In January, I brought my laptop in for repair because I had spilled coffee on the keyboard. I was told it was something minor and just needed a replacement keyboard cover. When I checked on my computer a week later, I was told that the part was accidentally shipped somewhere else. I logged all conversations with the owner from Feb. 13 until yesterday (May 29). Although I was told that someone would call me when it was ready, there hasn't even been one time when they called me. I was even promised on April 11th that not only was the computer ready, but he would bring it to my house that evening at 7 PM. When he didn't show or call, I went to the store the next day and he said he didn't have my phone number available and would be there the next evening. I called to confirm that during the day and he claimed that, although he thought my computer was fixed, it was not reliable. At that point, after waiting almost four months, he said he was going to get me a new Toshiba laptop for the $50 cost for the original fee to fix mine. I was also told my hard drive was fine so he would also transfer all my documents and pictures to the new one. Every time I called or stopped by there was another excuse or lie given to me. On May 6, there was a new person, William Mitchell at the store. The first time I dealt with him, he said he would transfer my call to Gordon who was off site. Gordon again made promises and after a few days of still not hearing anything, I went down to the store. William Mitchell was there and explained that he was the new owner and after hearing all that had transpired, he told me he would make things right and by Friday of that week, I would have a computer, either mine fixed or a new one. When I didn't hear from him, I showed up at the store again early the next week. Again, I was told by Mr. Mitchell that he had purchased the company and I insisted on looking for my computer. It wasn't even there. William said he'd speak to Gordon again and would call me. He didn't call so I went in again and, again, he called Gordon while I was there and was told, again, that a computer was on it's way. I waited a few days and William said the computer came in but was lacking an operating system so I'd have to wait because he had many other customers' computers on which to work. I called, again, before I left town for a week and was told that it would be ready when I returned in a week. I showed up on May 29th to get my computer and was told that the computer that came in turned out to be someone else's and that Gordon had lied to him (William Mitchell). I was also told, at this time only, that Gordon was in the process of declaring bankruptcy and that he, William, only bought Gordon's assets, not his liabilities. Why wasn't I told any of this before so I could pursue Gordon before bankruptcy? Why did he promise me to make good on my computer that was either sold, given away or whatever? Why did he say he would call and yet never did? He claims he is changing the name (and the signage is on order) for the store. He claims his attorney sys he is not responsible but then why did he refer to himself as the "new owner", why do I have a computer guys business card with his name on it.? Does this not identify him as being responsible for representing that company?

On 5/16/13, I returned the computer to get a refund and was told that would not be possible. The new owner stated that for $40.00 he would upgrade the RAM from 32-bit to 64-bit and for $30.00 more he would install a larger 4gb hard drive which would be able to operate Windows 7 smooothly and efficiently. I had also asked about voice-activation which is part of Windows 7. Because he is a computer technician, I asked to have the machine totally cleaned ( as the previous owners' maps were in Google maps); Firefox as my default broswer; and Google as the home page when I started the computer and to remove all of the programs I do not ever use--Hulu2, CD Burning for example. He said he could order a microphone for another $60.00. I said great, please do it. He then asked when I wanted to pick up the computer and we decided on next Wednesday, 5/22/13. I called his office on Friday, 5/24/13, and was told he was out and was reassured she would have him call me as soon as he came in that afternoon. I did not receive a call at all on Friday. I then called on Saturday 5/25/13, and he said that he would call me when it was ready. As of today, 5/28/13, I still have not received a call from him as the when the computer will be ready with the needed updates and software.
Description of Work: I originally took my 17-year-old hard drive in to have the audio repaired. I was offered a newer used computer with Windows 7 for $250.00--cash. The used computer I had originally purchased in 4/10/13, was not equipped with enough memory to use Windows 7 operating system and would not load at all. Unbeknownst to me, the newer computer did not have the capacity to operate Windows 7.

I think I said it all above. I am so happy to find a good computer person. Everyone who came in that store while I was there was very happy too. I would highly recommend Gordon. You cannot go wrong. So I got a new computer and a monitor for 100.00 more then I would have paid for a monitor alone at Costco. His credit card machine was down so I have to pay cash. I have requested for him to give me a receipt since I forgot to get it then. Ever since then I am having trouble getting him to give me a receipt.
Description of Work: I am a snowbird in Arizona. I had an old XP computer that I used for an old DOS program I really needed. I bought a new flat monitor at Costco for 150..00, It would not work with my computer I found Gordon at ComputerGUys in the web. I talked to him and he knew just what I need over the phone. He told me he had a great Dell monitor for 50.00. So when I went in to his store, he was going to install a new video card in my old computer. However, he was able to sell me a better XP computer a Dell, and the monitor for 250.00. He added lots of free software and a CD burner for free. The monitor has build in sound and is great. I did have an issue with the CD burner which he replaced the next day. I am a happy camper No so much anymore!!! I contacted Gordon several times regarding getting a receipt. He would not return my calls and would noy e mail me a receipt. I went to his store he was not there and did not contact me ever. Must have some issues when customers pay cash. Too bad I forgot the receipt the first time,,,,,,,
