Three of my Laptops where having issues, my two Son's Gateway computers each had a power jack problem, and my laptop was having USB port issues. On Call 258 came to my house, picked up the laptops and took them back to their shop for diagnosis. There were able to fix the power jack issues, and estimated the cost to fix the USB ports. I decided not to have the USB ports fixed because the cost was more than I wanted to spend to fix the old laptop, they brought all the laptops back in great condition, I would definitely use them again! Very Convenient, and very professional.

Miracle workers! I bashed up the corner of my laptop so it was unusable. The technician was able to fix it so it looked and worked like new. The time and cost estimates were spot on. Would definitely come back for all my laptop repairs.

He arrived a few minutes late, but no big deal there. He got right to work, and had the network established, laptop access, and the desktop switched from direct DSL to wireless access within 90 minutes. He also had to do a couple of quick fixes to my desktop, to make it run faster. The only minor glitch was that at first he thought he couldn't establish Internet access to my desktop since the wireless plug-in needed a newer version USB port than was available on my desktop. However, once I asked if he couldn't use a port on one of my USB busses, rather than directly to one of the desktop USB ports, he was able to make that work. He had to re-set my printer spool service, but did that quickly. Overall, I was very impressed, and would recommend this company to anyone who asks. And all of this work cost me $85! Amazing!!!

I dropped off the CPU and printer for ''rebuilding'' CPU and troubleshooting printer. Kirk had quoted a price of $150 for rebuilding and that was the price he charged. Total price was $290, including adding 512 K RAM, spy software and USB ports. Work was done in 48 hours and the computer has worked fine since. I am very satisfied with work completed. Price charged was good.

As always with Mike, superior work. Have worked with other tech support firms, but he is always efficient, pleasant, and honest. No "scamming" from him, no outrageous product/service offers. I have used him numerous times, and he always bails me out painlessly.. I rely on him and trust his integrity.

Fil Feit came on very short notice to assist me with the printer problem/installation, and though the printer had never been installed, Fil brought along a USB cable extension, which I could not locate, and worked about forty minutes or less. Everything went splendidly, as I knew it would. Fil managed to fit me in between clients that day, on very short notice, and it was greatly appreciated.

Fred was excellent to work with, and I would recommend him to anyone. He thoroughly explained the issues, laid out the alternatives, and completed the chosen work quickly. His pricing was fair, and he laid out everything up front. All in all a very good experience coming from someone who has always handled their own computer problems before. Thanks.

It went wonderfully. One, a genealogy program, was an easy fix. The other, a data base program, was more difficult - the programs were not exactly the same. Cameron questioned the manufacturer, and acted upon their replies. He also resurrected a flash drive I thought was dead and transferred the data from it. I had some little of problems that he solved. As we worked, he gave me instructions on how to manage the problems myself. He was patient and helpful. I really appreciate his time and efforts. He is within walking distance, and I will return for assistance if and when I need it. It was really a pleasure.

They ran tests on my USB ports, found they were functioning, then tested the new (wireless) keyboard I got from Best Buy the day before. The ports checked out fine, but the new printer did not. The USB receiver that came with the keyboard was inoperable. Worried that I would still need a keyboard quickly and might be unable to return the Best Buy printer quickly, I asked if they had a wireless printer/mouse combo they could sell me. They found one for under $50, and I was good to go. They were very friendly, worked quickly and did not press me to buy the keyboard that I ultimately DID request. This was my second experience with these folks, and I would never go anywhere else. Last visit I had them recover all my files on a dying drive, replace the drive, double the RAM, install a WiFi card and bought a router, all costing me less than $300. They are the best, in my book. I will definitely use them again if I need them.

I am not a computer geek, but I am also not totally helpless when it comes to computers. I built my own desktop (with help from the internet) and have had several issues over the years that I have been able to solve. Then, it crashed harder than I've ever seen. I couldn't get it to boot even after making a bootable USB. That's why you take it to an expert. Taha fixed it in a couple days, $40 diagnostics and a $100 service fee. Under $200 is a win for me. Great service: he explained the problem and how he fixed it and saved all my important files. Highly recommended!

I gave the tech a list of the BSOD error messages. He clicked around a few times, and after about 45 minutes, the device worked just kicked in. This was not unusual. I just needed the device to work faster than by trial and error over 45 minutes. The tech left after charging me $25 for the service call and $99 for the first hour of work (actually only 45 minutes). I then got my courage together, reinstalled the Windows updates, contacted McAfee for help to reinstall the VSAN update, and after googling my way into finding that the BSOD error messages indicated that there was a problem with the drivers, downloaded a whole bunch of drivers. Now the device works just fine when I plug it in.

The power switch for my 3 year old desktop computer worked only intermittently and needed replacing. Also, I recently purchased an external 1 terabyte USB 3.0 hard drive + interface (for system backups) from an on-line retailer (suggested by the people at CWP who I've dealt with before). After installation, the built-in installation program (for the hard drive and interface) failed. I was unable to find the needed drivers on-line so I could install them manually; so, I was left with a non-functional external hard drive. Finally, the quality of the sound from my desktop had been gradually deteriorating to the point it was unacceptable. So, I asked CWP to see if I needed a new sound card and to replace it if needed. My computer was ready to pick up the next afternoon, and I was both surprised and delighted when the bill was $37.50 for replacing the power switch and getting my external hard drive working. With regard to the sound a card, I was told that when the guys at CDW attached their powered speakers to my computer, everything worked properly. They said I should go home and check my cables and powered speakers. When I expressed my surprise at the more than reasonable bill, they said it only took a half-and hour to do the job, so they only charged me for a half hour with no charge for the power switch as they had an extra on-hand. I will definitely go back CWP for any work I need done on my computers in the future. The only reason I didn't give them A's across the board is the people there, while extremely friendly, knowledgeable, competent, prompt, and appropriately "geeky", are a little "laid back" which might make some people wonder.

The technician arrived on time and was courteous and knowledgeable. He was able to access the router, correct the IP problem and connect the computer that had not been receiving a signal from the wireless router to our wireless router and our Internet service provider. In the process of fixing one computer, the second computer in the house became unable to stay connected displayed conflicting information about whether there was or was not a connection. The technician told us that we should consider purchasing a new router and a new wireless adapter (for one of the computers). He charged us $250 and left. Later in the day, I unplugged the wireless adapter and then plugged it in again in another USB port. The problem is fixed, at least for now. The technician later told me in a follow-up email that the situation with the computers in our house was "flakey."

Cheaper Than A Geek

We found these "Cheaper Than A Geek" folks and called them up. The rep I spoke with (David) was very polite and did a good job calming me down. They promised to only charge a diagnostics fee if they could not recover data. And pickup/dropoff was free. We rolled the dice and I am glad we did. They kept us informed while they worked on it, and they came through. We had our files back in the blink of an eye on a cool looking metal flash drive. Our tech Chris was very nice and didn't mind answering our questions. Everyone there seemed to genuinely care about us situation and seemed to actually enjoy what they do (what a breathe of fresh air). While I hope we don't have computer problems again I definitely know we will call them if we do!

Geek Squad - Best Buy
5.0
I took my laptop to the Geek Squad at the Best Buy store in Bailey's Crossroads and they promised to have it fixed and back to me within three days but it took a week--they didn't even call to let me know it was taking longer than expected and their automated system didn't provide any details either. After getting it home, I was unable to reinstall my printer, my wireless mouse did not work, and I couldn't save any of my favorites! I called and scheduled a home visit and they gave me a four hour time frame for the agent to arrive but he called and said he may not be able to come because of car troubles! Anyhow, I called the office and got someone very nice and helpful and finally got an agent there later the same day--I was stuck waiting for nearly 8 hours! He was very professional, helpful, and got everything fixed and working properly again--not sure why the USB drives weren't checked at the store which would've saved the home visit! It was a rough start but all is well now. Not sure I would use them again unless I was in no hurry to get the work done...

Everything went unbelievably well, far beyond my expectations and far below the anticipated cost. On his initial visit, the highly capable and knowledgeable computer technician, Shawn Wyatt, expertly connected and set up my new all-in-one printer to work with USB and Wi-Fi connections on two PCs, as well as Airprint on my iPad. The HP software for that printer does not include an option to display a preview before printing, so he installed PrimoPDF and showed me how to use it as a very satisfactory print preview mechanism. On my request, Shawn diagnosed and fixed a longstanding system problem I was having with restart and shutdown on the older PC. He then tested the sluggish hard drive and confirmed that it was failing -- in part because the PC had so little RAM that the hard disk had been constantly overloading with temporary storage in order to compensate. So I asked him to order a new hard disk and a lot of additional memory. He also spent some time showing me how to get the most out of my recently installed Windows 10 OS on the newer PC. My total cost for that very productive initial two-hour visit ? printer setup and a variety of helpful suggestions, diagnoses, and fixes ? amounted to $185 including the $25 travel fee. A couple of weeks later, after the new parts he ordered had arrived at the TechMedX shop, Shawn picked up the older PC and took it back to the shop to clone and replace the failing hard disk and install the extra memory. My total cost this time around for all the expert labor, travel time, new parts (1 TB internal drive and 8 GB of additional RAM) and reinstallation and testing of the PC was around $330, or nearly 40% below the initial estimate. I should add that everything I requested and all the visits to my home were completed on time or earlier, and it was a great pleasure dealing with the helpful and friendly staff of TechMedX ? both Shawn in the field and Dawn at the office. I highly recommend the company's services.
