We have no record of this customer at all. I believe he has the wrong company. This is from 2012 and we checked all records with his first and last name including address. Not sure what to do with this. Will contact Angies list to review.

Our experience with Sun Valley Stone Works was wonderful from the help getting started with stone selection to the installation. A highlight of the project was the installation. Some modifications had to be done to the back splash. The installer was a true craftsman in cutting and polishing the stone on site. The results were better than originally planed. To sum up our experience with Sun Valley Stone Works, it was magnificent and we plan to have them do more work for us.
Description of Work: Sun Valley Stone Works fabricated a marble top for the vanity in our bathroom. They were very helpful in picking the right slab. Took precise measurements at our home. Fabricated the top and did the installation. The project from start to finish was timely and efficient. The craftsmanship the best. The results beautiful.

The fabrication of the counter tops was of poor quality. The installation was even worse. There was one delay after another with the installation. There was one excuse after another. My wife waited home for hours and hours for this company to come. Some days Janie Bahoura, (the owner) would call and offer my wife an excuse why the installers would be late, sometimes she wouldn't call. Sometimes the installers would show up and sometimes they wouldn't show, sometimes they would show up without an appointment, but Janie Bahoura always had an excuse whether before or after the fact. The work done was of such poor quality that we requested some of the kitchen be remade. Wally Bahoura, Janies husband, told us that he was very unhappy with the idea of remaking the kitchen countertops because he would be losing money. Who would tell a customer that? He and Janie Bahoura blamed the cabinet maker for the poor quality of the counter tops. However the cabinets were installed before Wally Bahoura took the measurements for the counter tops. The cabinets were of excellent quality both of fabrication and installation. I am a lay person but I could see how meticulous the cabinet installers were and how sloppy, messy & slovenly Sun Valley's installers were. After Wally's heated arguement with the cabinet maker (who in my opinion was correct) Janie offered to do everything and anything to make us happy. She truly did try to rectify the situation. Janie and Wally Bahoura had their installers try to fix the poor quality countertops in the kitchen. Every attempt to repair the poor quality made the situation worse. The lines and angles on the counter tops were not cut straight. The counter tops do not fit on the cabinet boxes properly or symmetrically. After all of Janie's excuses and promises my wife and I had enough of this company and told them not to come back. One of her best excuses was that the lighting in her fabrication shop was inadequate. In return for my promise not to file a complaint with the Arizona Registrar of contractors she gave us a discount of $2,400.00. Just yesterday the bottom fell out of the custom made kitchen sink that Sun Valley fabricated and installed. It appears to me that there were voids in the epoxy application and no re-enforcements were used to support the bottom of the sink. When the bottom fell out of the sink it damaged the cabinet and plumbing, causing a water leak and water damage inside the cabinet box. Janie does state that she told us that the sink would have to be reinforced but neither my wife nor I can recall that conversation. Janie also states that she told us that since the sinks were custom made, they would not drain properly, my wife and I do not recall that conversation either. I would not recommend that Janie and Wally Bahoura install counter tops in your home or business.
Description of Work: Sun Valley fabricated and installed new counter tops through the entire house, there was a total of 12 counter tops and 2 custom made sinks installed.

Response from SUN VALLEY STONE WORKS INC
I have asked this customer to remove or modify his complaint. He has since modified his post above from his original post, but he only made enough changes to make him sound more sincere. It’s extremely inaccurate and does not even begin to tell the story of what really happened. He left out major details. In his original post you could tell that he was tough person to deal with. He has now toned it down from his original version to make himself sound a little softer. I will post our emails back and forth to give you a picture of what really happened. UPDATE: (They only let me answer this complaint in so many words and you need all the emails to really understand how everything transpired– however there is not enough room to post them all in my response section I have been given) To sum it up in a nutshell...We did have an issue with the job. He states that we blamed the cabinet guy for our mistake. In some ways he was partially to blame, but the responsibility rested with us, because at the end of the day, we made the decision to trust the measurements given by the cabinet installer to fabricate two of the kitchen tops. Two of the cabinets were not completely installed at the time of template. The cabinet installer gave us measurements of what the finished cabinet sizes were to be. We used those measurements to make the tops for the two kitchen pieces. That proved to be a mistake. The homeowner states that all the cabinets where installed, but that is not true. Two kitchen cabinets were installed and two were partially installed. We always want the customer to be happy and we took responsibility and fixed the problem. There were no arguments with the homeowner on this at all. We did have discussions with the cabinet company’s owner. There were 11 pieces that we had to make for this job. We completed them in steps because we had to wait on the cabinets to be installed (this job spanned two months). So we but in a couple pieces here and there till we began the kitchen which had 4 pieces. Everything up to that point had gone smoothly. If at any time he was truly unhappy with our work he could have fired us from the job. We had more than half the work installed before even starting the kitchen. The kitchen and one small bathroom vanity were all that was left to do. It is unfortunate that we had any problems at all and in hindsight we should have delayed templating the job until all the cabinets in the kitchen were completely installed. We let ourselves be swayed by the urgency of the customer and that compromised our work. The customer was behind schedule on their job and was overseeing the job management themselves. They did have a contractor, but decided to do his job for him. The customer states that they waited their hours for us. This is completely un-true. They had sub-contractors in their home, every day, all day to complete their large scale remodel. They were always on job site. This was a large home in North Scottsdale. The customer asked us to get the work done as quickly as possible and bring out the pieces as soon as they were finished. This meant many extra trips for us, but we went the extra mile to be accommodating. We talked to her on a daily bases giving her updates, not excuses as her husband states. At the end of the job our installers even spent an extra day there making sure this customer was completely satisfied. The wife went over everything with our guys and she told them that she was happy with everything when they left. I had several conversations with her after the guys had left and she made no mention of anything being wrong or that she was unhappy in anyway. When I went to their home to get the balance of money on the job, I was invited in and then ambushed by the husband. He insisted that I give him money off the job or he was going to complain to the ROC (register of contractors), Angies List and anyone else that would listen. I told him in a polite manor that if he had issues with our work, why he had not stated them before. He never answered me on that. He just kept demanding that I give him money off. I was completely caught off guard and in the craziness of the moment I gave him what he wanted. He is very boisterous and a little intimidating. I did offer to fix anything he was unhappy with, but he declined. He just wanted the money off and he stated that was the only thing that would make him happy…or so he stated. In hindsight I should have brought in the Register of Contractors to settle the matter. If you look at the date of this post you will see that it was posted in February 2012. We completed their home in September 2011. He posted this after he had a problem with a 50” sink we custom made for him. This was a 4 sided sink that we made out of the same material as the counter tops. When I discussed making this sink with his wife, I told her that this sink usually gets a strainer and it can’t handle vibration from a garbage disposal like a regular sink. This was made like a box with no top. Four sides and a bottom made out of the same material as the countertop. This was not a molded sink with slopes. When his wife asked us to make this sink we went over all the information in regards to this sink. She viewed a completed sink in the showroom and we made her sink exactly the same as the one in the showroom. The sink bottom is a flat piece with a hole for the drain. There is no slope to the drain, just a flat bottom. She knew this, it was discussed. I explained to her that vibration from a garbage disposal can damage the integrity of the epoxy. That the garbage disposal needed to be mounted in such a way as to be supported from the bottom and something added to dissipate the vibration. From the looks of the pictures her husband sent me, known of these things had been done. I offered to fix the sink for him, but he declined. I spoke to Angies List and told them that I would fix anything he felt was wrong with the job. He then withdrew his filing with Angies List for any resolution through them. I will look into being able to post pictures of the completed job. We have had no dealings with Angies List prior to this and I am un-familiar with their practices. I would like to also say in conclusion, would you pay for a job if it was as awful as he stated it was? I wouldn’t, I would want the pieces replaced. I can’t explain why this customer does what he does. But after dealing with him, I know that he has a real negative personality and he makes everyone feel un-easy around him. Please considered everything when making your final evaluation on whether you feel comfortable using our company. I can provide many references, including his contractor that was hired for his remodel. We deal with contractors all the time and they know more about the finished product then the average home owner. They have confidence in us and I would be happy to give you their information for you to get their feedback. I have also sent out questionnaires to many of our customers asking them for evaluations on their job experience. Once the customers summit them to Angies List they will update our profile. This will give you additional customers’ perspective and quality. Questionnaires were provided by Angies List to pass out to our customers. Please also check with the register of contractors Residential License #216824. Regards, Jayne
