+ -1 moreVery smoothly. Mr. Stinson has been in the business for decades and really knows his stuff. Didn't take him very long to diagnose the problem and fix it, then do the routine preventive maintenance - it's a pleasure to watch an experienced guy ply his trade.
Description of Work: Got the door so it would operate correctly (the optical sensor was being triggered by the morning sun so you couldn't get the door to close without multiple hitting of the close button). Then he went through the door, door track, door spring, etc. and did a thorough checkup, lubricated everything, made sure the door & spring were balanced, etc.

+ -1 moreIt went very well. I initially called Mr. Stinson's office and told them what the problem was, my address and contact phone no. They said he'd call back before noon and he did. We set an appointment time and he arrived right on time. He was able to diagnose the problem pretty quickly, did the correction needed and then did a "garage door tune-up" Total cost was $75 and it not only cleared up the immediate problem but also addressed some other issues we'd been having but which were just nuisances (not important enough to justify a service call). I was very pleased with Mr. Stinson's ability to diagnose & fix the problem and then do preventative work.
Description of Work: Garage door was not going all the way down when button pushed, but would just move a bit then reverse and open back up. Mr. Stinson looked at the situation, reviewed the operation manual (he carried a set of many manuals for all sorts of garage doors & openers), and determined the cause (there was an extra unneeded tube on the light sending unit). He also suggested securing the light sending unit so it was held more rigidly than the original equipment bracket would do. He went thru and lubricated all the hinges with Teflon and checked the spring tension and balance of the door (so the door opening screw would not need to work very hard to open/close the door). He adjusted the final door opening so that it would allow a slightly taller vehicle to enter the garage.

+ -1 moreMR. STINSON REPLACED THE TENSION SPRING AND ALSO NOTICED THAT THE ANCHOR BOARD, THAT ANCHORS THE SPRING ROD TO THE WALL, WAS SPLIT. HE MOVED THE ANCHOR SYSTEM AT NO CHARGE. HE WAS VERY PROMPT AND DID THE WORK HE SAID HE WOULD DO FOR THE AMOUNT HE QUOTED ME.
Description of Work: THE LARGE TENSION SPRING THAT PULLS THE GARAGE DOOR UP HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE GARAGE DOOR COULD NOT BE OPENED.
