Emerald City Fence built a combo of black chain link and wood fencing in my yard. I was impressed with the knowledge of the sales woman that came out, and that lead me to signing on the spot. The crew did an excellent job building my fence and now my wife and dogs are happy. Nothing but Excellence from them.

We have hired them before and was extremely happy with their work. The crew was careful with all of my plantings along the fence line and had great attention to details on things I didn't think about. When Kim showed up to give me a quote on the extension of fence and saw the obstacles in the way, she knew exactly what needed to be done and that was really great. You don't see very many people who care and act as if they were building a fence in their own yard. Not only do I have a beautiful fence my puppies can run free! Thank you Kim and all of Emerald City Fence, your the best!!

They pretty much did a good job. The price was A. They were pretty responsive.

Kim, the owner, came out to give the estimate. She was very nice and courteous. I decided to go with Emerald City Fence because of her. Work was done. Not the cleanest worker. Lost some of the screws of my security camera mounts and didn't really care to look for them . I had to go buy new screws and reinstall my camera mounts. Gate started to sag a little around 6 months later. Emailed Kim and heard back almost a week later. Was surprised it took so long for a reply. Previously, her replies were very prompt. She called and it was a totally new Kim. She was very defensive about everything, saying my gate posts were not very good. If my gate posts were not very good, why didn't they replace them? She finally sends a guy out and he looks at it for a few minutes and takes some pictures. He tests the gate and admits that the latch is not catching properly. He says he will notify Kim. Maybe 5 minutes later, she calls me blasting me on the phone, not even letting me talk, saying that I wasted the guy's time by sending him out there and that the gate was fine.

Arrived 2 hours late. Did not install posts properly and have asked them to return to fix it. We paid in cash after the job was finished because we were told that would be the cheapest method. We asked the office for an invoice which they would not produce unless we agreed to pay 10% more to cover the tax, which apparently was not included nor were they going to cover, and were trying to do an "under the table" transaction which we did not know about. When we told them it is illegal to not pay tax, Kim, the owner/manager, got extremely nasty, rude, defensive and told us we were taking up too much of her time and we should be glad that she hasn't started charging us for "clerical hours" for asking questions. HORRIBLE customer service. She end up sending us an invoice and included that we now owe them an extra 10% for tax. I have reported this to the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General's office.

It took a little longer than anticipated, but we couldn't be happier with the look and quality of work!

I was impressed by the initial interview. The owner, Kim, spent more time with me than other bidders and better explained options. Workers did not show up on the day initially agreed upon. They communicated with me about this and then did not show up on the alternate day they suggested. They then showed up the next day. The owner had equipment problems and a serious issue in her personal life, which she did explain to me. Once on-site, they worked diligently and completed the job in two full days. They accommodated minor requests as various issues arose during the work. The fence looks great and I am happy with the final outcome.

Initial estimate, email contact & responsivness was great. Once I booked a date & paid the down payment it changed. Initially I was told they were booking 4 weeks out. I started the process end of May. Once I sent the deposit 6/15 this was the schedule, "tentatively on our schedule for the week of July 11th.  We will email you once we get closer to that week with specific days and if anything opens up before then,  we will let you know." Next communication on 7/11, "We have you scheduled for your tear out/set on Tuesday,   7/19  and back to build on Thursday, 7/21.   Sorry for the delay thank you for your understanding. No note of what time on 7/19 they would be out. Came out 7/19 & set posts. Next communication 7/20 7:49pm "I wanted to let you know that we are going to come out to you on Friday7/22, instead of tomorrow.  I am sorry for any hassle that it will cause but we didn't finish our job today and inspection is tomorrow for our contractor."  Next email from them on 7/21, "Terry,   We are very sorry but it does not look like we will be able to make it back out to your place until Monday.   We have hit some unforeseeable obstacles at another job and we will be stuck there late today and into tomorrow.      If there is someway we can make it to you tomorrow afternoon we will try   our very best.   I have a few calls out as well to see if I can get a crew in on Saturday but I have not heard back yet.    I know this will present some issues with your dog and we apologize.   If we had known,  we would have never started your fence.   Again,  we are very sorry and will do everything we can to get your fence built asap.    Please call the office if you have any questions or major concerns."  No phone call nothing. I emailed back, "Of course I have major concerns. My dog & the 4 other dogs including a Pit Bull that our fence kept away. We need to talk discount. We started this process the end of May, took sometime to decide and I was delayed in getting the check to. We were then delayed a week. I didn't say much about that delay, but now for it to take 6 days to get this completed. I am not happy!!!  As much as I appreciate the email I think for this big of a problem it warranted a personal phone call." No email no calls the entire weekend.  Mon 7/25 I called twice 10am & 11:12am, no response. 11:25am car pulls up in driveway, Kim (the boss) gets out of the car. She says she's here to help & get things moving. No acknowledgement of email, phone calls or delay. I brought it up, she had a myriad of excuses. I finally said you customer service is horrible. She out right agreed that it is horrible. Through her excuses she threw a co-worker, Janine under the bus numerous times. I finally said we need to talk some kind of discount. She said I can give you some discount but I don't know how much right now. Fence was completed that day, Kim came in with the invoice, expecting payment, of course. She discounted it $138.00, the cost of a gate, according to her.
I did receive an email on 7/28 asking if I was happy with the fence. I am happy with it, it's gorgeous, it is a little high off the ground in some spots, not quite "dog tight" like they said it would be. Sometimes you just call it good, it doesn't feel like it's worth the fight. Is there a contractor out there that shows up on time, does what they promise & completes the project on time?  If so, may I pleaze have the number.

It went very well. I was impressed with everyone I met. The fence and gates look amazing and I felt everyone went above and beyond to make it a great experience. The owner of the company worked here on the second day and I was especially impressed at the pride she took in her work. I'm a pretty anxious person and both the owner and her office staff were really kind and helpful throughout the process. I also have a big, sweet dog they made provisions and sealed up the fence very nicely for. Great quality, flexible , timely and thorough.

Emerald provided a quote and started the work on time.  Though they disappeared for a week without notice and won't return our phone calls before they returned to finish the back fence.  When they began work on the front fence they told us it was in much worse shape than originally estimated.  And told us it would cost x4 the original amount to fix now.  This would be now double the highest quote we received.  I suspect they low-balled the quote originally to get our work and then adjusted it after they finished the back fence.  We opt to use another fence builder to repair the front-gate - since it was obvious they were using deceptive business practices.  Be careful!

I received quotes from four separate fence companies. They all seemed to be providing the same thing (cedar boards, 4" posts, set in concrete, would haul away old fence, etc.) so I decided to go with lowest bid. All of the providers I received a quote from were well rated on Angie's List.

I'm very happy with the finished product. It looks good, it appears to be very sturdy, and it's straight and even. They cleaned up after themselves. Everyone I dealt with was pleasant and professional. Our schedule did get pushed out one day, but that was fine as they kept me up-to-date on what was happening. I would definitely use Emerald City Fence again.

The installation crew arrived on schedule and completed the initial phase of the job which was to install the posts in concrete. That was completed in 1 day. A few days later after the concrete was set the crew returned and installed the fence sections and the gate in a 2-day period. When they were finished, they cleaned up everything, thanked me for the opportunity get my business, and left. The on-site supervisor kept me informed about their progress and was very courteous. The fence looks GREAT!

Kim, the owner  was very quick in replying to emails and getting us a revised bid (we originally were not going to get the 2 new gates down) and then also  our neighbor to the west decided they wanted to share the fence on their side and add a little gate to their other side which required a little extra back and forth.  Once that was squared away,  we settled on a start date for the following week, which they showed up on time for - that's always a plus with construction stuff.  They came first thing in the morning and by the time we got back from work the had removed the old fence,  and had all the post in the ground. By the end of the second day we had a brand new fence and could not be happier with the work the did.  Great job - give them a call.  

Emerald City Fence installed black chain link in our backyard to help contain our dogs and enclose our property.   The entire process was very quick and painless.  The price was very reasonable and the timing was very quick.   The girls in the office are so friendly and helpful and Kim who came out to give us the estimate was very knowledgeable and took time to help plan and design the best fence for our needs.   Great experience and great company!  We would definitely recommend them to anyone in need of fencing!  A+ 

They were professional, quick, and built a beautiful fence. The estimator (Kim) was great, and the project came in exactly at the original estimate. Richard was super nice and did a great job knocking out the fence. I will add that they came in almost $2000.00 under two other estimates, and when I contacted those other companies to ask why their estimates were so high I was given a sob story about how they only do high end jobs and therefore need to charge high rates for projects as small as mine. I encourage you to definitely contact Emerald City Fence before you go with any other company, because even in this hot housing market they still know that smaller projects still really matter to those of us who own homes but are not zillionaires.

We had three different fence companies out and all three gave a fairly competitive bid.  Emerald City was actually a tad higher than the others but we were so impressed with their attention to detail and suggestions for our yard that we decided to go with them and are very happy with the results!   They were quick to get us in and put up our new fence in nothing flat.  They cleaned up nicely and even hauled away some extra wood piles we had on our side yard.  We now have them scheduled to come back and stain our fence, can't wait!  Thank you Emerald City! We love our fence.

I would recommend this company to anyone!  Kim made the entire process so easy.  Communication with the office was great and made everything very simple and painless.  We called a few other fence companies as we started shopping around for a fence and many others were competitive but told us that they couldn't get it built until August.  Emerald City Fence came out to give us a bid, sent us the estimate to our email and we called them to get scheduled.  They came out, tore out our old fence and put up our new beautiful fence within 2 weeks of us calling.   The crew working here was clean and tidy and very pleasant and helpful.   We get many compliments on our new fence and trellis in fact,  they are starting on our neighbors fence next week.  Great Job!!

Team of two came and set 4x4 pressure treated posts in holes filled with concrete. Returned 3 days alter, framed fence; trimmed posts, installed boards, trim, and post caps. cleaned up afterward.

The job took 10 days to complete. For a week we were left with no fence in the backyard (and our neighbors were unable to use their yard for their dog like they normally do.
The workers who performed the work were lazy and surly, resisting doing anything beyond the bare minimum. They ripped the facing board off our existing gate and lied to my wife and said that it was like that when they got there. They bullied her into accepting that they would not fix it. 
They also overloaded their truck in our driveway and drove it into our pergola, damaging the front board. Rather than fix it properly, they cut down the entire board, leaving a bare edge to get water in and a cruddy look. Again, when confronted about the poor quality of work they whined and winged their way out of any improvement.
Finally, they did a shoddy job re-attaching the conduit so it looks awful.
Throughout the process, Kim was unresponsive and accused us of not returning calls when we had left voice mails for her on her phone. Her workers were hostile towards my wife at the house and seemed resentful that they had to do any work at all.
I have no idea how long this fence will last. In the end, for all the trouble they caused they charged us $1000 more than the estimate, and we paid the extra just to get them out of our lives.
I would never recommend this company to anyone else. Steer clear! The people who do the estimates have no involvement in the job once it's being performed, and you'll be left dealing with terrible workers who have no pride in their work and a horrible work ethic.

The estimate process was very easy and no-pressure. the associate was professionally dressed and pleasant.
The work was done quickly, efficiently and quietly...my 9 month old son slept through parts of it!  Two workers worked on two days, but they probably could have finished it in one day if it weren't for needing the cement to set on the posts.
I lent them the use of my hose and they put it back neatly when they were done.
The finished product looks great and feels very sturdy.
I'll recommend this company to anyone who needs a fence.

Emerald City Fence was the third A-rated company from Angieslist that we contacted; the other two couldn't be bothered to give the courtesy of a reply (maybe because we needed only a small job... but it wouldn't have killed them to write a short email saying that).
Emerald City, by contrast, got back to us promptly, were very responsive to my emails (thank you, Kim) and quickly sent me a quote based solely on photographs I took of the existing fence.  They scheduled the job quickly, and Eric showed up on time and on a miserably rainy day.  He was terrific: friendly, professional, efficient - and cheerful despite the weather.  He ripped out the old fence and took it away for disposal (and was kind enough to also take some other wooden trash that had been sitting around in our yard for months).  The new one went in quickly and it looks great.
Overall, we were very pleased with their responsiveness and the quality of their service and product.

We were eager to get a fence in as soon as we moved into our new house so we would be able to allow the dogs outside safely so we decided to call Emerald Fence to get a quote. They got back to us quickly and scheduled a time for an estimate right away. They were late to the first appointment, but called to let us know they were running late.  When Kim showed up to do the estimate, she was very helpful in explain the options we had, options for tying in existing gates and fencing, the cost and, most importantly, the maintenance differences and feasibility of the different type of fences.

We met on a Friday.  She sent out an estimate for the fence options first thing the following Monday.  The cost was a little higher than we had budget for so she called me to discuss additional options and worked to get within our budget.  A few days later she responded with dates they had open to get the fencing done.

The guys that came out to do the fencing were on time and very professional.  The lead on the job, John, even pointed out a few things with our new house that we might want to consider that were helpful and not related to the fencing.

Overall, I am very pleased with the work they did and their style of relating to their clients.  When the job was over, I left feeling as if "I know some fence people" - like I have a knowledgeable team that I could contact for small jobs, big jobs, questions, ideas, etc.
