Excellent. We are especially pleased that Stratton Restoration under the leadership of Paul Taft was prompt in completing the kitchen cabinets and plumbing quickly enough to be functional, thus home cooked meals again. The workers showed excellent professionalism and skills in getting the rest of the project done, even with the challenge of replacing obsolete parts.

The carpenters did excellent, were friendly and left the cabinets looking like they did before the water leak started. The choice of plumbers was questionable, as the first one didn't get the dishwasher in right, and after three more plumbers corrected the RO system, connected up the sink, and re-installed the dishwasher, we still had issues with the dishwasher. Finally, one of the carpenters fixed the dishwasher installation. The flooring people did an excellent job and the floor now looks beautiful.

The challenge was trying to match 20 year old styles of countertop laminate and the high end flooring. They understood our need to first get the kitchen functional, and then perform the other repairs. Right away they began rebuilding, then installing the cabinets, the dishwasher and everything under the sink, so we could use the kitchen. Then they completed the rest of the restoration as supplies became available and flooring was selected. All of their workers were very polite and careful as they worked. I selected Quality rating as good on average. Their choice of plumbers needs help. It took four plumbers and one carpenter to get everything right with no leaks.

Initially they said that the work could be completed within a week, but it lasted for 3-4 weeks. The end result was great. The wall looks like it has always been there, and the room is really nice, but it was rather expensive for what I thought they did. Overall they did a great job. The time line that they initially gave just went away, and I think it had to do with other people to do the job. The electrician was subcontracted, the dry wall people were different. They gave me a quote, and they stuck with the quote. There was something that they said they would do, but they weren't able to do it, and they deducted that from the cost. I am really happy with the outcome. If I really need to, I would use them, but I would look at other contractors because of the price, and the timeline.

We chose Stratton because they seemed to have a good selection of flooring and a showroom where we could see our options. We wanted to get an exact replacement of our existing laminate in some areas and tile in others and requested a quote for the same. The quote came in higher compared to what our insurance had estimated. We personally scoured the internet and found a site where we could source the laminate at a lower price and sent this information to the project manager. The project manager initially hesitated but later said he could make it work. It is surprising that we had to do this homework and provide sourcing options.
The quote which was provided includes showroom cost and a profit margin which insurance agreed to cover. Please note we had a received a lower quote from another contractor - so Stratton is certainly more expensive because of the showroom overhead.
The work got scheduled 3 weeks after we had accepted their quote - Stratton cited time needed to get the laminate inhouse as the reason. On the first day of the scheduled start - no one showed up for a few hours prompting a call to their office.
The tile guy showed up with a tile which was different from what we had originally selected. We had to go the showroom to show them our selection. The tile guy was unable to find what we had selected in the warehouse. It is surprising that the down-selected tile was not sourced to be ready in time for the installation. In fact, they said it had been discontinued. How could they quote us and not check this?
We were given other options from the tiles which were available at that time - we declined and decided to search in nearby stores and were able to find it. We asked Stratton to source it from this store, but Stratton said we would have to pay extra - we found this to be highly unreasonable, but since we did not want to hold up the project, we agreed to pay 50% of the extra amount Stratton was requesting. This delayed the tiling by few days.
The laminate and tile installers were very professional. It was discovered that the required amount of connection pieces had not been ordered and the laminate installers would have to come back a week later when the pieces were available - another big miss in project planning.
A few weeks after the installation we noticed the laminate creaking and requested an inspection.
The Stratton representative expressed surprise and said they would schedule an appointment with the distributor because they were unsure why that was happening. Post inspection, they concluded that the floor was installed correctly, but maybe because of the floor leveling issues, we were noticing creaking. We had no such issues with the old laminate, so it is hard for us to accept this reasoning. They have asked us to monitor it for 6 months and get back if we continue to see issues.
Overall, it was not a pleasant experience and required a lot of baby-sitting on our part - more competence is
expected of an operation the size of Stratton.

One of the reasons that I contracted with Stratton was the fact that they were on the list of my insurance company's preferred contractors as well as having a good reputation on Angie's List, the Registrar of Contractors, and the BBB. I believe that they have earned a good reputation, based on the job they did at my home. The workmen were prompt, polite, worked efficiently and steadily, and completed their work to a professional level - this description became the rule. The company staff, from the estimator/job manager, Kevin, to the office staff (Rosie and Melissa) were professional, helpful, and knowledgeable. My mortgage company had to be notified and paperwork filed with them for the work to continue - Stratton's office staff (thanks, Rosie ! ) took care of over-nighting the information once I gathered the needed data. That made it a lot easier on me. I have seen tv and movies about remodeling always going way past the deadline date - I know this was a smaller job than many, but all schedules were kept and the work was all completed as stated. I never want to go through a water damage situation again, but if I did, I would be happy to rely on Stratton again.

I do not live in phx anymore so this contractor was able to show me samples via email on everything that was needed. They were great to work with all around especially since my tenants were not. They even had online payment options. I can not rate on price because this was done through my insurance company and never needed a project like this done before. I will say that my house is 1957 home with original bathrooms so im sure the project was difficult for the contractor. I also didn't think i can rate on quality since i haven't seen it in person. I will say that it all looks beautiful from the pics they provided. There were a few things that we had to wait on due to them showing up broken but everything was handled quickly and professionally and they worked closely with my tenants to make them happy.

My home was recently burglarized. The thieves did a great deal of damage entering my home. I chose three contractors for bid submission. I work for a large insurance company, so I am familiar the estimate process and the type of service which should be provided. I ultimately chose Stratton Builders. Their bid came right in the middle but I felt there was a very professional air about this company, and I was proven right. Alex Scara and Dave Carpenter did the initial estimate. Both were very professional and knowledgeable with regard to what needed to be done. I had several questions during the estimating process. I would leave messages for Alex and never had to wait more than an hour for a response. That was if he didn’t answer on the first or second ring. I received my bid within 48 hours and I was very pleased with the figures. Because there were several parts to the estimate, I felt that I had to wait until all parts were ordered in order to have repairs started. I found that this was not the case. I contacted Alex, as part of the burglary included damage to my front door. Alex had a service rep come out within a day of request to fix my front door. Paul and Raul came to replace my back sliding glass patio door and make some other minor damage repairs. They were both courteous, friendly, knowledgeable, and above all, on time! They kept the mess to a minimum and even cleaned up after themselves on their first day, even knowing they’d be back the following day. They worked quietly and efficiently. Paul was very patient when answering my questions with regard to a certain repair or process. The end result is that I am very happy with the repairs and I am very impressed with the employees of Stratton Builders. I would totally recommend Stratton in the future.

Stratton came to do repair work after a pipe broke. During the repair, it rained and water leaked heavily around the French doors. Fortunately, this was before the new carpet was put down. Stratton fixed the doors - I've had numerous people out to try to fix these doors (in fact, I even replaced the doors) - and Stratton is the only one who got it right. I was not only impressed with the work they performed, but was also very appreciative that they cleaned up after themselves! I also appreciate how they worked with my difficult schedule and did the work on my time table. Every Stratton Builders employee I met was courteous and professional. Stratton Builders went out of their way to ensure that I was satisfied.
