  1. I contracted Mr. Smith to lay ceramic planks at the recommendation of the flooring supplier, Floor Trader.  He very promptly came to my house to offer the quote, and was accommodating and courteous on the initial visit when trying to get the business.  His pricing was about average, and since his schedule was a little busy, we performed most of the flooring removal ourselves to allow the work to be completed by the date we preferred, which was upon our return from a brief trip.
  2. The floors from a far distance are beautiful.  However, the quality of work and sheer lack of professionalism is beyond disappointing:

* A large percentage of planks are uneven to the point where some even have the corners or ends up high enough to scrape toes!
 * There are a couple of planks that are "hollow" underneath
 * They did not account for having to replace the pedestal back under the sink, so it was not put back in place and we had to contract with a plumber to get it fixed; added unanticipated expense.
* They underestimated the quantity of tile needed, which isn't a big deal.  But after purchasing additional planks that would also allow for ample spares, they did not leave them for us!  (Thanks for the half bag of cement, though!)
* Icing on the cake:  They turned the A/C units down so when we got home they were frozen up and I had to contact a repair company to make a weekend/after-hours visit; added unanticipated expense.  I understand it was the middle of the summer and the labor they were performing would have made it warm, so I don't even have an issue with them adjusting the thermostat slightly.  However, they adjusted it so low without consideration for the effect it would have on their customer.  Worst part of that, though, was the extreme lack of professionalism shown to me when I called to give Mr. Smith a heads-up that they had left it on and they may want to be more diligent with future customers because it froze up our unit.  I told him I solely was informing him as a courtesy.  Rather than saying, "Thank you for the heads up; we'll try to remember next time," or offering an apology, he instead got extremely defensive, and responded with, "Well it was hot!"  After telling him I understood that but thought he may want to know adjusting it to such an extreme caused damage and now expense for us, he got extremely angry and started informing me that he'd "offer to pay for it to be fixed but he didn't charge me for several things!"   Laughable, given I saw the initial quote, removed our own flooring and hardly got the discount for that work!
Sadly, I contacted Floor Trader about the extremely unprofessional behavior of their recommended contractor.  Their response was that they had had issues with him in the past.  That was after they had told me had they known I was related to another customer of theirs that they placed with a different contractor, they never would have referred me to Mr. Smith!

I specifically used Mr. Smith because of recommendations on Angie's List. His quote was a bit higher than others but he could do the job quicker than the other people we talked to. Mr. Smith wanted to do the least amount of work  possible for the money. His two helpers were very accommodating but it was like pulling teeth to get him to do the job the way we, the paying customer, wanted it. We agreed to pay the extra fee for having the tile staggered. But it was apparent he did not want to do the extra work. Every other flooring person I have dealt with took pride in their work, would offer professional advice, and tried to make the customer happy. I would not use him nor recommend him to anyone else. The install looks good but when you walk across the floor without shoes the tiles are very uneven. I have other tile in my house and immediately noticed the difference when I walked across the tile Mr. Smith installed. In addition, I purchased my tile from a big box store. I gave them the measurements and they told me how much tile I needed. Mr. Smith said I needed more and sent me out to purchase more. I had to purchase something that did not match exactly so wanted to incorporate it in the rug design in the middle. He would not consider it and threatened to leave. His assistant mediated a solution which was not what I wanted. At this point I was so frustrated I gave in. As it turns out there was enough of the original tile to complete the floor. So not only did I get a floor design I did not like but I had to spend an additional $40 on tile.He did show up when he said he would.

Glynn Smith is doing a crack-up job. He is very prompt. He came out the same day the floors were delivered to us. He is very amiable to work with. He has a good crew that?s been with him for a long time. They have at least hundred years of experience, combined. They bought the material out here two days later and commenced tearing out old carpet. It?s plenty of work that they are doing. They are working around our furniture. They are doing a great job, so far. They said they would start on Monday and be out of here by Friday but I think they will be done before that. They are moving quickly. I?m not sure on the price because this is the first time I?m getting floors installed and I don?t have anything to compare it to. I would absolutely use them in the future if required.
