, and said he'd fix them for me when he returned with the painter in a few days. When they came to do the job, the painter started work and Toby adjusted 2 banks of windows for me - no charge! Other contractors had suggested I might need new windows. I was thrilled. Toby was a total pleasure to work with - professional, flexible, friendly - he clearly likes people. He picked up the paint for me and brought all supplies. His painter never took a break all day - even for lunch - and was hardworking, quiet, and got more done than I expected. The work was perfect and I got a great deal.

The job started on time, moved along at a good pace and even with the add ons, was finished in a timely fashion. It was a trouble free contracting experience, maybe the first such of my life. This is a good company to work with!

Toby Woodiwiss is awesome. He is responsive, professional and has a great crew of painters. The painting part went smoothly and so did the refinishing of our beautiful wood door. However, there were some glitches. A heavy object dented the hardwood of my entry area and some painters' tape pulled up a section of urethane on my bathroom hardwood. Neither of them can be repaired without redoing all the hardwood in the house and that is simply not possible right now. The good thing is that Toby did not argue about the problems, he simply apologized. Things happen and I judge a company of course by the work they do but also by their honesty and willingness to accept errors without denying. I hate when companies say "I didn't do that!". I'm happy with the quality of the work and would use Woodiwiss painting again without hesitation.

Toby was attentive to my project's unique features. Toby was helpful in making suggestions as to how to proceed and colors to combine. He negotiated space with a hostile neighbor. The project finished on time and within budget. I am very satisfied with the results. I will happily use Woodiwiss Painting in the future.

Toby and his crew did an excellent job, and we would definitely recommend them to others. The workmanship was impeccable and the cleanup was spotless. We were very impressed.

I was lucky enough to get these guys via a Angie's List deal that gave me 7 hours of work for 199. I want to say that I am very happy with the job they performed. I was using this session as a tester to see the work I would get out of Woodiwiss if I used them for the exterior. The job is spic and span, the worker was friendly and responsive, and I appreciated the fact that Toby came out himself to scope the work and give me some advice/instructions for the appointment.Excellent work, not only will I recommend their services, I will be using them again in 3-4 months.

I don't know where to begin...this has been such an awesome experience! Mr. Woodiwiss was interviewed by my husband, along with several other painters. My husband liked him, and the appraisal was reasonable, in line with one, and under three others. There was nothing that I asked for that he didn't come through! I had the assistance of a decorator to help me pick paint colors, but he could have done that himself (I didn't know). He painted splotches on many walls so I could have a look at them over the weekend. I decided that one of the colors was too dark, and he suggested 'lightening' it up, and proceeded to paint more splotches on the walls with the different intensities of the paint I had selected. Also, I was sure I wanted stark white trim, but he suggested a shade softer. He painted trim with both colors so I could look at it for a few days. Sure enough, he was right. The sellers had left furniture throughout the house, even though we didn't want it, and I asked him if he wanted any of it. He said no, but he knew of a non-profit that helps teenagers. Because I was leaving out of town for weeks, he said that he would arrange for it to be picked-up WHILE he was there. He oversaw this, and it wasn't in his job description. We have someone coming in to do the flooring, but they won't remove the baseboards. I called him (still out of town) and asked if he knew a handyman who would come in and do the work. He told me not to worry, he'd take care of it. The next day, a gentleman was at our house removing the baseboards. NONE of this was his responsibility, but he helped us constantly. We are relocating from out-of-state, and had no connections or any knowledge of who could be trusted to do the work at a reasonable price. You could not hire a better, more professional, more honest person than Toby Woodiwiss. He and his crew are just FANTASTIC!

We are delighted with the results, the contractor, Toby Woodiwiss, and our painter, Isaac. In addition, the job was done more quickly than estimated.

One painter worked alone for the majority of the time, unsupervised. He wasn't detail oriented, so left things undone that his very professional boss/owner took care of later. The lone painter left a lot of mess behind after working each night. I also feel he should have covered the carpeted area with paper or plastic to protect our carpet, where he would be walking.

Our job was fairly straight forward. I took down the mini blinds on all the windows before they arrived and moved furniture where necessary. Isaac started on his own doing prep work that included taping and tarping followed by some light sanding. He was joined by another painter as they applied the first coat of polyurethane finish to the windows (inside only). Isaac came back alone on day two to finish applying the first coat and then putting a second coat on the sills. Toby came on the morning of the second day and diagnosed a problem in the installation of the sills and moldings on two windows that caused an uneveness in the reveals. It looked like the wood had bowed. It turned out that was not the problem. The installer did not shim under those parts of the sill and then over-drove the nails into the sills which bent the sill too far down in spots where there were no shims. He corrected the problem by repositioning the sills and then placing nails to hold the sills in place. Isaac then finished off the painting, doing more finish on the sills as they are most exposed to the sun. His clean-up was outstanding and I was able to re-install our mini blinds in less than an hour. The windows look terrific.

Mr. Woodiwiss showed up on time to do an estimate, provided it within two days, scheduled the work, and one of his painters did a great job.

I purchased 7 hours of painting services through Angies Big deals. Once I purchased the coupon I contacted the company and Toby, the owner called me back right away. We set up a time for a consult and he came over and we discussed what I wanted done. I wanted the following painted: Master bedroom Master suite door Bedroom door Two small walls in my living room. He promised to get back to me with available dates within 24 hours and he did just that. He also emailed me with how much paint I would need. I should also mention I was shy about what could really be done in 7 hours and Toby was very optimistic that all of my wishes could be granted in the 7 hour time period. We prioritized each area I wanted done. ( e.g bedroom priority 1, doors 2) Toby could not come to my house the day of my painting but he called in advance and let me know the painter he sent over was clear about my instructions. The painter was a tad late... Maybe 15-20 minutes. Not a huge deal. He was courteous and professional. He completed all the work we agreed upon in the time allotted. The actual quality of work was pretty good except I have noticed some weird discoloration near the ceiling on one wall. It looks like a shadow of some sort. He also got a little paint on my carpet. It's not really noticeable but I notice. It may go away after a few more vacuums. Additionally, he didn't put any of my furniture back after he was done. However, I suppose that's because some areas may have still been wet. Overall, I'm pleased with the work that was performed. I appreciated Toby's professionalism! I will probably use Woodiwiss for other projects I have and refer my friends to this company. 8/3/12: I would like to add on to the above review. The owner contacted me about the less than perfect work I noted above and told me that he would come and correct any issues I had. Due to my busy schedule and my not thinking the "less than perfect" areas are really a big deal, I never followed up with Toby to schedule some time for him to see the work. I just wanted to add this update to demonstrate that Toby is all about customer satisfaction and extremely professional. I am reconfirming that I would use this company again.

Toby met with us and was great. He picked up the paint, and patched holes and a little water damage. His painter was able to paint two bedrooms in the time frame and did a very good job. Excellent company. Toby Woodiwiss is a great professional with ideas and help, and he is a really nice guy!

They are awesome. They are doing work for us right now. They are almost done. They did extra work for us. It was nice that we didn't have to run around to look for someone. They show up when they say they are going to show up. His name is Toby Woodiwiss. It cost us $199 on the deal on Angie's List and then it's costing us an additional $392.57. He bought all of the paint for us. I asked him what kind of paint does he recommend and he recommended the paint. One guy had to completely skin and texture wall. They came yesterday and did what they could yesterday. We bought the deal in November and its now about to be April. There is an end date on the deal which is in May. He said he didn't care about the date. He said people buy the deal off Angie's List but they don't call before it expires and then they call him later but he still does it for them which I think is very nice. His price is very good. Every time when the coupon comes he will be at our house.

Woodiwiss at the time was promoting a $200 painter for a day special through Angies List. The special only applied to residential jobs but I contacted them (spoke to Toby, the owner/boss) and described our project and wanted to use the special to not only try out their company but also make sure that we were happy our new color choice. Our job was to paint only one wall in approx 75 guestrooms a new accent color. We wanted to make sure the color worked with our furnishings and get a realistic idea on how long it would take to complete the whole job. Toby was kind enough to waive the residential requirement of their special and we had them out our property and was able to paint 4 rooms in the time allotted. The trial was perfect because it confirmed our color choice and we confirmed that the low-odor paint allowed us to have the room ready to occupy the next day. For Toby, I think it gave him a solid idea of the full scope of the project to work out our bid. The job was done over the next weekend over three consecutive days and Toby was there everyday to supervise which was great. I have to say that Toby and his crew did an outstanding job. Not only was the paintwork professional but his crew acted professionally as well which is always a concern of ours when we have an operating business and have guests walking around the property. They did a great job laying down tarps and plastic to protect our furniture and carpet and cleaned up after themselves. Their price was fair considering the quality of work and the short schedule we had given him. We would definitely use them again and would not hesitate to use recommend them.

Toby and his painters are experts, craftsmen. They are consumed with doing a perfect job, and used every minute on the site. They are thorough and always on task. Competitive price, quality paint, quality workmanship. He will not cut corners. Clean, courteous, knowledgable, superior and beautiful results on every project I have used them for.

Woodiwiss Painting did a great job and were very professional. Toby was very responsive and helpful and he has a great crew working for him. Painting took two days and Toby came by after for an inspection to insure that nothing was missed. I used the coupon that was offered for Woodiwiss and was glad I did. If you live in the Tri-Valley area, definitely look Woodiwiss up. They do a great job, their competitive, and they are local.

They were wonderful. They were on time and very thorough. We plan to have the inside of our house painted by them as well. We had a metal shed outside that was getting quite rusted and I asked if they could do that for an additional amount; I was willing to pay more. He said that they would take care of it and they did that and also reset our front door for us, which was wonderful. They did all of this at no extra charge and I was just astounded with their quality of work and their friendliness. They were very amicable and very pleasant fellows to work with. Their price was quite reasonable. I would rate them very highly.

We had a very weathered door and outside beams. The items were sanded and patched before they were painted. Unfortunately, when the existing lock was removed it was discovered that a very odd shaped opening was cut in the door. The new hardware we picked out wouldn't work. Toby helped us look for something that would work- making calls on our behalf. Currently we have something on order, and once it comes in Toby will come back to install it. He was very helpful in helping to resolve the problem, which went beyond what he was hired to do.

A VERY positive experience, I highly recommend Woodiwiss Painting! Toby gave a fair and detailed estimate. His team were hard workers and I appreciated that they cleaned up at the end of each day. Toby was flexible when I added additional painting to the project. He was on the job each day. Awesome job on the baseboards!

The crew was timely and did excellent work.

The entire experience was very positive from beginning to end. Toby came to the house and did a walk through of the areas to be painted. He made suggestions on quality of paint, colors, etc. which were very welcome. He sent an estimate in a very timely manner and we were able to schedule the job according to our schedule. The painter that was sent to do the job arrived at the agreed time and did an excellent job. He was very neat and prepared the walls before painting. I will definitely use Woodiwiss Painting to do additional work at our home in the future.

Initially there was a delay due to not having the right ladder, but was started the work went well and the job was finished on time.
