Pros: To be fair, the overall remodel looks nice. Team friendly, nice and comfortable leaving alone in house. Nice to our dog. Several requests to redo finish work done without complaint - may have been b/c owner agreed quality of finish work by onsite EE wasn't up to par. Installation of luxury vinyl plank floor was detailed, tricky calculations to have it all line up. We really cannot recommend C2C in its current state of disorganization, miscommunications, lack of staff and general construction knowledge. Unfortunately, we need take some blame, for relying heavily on kitchen designer recommendation and failing to complete due diligence. Failed to get referrals, didn't look for other reviews, in a rush to complete work, should have reviewed contract thoroughly. In retrospect, should have waited until the contractor we really wanted was actually available in Feb. Cons: Shady contract language. Use of the word "allotment" and "allotted" changed dependent on C2C needs. So one 50 lb bag of self leveler "allotted" under flooring section and that was included in total price for that section. However, within $2500 charged to replace 8' slider, $1500 "allotted" for the actual door. Same language. But promptly paid C2C the additional $2700 for a custom sized slider instead of $1200 (after allotment). Was told there was no credit for the $1500 allottment already paid and that I was misreading contract. Oddly, we were also charged $1400+ for 2 interior doors and plywood underlayment on flooring which were listed as "provided" and/or "allotted". When asked about those two discrepancies, eventually reimbursed. Reimbursement took over three months as they were requested January 3rd, but not given until April 21st. Not proactive or smart thinkers: 1. To access crawlspace inside house, cut a large hole in kitchen subfloor. A 1951 original pristine redwood subfloor. Didn't ask first, did not think about placement of hole, b/c right in front of the fridge, as opposed to under a cabinet bank. Why is this an issue? Because after two crappy repair attempts of the hole, the area still sinks and squeaks when you walk on it and stand there. Which is DAILY, b/c it's in FRONT of the FRIDGE. 2. 8' slider - told we needed custom size for lots more $$. Not true, 8" to work with. Could use cheaper stock size. 3. Wasted nearly a week to find custom size window needed unexpectedly. finally I asked to order larger stock size and pay to reframe. 4. Subfloor - replaced 1/4" with 1/8" so all door trim gaps at bottom. 5. Disposal - outlet from disposal was lower than the inlet into the wall waste pipe. So from a general physics standpoint, it's very difficult for water and debris, to travel up into the wall. Inspector said "I don't know how you're going to fix this. It should've been done when you were down to the studs." C2C said that no inspector had ever called them out on this item. Crappy finish work: The following example is probably the best representation. Exterior casement around slider was finished with framing nails and painted over. Super ugly. Summing it up: one worker never there past 230PMish Occasionally owner helped and horrible with communication. How many times can your laptop be broken? Who can't read email on their phone? Promised responses and change orders had to be requested on multiple occasions with delays. Project was 27 weeks start to finish. With unexpected issues, we expected 10-11 weeks tops. Still hoped it would be ready for Christmas. HA! We were walking around on subfloor, non working disposal, non existent oven vent and all of our items buried in POD in driveway or boxes stacked in garage and house. Suffice it to say they ruined Christmas - I did not put up any decorations. They also ruined 50th birthday. 27 weeks of chaos, weekly spats with husband, paying extra months for POD, cats locked up daily, lives in limbo just waiting, waiting, waiting.
