It was very good.  They explained what I received and they told me what they thought it would be.  They got into it and they explained everything I needed to know about the repair and they did it very quickly.  I have been there probably three times.  I checked them on Angie?s List and decided that they are pretty good and I used them.

They were very thorough and explained things much more than I had in the past.  I will use them again.

I went in for routine maintenance and my breaks were squeaking.  HVAC system was clicking.  They checked the problems and gave me an idea of what needs to be done and a minimum estimate.  I am a return customer.

The last time I used Meyers Auto Tech, I felt they gouged me bad for the price of oil they put in my car (over $6 per quart).  This time they charged me an unusually high amount again for the work that was done.  Mind you, I don't profess to be a mechanic.  But I did try to see what things were not wrong before I went in, in case it was a no-brainer.  When I delivered the car there, I was told that I would be charged $227 for diagnosing (what??) and $20 for labor on changing my oil (I brought in my own oil/filter).  I asked what if it doesn't take but a few minutes to diagnose my engine, were they going to charge me that whole fee??  they down-played my question and didn't give me much of an answer to my question.  A few hours later I was told the bad news.  I was told that I needed a new fuel injector (factory) and that it would be $300.....for one!  Their service tech (B) said he would not charge me for installing it (because they already have it torn down and it is just putting it back together with the new part).  I said it sounded pretty high but said ok because I was out of options. He said they had to order it but should have it Monday.  I called the local dealership and they said they would sell me one of theirs (factory) for $158.  I called back meyers and told them and they called the dealership.  After a few minutes Meyers came back and said he didn't get much out of the dealership as far as whether it was new or rebuilt, etc.  He said he didn't know about theirs but Meyers would stand behind thier work.  He also said "our price includes installation of the part!"  Now I'm starting to feel like I'm getting gouged by this company......... again.  First they say they won't charge me to install, then they tell me that the installation is included in the price of the part (well, it should be at twice the price of the local dealership!)  Now tonite when I picked it up I asked the mechanic (another B) did it take long to diagnose my car for the $227 I paid?  He said after he figured the problem out, yes, there was still some time left of the installation charge (but they certainly didn't credit me back any balance).  So, I feel like I have been taken advantage of for the last time by this business that appears to pride themselves on being honest and upfront and then reaches around to get in your pocket.  I will look for a business that truly wants my return business and is willing to earn it as well as my trust.

They are a really good business. They do a lot of sponsors with teams in the area, and the owner gives a lot back to the community. I have used them for several years. The shop has grown over the years, and they do excellent work.

I like the way that they do business. They are very community oriented and have given a lot back to the community. They sponsor several little league and sports groups. Plus, they do good work. They are a good business to be associated with, in my opinion, and that is what will keep me coming back.

Being new to town, I took my car to Myers based on a phone book ad and that they "proudly" display that they are a community involved "Christian" business. The main crankshaft seal in my Prelude had blown out. Myers did not give me a written estimate, but confirmed that the bottom shaft seal, two cam shaft seals would need to be replaced, and that because oil had sprayed all over the timing belt, that a full timing belt replacement should be done. So I authorized the work. Two days after receiving the car back from the shop, there was such a loud knocking sound (later to find it was the valves hitting the top of the cylinder in a zero-tolerance engine) that I had it towed back to Myers. Three days later they confirmed they had "reused" the timing belt tensioner, and that it had failed. They "supposedly" replaced said unit. Two days after taking receipt of the car a second time, it was making a whining sound, like a belt was rubbing on something. I took it back again and a day later they said they had found nothing wrong. Fast forward 9 days, I am driving in Seattle 300 miles from home, and the engine fails again at 11:30 at night on a busy highway. I tow the car to another shop (Greg's Japanese Auto) and they find that not only did the timing fail because of belt slippage (again putting my engine at risk for total destruction) but that it was due to a tensioner "that did NOT look new" (in their best opinion) and which was missing the bushing that it rode on. The tensioner itself was "flipping and flopping" as it was tying to pivot on a bolt much smaller in diameter than the hole in the tensioner. A $30 special order part was shipped in from Portland because these bushings are "always" found with the engine (read everyone knows they are important) and could not be found on any junkyard engine in Seattle. Needless to say, lying twice about what was or wasn't done to my car, combined with a reoccurring level of negligence and unprofessionalism that is staggering, I will not be returning to Myers.
Response from Meyers Auto Tech Inc
"Thank you for your comments about your experience with us. Although I could address your statements point by point, I suspect this isn't the correct format in which to do that. With that said, I do feel it's important to mention here what I feel is the most important and also the most disturbing portion of what you've said... Please know that being a Christian does not make one perfect. On the contrary, being a Christian helps us understand that we are anything but perfect, and that we are just as prone to mistakes as anyone else! Hopefully this is clear as you yourself point out that we made a no-cost effort to repair your vehicle for you, replacing your failed belt tensioner at our expense. Nontheless it's clear that we communicated poorly with you regarding your vehicle's condition and for that I apologize. If you don't mind, I'd like to share your comments with our entire staff during our next meeting so we can discuss how we might better communicate in the future. I sincerely hope you and I have an opportunity to visit personally someday... I don't believe in unsolvable problems! Thank you again. Your input will help make us a better shop, and for that I'm grateful. Scott"
