Our experience with NWA Garage Door couldn't have gone better. I was able to get same day service that was delivered in the time frame that was given when I made the appointment. The technician called me when he was about 20 minutes from my home to let me know he had left his last service call and was on his way. He was cordial, patient as I asked numerous questions, and performed his work quickly and efficiently. He took the broken springs with him so we wouldn't have to dispose of them. I would highly recommend this company for their professionalism and quality of the work that was performed and will call them again if we have need of their services. Thank you, Perry, and NWA Garage Door!
I called Tuesday morning, about 8:15ish. The owner was driving, but he pulled over so he could take down my information and make note of the issue I was having. He asked a few questions to make sure he had all the information he needed. He then let me know that he would see what he had available when he got into the office. He called me about 9:15 stating the work truck would be at my house in 45 minutes to an hour.
The gentleman showed up on time, as promised. I explained the issue we were having. He promptly looked my the garage door motor and noticed the gear was stripped and needed replacing. He explained all the options - just replacing the gear or replacing the whole motor. He also let me know during his quick look over of the garage door parts he noticed a few other things. He let me know that replacing just the gear might not fix all of those items, but was NOT pushy or trying to talk me into spending more money. Just making me aware of potential future issues, which I appreciate. After I had all my options, I needed to speak with my husband. The gentleman was patient and understood this. He chatted with me for a few minutes while I tried to reach my husband. He stayed close by to answer any additional questions me or my husband had, but not overly close as to where I felt he was invading my phone conversation.
Once my husband and I made our decision, he was quick to get to work and replace the motor. (He had numerous options with him, which I thought was smart and time saving, so he wouldn't have to go to the shop and return at a later date/time) He was efficient while doing so. When it came time to enter the passcode on the new keypad, he respected my privacy and didn't even look in my direction while I was entering the number.
Once everything was set up, he showed me all the new features we had available. Also, he reminded me to enter the warranty information online so we would be covered. I reviewed the invoice, which was exactly the price he quoted me, NO extra fees. He took all his trash, even the old garage door mechanisms, and returned any item he had to move to it's original location (I don't think he had to move anything, but if he did, I didn't notice it out of place)
"Thank you for the review, we appreciate your business"
On 03/20/14 Perry was in our office demanding the second payment on the project; another $16,638, yet no work had been done. He made it clear, his contract stated the deposit was non-fundable & he wouldn?t move forward with the project without the second payment! The concrete slab should?ve been poured & the building kit delivered to our site by this point, as promised. We pushed back on his demand until the promised work was done. He then became extremely angry & loud, so we ended the conversation by saying it wasn?t going anywhere, he wasn?t giving us any choice, but to hand over another check or lose our deposit. The check was written & he left.
On 03/22/14 the concrete slab was poured. The concrete crew suggested to Perry that he wait until the weather improved before pouring (it was cold and raining); he said, ?No, pour it!? Additive wasn?t added to the concrete & the temps dropped to freezing that night. The crew & my husband stayed overnight, waiting for the concrete to cure; however, an area of roughly 1000 sq ft didn?t cure properly. When the issue was brought to Perry?s attention he again became angry & stated the slab was ?exceptional, especially for a
warehouse??! Although you could clearly see the damage, we decided to wait until the project was completed before pressing the issue ~ We knew it was going to be a fight; he will argue all of his work is ?exceptional? & will not accept responsibility for anything less.
On 03/26/14 the building was erected & everyday after that we had water pouring into our building when it rained! The roof was poorly constructed; the pitch was off allowing the water to drain outside the valley pan & leak into the building! More problems!
On 04/09/14 we received our final invoice. Not only were we charged the full balance; we were charged for work we didn?t approve!
Communicating with Perry in-person & via phone was a complete waste of time; he would talk over us, yell, scream and/or hang up on us. He kept stating the slab was ?exceptional?, his work was done & final payment was due immediately. He was so angry at one point, he threatened physical harm to my husband the next time he saw him!
Clearly a verbal conversation was impossible so we attempted to address the issues via text & email. He refused to communicate in writing stating we needed to call his office to schedule a meeting. We cont'd to pursue communication via email, in hopes of a resolution, so he blocked our email address!?
When we refused payment until the issues were corrected or a resolution was agreed upon, he responded with a NEW invoice with additional charges & threatened to file a lien on our property if payment wasn?t received!
We now had an invoice for $12,706 for attempted repair work on the concrete slab & an estimate for a temporary fix for the leaks in the roof for $800+. The only permanent repair for the roof was to start over! Leaving us with repairs work every 1?3 yrs. We were also alerted of ?ripples or waves? in the slab when the attempted repair work was done! This was caused by an uneven grade that was
done by Perry himself & a friend of his (according to the concrete crew). The crew alerted him of the issue, but again, he refused to acknowledge his poor workmanship & moved the project forward.
Frustrated with the additional & unexpected expenses for repair work along with Perry?s unwillingness to accept responsibility for the issues & work towards a resolution, we stood our ground.
Within days papers were served indicating his intent to file a lien on our property if payment wasn?t received within 10 days. Again, with a NEW invoice & additional charges?! We immediately contacted our attorney.
We would NEVER recommend Perry Chupp! It?s our hope others will avoid the risk of doing business with Perry by us sharing our experience!
Would not recommend this contractor.
