During the course of installation construction debris (roofing tacks, etc) were left all over my yard as well as my neighbors driveway and repeated attempts to get the crew to clean up after themselves were ignored. MIke Donnelly and Heavenly Exteriors also took it upon themselves, without receiving my permission) to store materials for other jobs on my property, a practice that went on after their job was "finished" at my house. This material stayed in my yard until I had it hauled to the dump at my expense.
I called both a home inspector and a certified Hardie Board installer to my home after work was completed and both told me within 5 minutes of being at my house that the siding job was done incorrectly. Whole pieces of siding were falling off of my house. It was then that we noticed that the siding material was not James Hardie branded material, as quoted and paid for, but rather an off-brand version of cement board siding.
At this point I began calling and texting Mike until I finally got him to answer. His response to all of this? "Well, I guess you could sue me." Verbatim. That was his initial response. After negotiating for weeks he finally agreed to purchase new materials, leaving me to pay another contractor to re-do the entire job correctly.
During the demolition of the sub-standard work performed by Heavenly Exteriors it was discovered that Heavenly Exteriors had not properly installed a a vapor barrier over roughly 50% of the house nor had he installed insulation as he was paid to do.
When contacted about this Mike Donnelly mentioned that he had not paid for the replacement Hardie Board and that he just might not and let the lumbar yard place a lien on my home. He also said that I should just sue him.
When we accepted his proposal, Mike set up an estimated date to start the work. He then kept us informed when the date had to be moved back a few days. His crew showed up on the day promised and were professional throughout the work. Shane was in charge and listened to all questions, explained why certain things were being done and was responsive to request. We purchases new lights (front and back) and Shane had no problem putting them together and installing them for us. He also noticed our front entry rough out for the door was slightly higher than normal. This presented a challenge as to what to put there. Shane, gave me suggestions of putting a piece of cedar there (stained to match new door if we wished., or putting a board there wrapped in metal. We chose the metal and he said if we didn't like it he'd be glad to change it for us! The work was completed in a very timely manner and they even cleaned up nicely for the weekend. After the work was done I ran into the side of the garage with my truck bending the metal and also noticed some rain water coming down behind the gutters in a few places. Called Mike and after laughing about my accident he told me he'd be out to look at it the next time it rained. A few days later Mike was at my door at 8am to look. He replaced the bent metal I caused at no charge and is at the house right now lowering the gutters slightly to correct the flow off the roof. I highly recommend Mike and his crew for your job.
Showed up on the weekend to get the estimate done quickly. Showed up on time, work done as promised and on budget. Craftsmanship was excellent. Neighbors asked for contact information after seeing the transformation.
Had received quotes from bigger companies, but Mike was the correct choice!
Wanted a good job at a reasonable price and was willing to be flexible on the timing and delivery. We called Mike
Donnelly in November 2012 for a bid. At the time Mike was upfront he had a 3 to 4 month backlog and preferred not to bid because of the long delivery. Other installers had a 2 week to 3 week wait. Ask Mike if he could provide a bid in November anyway. Figured Heavenly Exteriors was in demand because of quality of work and pricing. Mike suggested adding Dental Molding to accent the front of the house, a nice touch. Once we met Mike and got the bid, we were willing to be patient even if it was 4 months out.
We called Mike back in February (3 ½ months) saying we were still interested. He said would have a crew out in 2 weeks. It did take 3 weeks to complete the siding and gutters as it rained a lot and cold weather came thru. I am a very particular when it comes to quality of work and less concerned about how fast the work is completed. Heavenly Exteriors, Mike, and the installer
team exceeded my expectations.
Even though it was a 4 month wait, I did give an ?A? on Responsiveness. Mike was upfront on how much backlog he had, weather would cause delay's, and he made time off commitments to his installer teams over the holidays.
Mike was a hoot to work with. Heavenly Exteriors understood our needs and met everyone.
The extra's he suggested were spot on.
When an issue arose, Heavenly Exteriors's crew and Mike not only responded immediately but took care of non-HE issues while we were away, saving us untold cost and aggrevation.
We love these guys.
Before and after pix will be posted later.
We are extremely happy and know you will be too. G/A
