Sunco Painting

I feel terrible writing a bad review. I'm a very patient & understanding person but I don't want someone else to waste their time & feel as frustrated as I did. I first met Bo, one of the managers of Sunco, at a home show. He was very kind & personable so I called him a few days later. I caught him at a bad time & so he said he would call me right back. He never did. Several weeks later I found 2 free tickets to another AZ home show at my door courtesy of Sunco painting. I attended that home show as well & looked for the Sunco booth. I reminded Bo of who I was & we scheduled a date & time for an estimate. The day of the estimate he called me a few minutes after he was supposed to be at my home to tell me he forgot he had a prior engagement & would not be able to attend. I was a bit annoyed since I had to rush to leave work & then rush to get home to meet him but I didn't let it get to me & we rescheduled. The next time he didn't show up at all. I called him to ask where he was & there was a silence on the other end as if he had absolutely no idea he had an appointment. That was strike 3 so I didn't agree to reschedule & I told him I would get back to him. It was a late afternoon/early evening on a weekend that he called to ask if he could stop by. For some strange reason I agreed and so he came by, looked around, and then came inside to give me my estimate. I had been expecting about $1750-2000 for a 1400 sq ft home but his estimate was $3700 using the lower end paint & over $5000 for premium!! I couldn't believe it! He never called me back for a follow-up. I decided then & there to stop attending home shows & only contact businesses through Angie's List or family/friend's recommendations since my other paint estimate from the same home show didn't go well either. I chose 3 paint companies with service awards from Angie's list and I am currently deciding between 2. Both of those companies had exceptional presentations, fair estimates (almost half of Sunco's), and they both have contacted me after to ask if I had questions. Maybe Sunco prefers to get their business from big projects (larger homes or commercial properties) rather than waste time with small townhomes but really, I am not sure why I was treated like I didn't matter.

The exterior paint job that was done by Sunco is beautiful. My house was in need of many repairs in addition to paint ? rotten wood, major stucco wear and damage, wooden patio covering, caulking and weather stripping. All of the repairs were done very professionally and look great. The painting was also done perfectly and special attention was paid to all details with perfect corners and lines. The crew started as scheduled and checked in and out with me every day. The foreman, George, was always happy to answer any questions and walked the property with me daily to explain the progress and the work that was being done. Sunco was not the lowest bid I received, but the other companies seemed more concerned with selling expensive paint rather than concentrating on the total job and all the work that was needed. Bo seemed intent on giving me a perfect job, and that?s what I got. I couldn?t be happier.

My experience went very well. The staff was friendly and professional. The pricing was reasonable for the special ceramic paint that was applied. They were great with the clean up afterwards. I would recommend this company to others.

This vendor is absolutely terrible. He relies on quantity over quality. I had no idea he was going to spray the interior of my home until after he started. First he indicated it would take 2 workers at least 3 days to complete my home. But, I should not be surprised if he brought in more to complete the job sooner. He also said he would start on Friday, May 9th but never showed up until Saturday, May 10th. Then only two individuals showed up and were done by Sunday afternoon...what a mess. "Bo" as he goes by does not show up when he says he is going to show up nor will he return calls when he says he will. Again, this vendor overbooks and therefore commits to dates and times he cannot meet. The last time I called him he answered and told me he would call me back in an hour...16 hours later I received a phone call. As for quality of work. Do NOT count on it. I am still getting paint off my floors and windows. His workers ruined the top blades of all fans in the house and pulled the finish completely off of the bottom of another fan. When I told "Bo" he was to fix the issue he tried to buy me a fan that didn't even match my decor and was totally lost when I got upset at him for trying to select items for my house. When I asked him to leave he tried to pay me $200 in cash to keep me from filing complaints. Finally, I got this companies information from the Phoenix Home Show...beware. Apparently the Home Show does not screen nor care that vendors do sub quality work. As "Bo" insists all checks are payble to him personally I suspect there is much more going on here than I'm aware of.

Sunco did an amazing job on the interior and exterior of our home. There was one interior paint area that I thought could have been done better and they immediately stopped what they were doing and repainted the area to my satisfaction. We had the back of our two story home painted in preparation for a wedding reception and it looks better than new because of the excellent prep work and top of the line materials. I had four metal french doors that needed serious repair because of dog damage and the painters have them looking new again. Sunco is not the cheapest painter out there but they are bonded and insured and use great materials. I highly recommend them.

The first day they were climbing up to the balcony of the condo on a ladder with out permission because the doors were still locked. When i pulled up i has extremely upset to see a ladder over other condo units. when i asked what they were doing they yelled from the balcony "we are robing the place!" Need less to say I called the manager "BO" who was not on site. He dismissed the crew and sent them home. This was Tuesday. He told me he would have a new crew there Thursday and was very sorry for the experience. I agreed because of time constraints to give them another chance. Thurs a new crew arrived and went to work. I was told they would finish Saturday. They did work for 2 days. Saturday came and no one showed up. I was told they would be there to finish Sunday. Sunday came and no one showed up again. I could not get a return phone call from anyone. Because of time i had to bring in another company to finish the job. No reason was ever given for not showing up to finish . I also found out later they used the wrong tape on the coverings around the condo and they ruined 2 ceiling fans with finish that was pulled off. The screws for all the vents were missing and had to be replaced. We also found they ruined a pocket door! We ended up replacing the ceiling fans. Now we have to rip out the pocket door! My advice is to never use this company! I had to back up all the other companies coming in because of them! It was a horrible experience.
