We painted the house before we moved in. They did a wonderful job. After we moved in, we found that the quality of the painting is great. Just some colors are not exactly what we expected. Probably we will re-paint rooms with different colors in the future. We will use them again.

First had the estimate done which was quick. The project was scheduled within a week of the estimate. Because the kitchen was gutted and was going to have more work done the millwork was postponed until the counters, tops, tile flooring were done. The millwork was the last to be done. The workers were efficient and did the work well. The ceiling had a crack in it and that was repaired very nicely. I provided all the paint.
Description of Work: Painted the walls and ceiling of gutted kitchen. Later came back to do the millwork.

We were very impressed with Seattle Paint & Design. The bid was under the competition, yet none of the service lacked in any way...on the contrary, we were ecstatic with the job from start to finish! The crew meticulously prepared the site, perfectily protecting all flooring, trim, moldings and wainscoting. Our sheet rock needed repair on some corners and in worn places, and the crew did a marvelous job, as the finished product made our living/foyer, stairwell and landing area look like new! The crew also cleaned up each day so that we were not even aware that they had been on site. They did such a great job painting, too. The finish is lovely and rich looking, beautifully done...We love the way this project turned out! We will definitely have Seattle Paint & Design back again and will recommend them to our family and friends!!

I reached out to Seattle Paint and Design along with 3 other vendors on Angie's list, and Seattle Paint and Design was the only contractor to respond with a phone call the very next morning. Jeremy (the owner)came to my house the next day and provided a quote for the work. The price is middle of the road, but the work is top-notch! Once I accepted the proposal, Nicolas and Fernando came to the house as soon as weather allowed and started prep-work; had a weather delay for a day or so, and then took full advantage of a nice break over about a four day period. The team of Nicolas and Fernando were very efficient together and they make a great team! As they worked through the job, Nicolas watched for and took care of thoroughness, and was clearly the Journeyman on the job. Fernando appropriately followed Nicolas's lead and carried out instructions flawlessly! Not only did they use the methodology promised, they went above and beyond. Required: Tape, mask, spray, roll, spray. Their routine was more about spray, roll, spray, and roll again, to insure all grooves and surface irregularities were covered. Masking and taping was complete, and no over-spray occurred. They even masked the two vehicles parked near the house! Upon completion, I did a very close review of the work prior to formally accepting it, and found absolutely no flaws, holiday's, or missed areas. This team is part of a top-notch contracting firm - Seattle Paint and Design - and considering the amount of care, thoroughness, and craftsmanship, are very deserving of my highest praise for local contractors! I'm a professional construction project manager, and based on my experience can say this contractor has my attention - I highly recommend their services for anyone in the public or private sectors. Payment was simple enough as Jeremy was willing to meet with me to receive a cashiers check directly, rather than waiting for it in the mail. If you are looking to paint this year, get on their schedule now as I doubt they'll be free during the summer!
Description of Work: Seattle Paint and Design did the exterior finish on my two story, 2000 square foot residence. The project included remove shutters, down spouts, taping and masking, spray-on first coat, roll-out, and spray on second coat; and same for all trim; as well remove two entry-doors and repaint them.

The guy who came out did off more than he could chew. He was a cabinet person and did not install the cabinets correctly. We had quality issues which we didn’t find as good as what we expected. He was a nice guy but he couldn’t do the cabinets right. It wasn’t up to the expectations. He is okay for small work but not for big.

Mary Ann was prompt, professional, courteous, friendly, helpful and very knowledgable in interior design and color selection. She even went so far as to produce a color sample that was a perfect match for my walls, carpet color and existing tile work. It was a custom color which she was willing to share and tell me where I could get a draw down of the color myself. She provided a very competitive estimate. I ended up selecting a different painter, one not on Angie's List, that came to me by word of mouth from a trusted friend. He did an outstanding job and I was not disappointed. He used the color that Mary Ann suggested. But, had I not gotten his name from a close friend, I would have gone with Seattle Paint & Design, I'm confident they would have been as reliable and done as good a job, at least if Mary Ann is an example of their professionalism and work ethic. I would recommend giving Seattle Paint & Design a call.
Description of Work: Mary Ann provided a Design Consultation and estimate for painting the interior of my 2500 sq ft home. Mary Ann arrived on time, was professional, friendly and extremely helpful in providing design assistance, color selection, and working up a competitive estimate for the job in a timely manner.

I sent out five messages to various contractors on Angie's List. Rod was the first to respond and responded within 15-20 min of me sending out the request. That was the first good impression. Rod was able to meet the next day. He was on time and professional. Rod understood what we were looking for and provided good ideas and advice during the first meeting. Rod and Ethan showed up the first day ready to go and immediately went to work. They didn't waste any time. Rod cares about the quality of work he puts out and is easy to work with. It was clear throughout the project that the goal is to keep the customer happy. We initially hired Rod for carpentry work, but as a general contractor he brought a lot more experience to the table which proved very useful. Rod is knowledgeable, dependable, has a good work ethic and attention to detail. You cannot ask for much more. He also referred quality contractors to us for specific jobs that really helped us out. R&R did an excellent job and will be the first I call for any home projects or help in the future.
Description of Work: Two story, 2600 sq. home. Install new 1x4 baseboards, craftsman style casing around all doors/windows and added windowsills. Demo decorative pillars/beam and drywall. Tile downstairs powder room, install new vanity, counter, fixtures and toilet. Tile laundry room and raise existing cabinets.

R&R has so far exceeded all of my expectations, and Rod is a great person to work with. We had a tight deadline for the floor refinishing, but the flooring was done before we had to move in and looks great, and was done at a reasonable cost. Rod also offered to loan us some of his fans (at no cost) in order to help clear out the smell from the refinishing since we had to move in the next day. Very helpful. As for the plumbing issues, I'm not an expert on these things but we contacted Rod to come over probably 3 times to perform some minor fixes (the kitchen sink as mentioned above, and then some other leaks). These ended up being simple fixes that I could have been done myself with the correct tools, but didn't know how, and in aggregate probably took around an hour of his time. He performed the work at no charge and made sure to demonstrate what he was doing so that I could do the work myself in the future, which I really appreciated. In addition, he left one of the tools he used as an "early Christmas present." It's that kind of service that makes me want to thoroughly recommend him.
Description of Work: As first time homeowners, we contacted R&R to perform refinishing on our hardwood floors (which were pretty damaged) and do some plumbing work (kitchen sink not draining) before moving in.

I just moved into a house and had a list of projects including tile, electrical, leaking windows, grout repair, new closet doors and redoing the laundry room. Rod was fast and responsive and had very good suggestions. The work was scheduled quickly and began about a week after our initial meeting/estimate. Combined Services also has a reliable and reasonably priced network of subcontractors. The electrical and tile parts of my project were done by subs and I was very happy with them. The follow up service went well too. I ordered custom size closet doors from a local door store that were not cut to the right size and Rod came back after everything else was completed to trim them down to the correct size and complete the install. This is a no nonsense, professional, reasonably priced construction company.

After a very bad experience with another contractor(who had really good reviews on Angies list), who totally ripped us, and also left us with unfinished work, and a bitter experience, I am so grateful I found Rod. It was not a lot of work, so was worried if I would find any reliable person to do the odd jobs that we had unfinished by the previous contractor, as most of them had a minimum no.of hours etc. I found R&R services on Angies, and messaged Rod, after looking at the reviews. Within minutes, he messaged me back that he could come by and take a look at all the work we had the very next day. He estimated it wouldn't take a lot of time, and told me he could come back on tuesday for the job. He called me again within a few hours and confirmed he could come on Saturday(the very next day) if we were free. Not a lot of them work on saturdays, so that was a pleasant surprise, and wait, this is just the beginning :-) Rod came across as a very friendly and helpful person, and very honest too. It was his Birthday, and he wasn't working, but he went beyond his duties and fixed the faucet that was unfinished by the previous contractor, so that I could use it again. Frankly, neither me nor my husband are handy enough, So he even taught me a thing or two, so I could do minor repairs myself. This is something we don't see a lot, as people would want us to call them again even for minor things. He finished the entire thing in less than 3 hours, something which the previous contractor had estimated a good 4-5 hours for. Unlike the previous contractor, he even brought all the necessary hardware for the job, so I didn't have to run to home depot(something the previous contractor did) several times. Overall, it was a very good experience, and all this was very very reasonably priced. I will definitely hire Rod again, and would recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable and friendly contractor.

I called Rod when I was just looking for a handyman to complete some miscellaneous missing details in our bathroom remodel projects. Rod came and looked at the project the very next day, and began working. When we came upon a problem with not ordering enough tile to complete the job, I had to order more...which was going to delay our project by at least a week. Rod asked me where the tile was being shipped from, and I found out it was coming from California. Coincidentally, Rod had to drive to California that weekend, and he offered to go out of his way and pick up our tile! He picked it up and delivered it to us in 2 days, and we never missed a day of work. Thanks to Rod, our project continued to move along smoothly! Once our granite and tile was installed, Rod recommended a drywall installer and painter, along with an electrician. Both subcontractors came and gave us very competitive bids, and we used their services. On top of Rod's tremendous service, when the job was complete, Rod hired a carpet cleaner at his own expense. I didn't ask him to do it, he just arranged it on his own. We have another bathroom to remodel soon, and we plan to use Rod again. He did a great job!
Description of Work: Rod performed the demo on 2 of our bathrooms, installed the plumbing, millwork, coordinated with the granite and tile installers, electrician, drywall, and painting subcontractors, and then he completed the final details of installing towel bars, hanging mirrors, etc.

Mr. Fike and his crew provided a very competitive bid and performed the work while my family was out of town. According to my neighbors they were here early and worked late to meet their promise of completing the work before we came home. True to their word, they did finish before we returned, with only small items like doors and touch-ups remaining to be done. Mr. Fike was responsive to the few small fixes we requested and the job was done to our great satisfaction. Several of our neighbors and friends commented how impressed they were with the workers' efforts and the result, and more than one asked for contact information so they could get their own bids. All in all I was very pleased to have worked with this company and would recommend them to anyone.

It took some time to start the job, after the owner, Rod, took some advances. He later explained that he had to fire his framer for some unacceptable behavior on another job and hence the delay. Once we got started, it moved on smoothly. Because he wanted economy of scope, we started both projects about the same time. Again, he got other jobs and he had to go to a weekend only mode for my job . He explained that and I did not mind, because we had some time before we moved. The job is substantially done, except for delays in selection caused by us. We were so pleased, we had our whole house painted by his crew. This was a rush job because we were close to our moving date. Rod came in and laid down plastic sheets and the crew was super efficient - - a large crew at that - - and everything done in two days. The owner, has a good disposition and a humorous way; he comes clean when something goes wrong and makes it up. I liked the straight talk, no lying at all. We keep using him as a handyman for a number of things. We had a kitchen leak, and he came right away. I am using his services for some garage shelving that is still going on. Will have another review when this is done. Our repeat business to this guy should say it all. He does get in when we are not around and no cause for complain on that count.
Description of Work: WE had to get two things done. One was to do a partial excavation of the crawl space to add a storage area, and second, to add on to the laundry room by claiming some space from the garage. The second job required adding closets, doors, change flooring, move the utility sink to redo plumbing, put electrical fittings and connection in the new area as well as in the garage. Since our old garage access became a closet, it needed moving the wiring and the garage door switches and rewiring them. The first job needed moving/creating a new plumbing line, moving the heating vent (another contractor that he brought in), laying wooden sub-floor and the wall for which we used wooden planks, creating electricals in the storage area, and figure out ventilation etc.

Jeremy and Mary Ann, came out to give us an estimate. They are very nice and helpful. After getting a couple other estimates we went with Seattle Paint and Design. They were a bit higher than one of the other estimates, but we really liked them. Jeremy's crew came out and did a wonderful job of scraping two large areas and priming the areas on our new addition. I really appreciate that they came out and put up samples of some of the colors we were interested in, it really helped make the decision. The rain made it difficult a day or two, but the crew was really great. My husband and I really were very, very pleased and would use them in the future.

What was unusual about this job is that we are across the country and couldn't meet Jeremy and Mary Ann in person or check the work in progress. We picked them based on good Angie's reviews and on their quick responsiveness to our inquiry and a reasonable bid. It happened that they had a small window of opportunity and could do our job right away. They understood that even though we rent out this house, we care about how it looks and wanted to upgrade it after many years of rental wear and tear. I worked with Mary Ann on the color selection; she spent a lot of time with me online and on the phone and made great recommendations not just about paint but about the overall project. She has a strong design sense and came back to me with color selections that worked out wonderfully. She steered me away from some choices that wouldn't have been optimal. When one of the colors didn't work on the wall in the way she wanted, she contacted me to let me know she had adjusted the color to a lighter shade, and I see that she was absolutely right about that. I was also pleased that she guided me to select the right carpet color; left on my own I would have picked a color that would not have worked as well with our wall colors, trim and brick features. At first I thought it was too gold/bright. But on the floor it is perfect. She even went to the home store to look at the carpet colors. She also sent me lots of pictures of the work in progress and work as completed so I could see how it looked. All of this attention to detail and to understanding our tastes was above and beyond expectations. The quality of the painting is excellent throughout the house. There was a ton of millwork, and the detail is very good. They also painted two cheap doors, which we didn't ask them to do, but I am pleased that they did because it looks so much better. And as I mentioned before they did the basement walls, which was a nice bonus we didn't expect. We had wanted them to refinish a bathroom cabinet and that was not done, but I expect it was a miscommunication or there just wasn't time. In the scope of things, this is a minor matter. With the new carpet upstairs and the floors now refinished downstairs it all ties together beautifully, and the house is warm and inviting and fitting to the character of the 1917 house. I should add that I know that both Mary Ann and Jeremy worked on the weekend and on a holiday on the house to finish up by the date we preferred. They certainly warranted our trust!
Description of Work: They painted the entire interior of our house, including all walls and ceilings, millwork (which is extensive), kitchen and bathroom cabinets. They also removed popcorn from two ceilings, and as a bonus painted the walls and ceiling into the basement.

We had a different contractor begin a job and then, after claiming to have hurt his back, he kept delaying his return (leaving us hoping he would finish before putting the home on the market). He finally told us (on Saturday, 9/14) that he couldn't finish in time (our deadline was Tues 9/17) due to other jobs he had booked. The problem was that this person had kept scheduling to come back over the previous week (and unfortunately we believed him). This left us searching for a replacement on a weekend for a job that had to be done the following Monday or Tuesday. Of the 6 contractors we called on Saturday, only 2 answered the phone. Rob was already involved in a job (not a surprise as most contractors with good reviews have plenty of work) but he wanted to try and help us. We spoke Saturday afternoon on the phone and he actually went over to the house on Saturday evening and then called to help me understand what needed to be done (the 3 posts supporting our front porch roof needed replacing). He wanted to be sure we understood what a home inspector would be looking for so that we could be sure that whomever we found to do the job would do it correctly. Rob probably spent about 45 minutes with me on the phone Saturday plus the time he spent to actually go over to the house. It is obvious that Rob is someone who is not only very professional but someone who cares. I was impressed with the time he spent, especially over a weekend, to help us out. Rob really goes above and beyond for people.
Description of Work: Helped me with understanding our job scope & approximate cost. He tried to fit our job into his schedule on extremely short notice.

03/15/2014 - Update I noticed Seattle Paint and Design responded to my review saying it was unfair. What they do not address is why they cannot return phone calls (8 to be exact) or finish painting siding, my entry way or my front door. My review is 100% Fact and 100% REAL. Residential homeowners beware! Seattle Paint and Design took my money and ran. I researched reviews on Jeremy and his company for several months on Angies List and Google before hiring him. In early August he began his project to paint the exterior of my home and things we well until Jeremy requested additional money and then disappeared, leaving touch-up to be done and several areas that his team overlooked and never painted. I originally signed a contract for Jeremy to paint my home for $3200. Jeremy stated that he could match 'ANY' color and we thought we made it easy for him since our home was only 7yrs old and we wanted the colors to remain the same. After the project started, the colors were not aligning. The shutters were to dark, the siding was to light and the door was the wrong color and our shingles were an entirely different shade altogether. Jeremy kept saying how he was not buying any more paint because the amount he quoted me was to too low and he would lose money. When we raised concerns about our shingles being the wrong shade, he asked for an additional $800 for paint and said it would be the best paint ever and he would get it done right. Like a fool, I met him in the middle and gave him an extra $400. My wife and I picked up two extra gallons of paint for him and his team painted my shingles and they looked great. After the shingles were done, his team disappeared and said they would come back to do any needed touch-up or missed areas. That was three weeks ago. To date, I have left Jeremy 7 text messages, 4 Voice mails and 2 Emails to see when his team was coming over to complete the job and I have not heard a thing. This is what every consumer guide warns you about, the contractor that asks for additional money and when they get it, they vanish. Jeremy is a great guy and my only mistake was trusting him. I feel very used that I paid for a service that is incomplete. If you are looking at Seattle Paint and Design for your painting needs I would look somewhere else or you will be writing a review just like this one. 09/24/2013 -I received a voice mail from Jeremy a day after I posted thus review. He was concerned about the review and explained that he was extremely busy and wanted to make things right. Again, I left to voice mails and did not hear back. I am beyond frustrated. I had a friend do the remaining touch up since my painter did not complete the job.

I would like to say this is an unfair report. I was paid for the work as the customer was pleased with everything. The only problem was the entry door color & shingle color was the customers responsibility to provide me with the proper information( color name & #) they were unable. I do regret a unsatisfied customer!

The reviews were great!! Jeremy was responsive and prompt, courteous, etc. The proposal and contract called for 2 coats of paint on the house and trim and 1 coat on the decks. We liked what we saw and heard and signed a contract to have the house painted. When the project was completed....and after he was paid, I called and asked about the decks. The stain that was applied was VERY thin and almost invisible in a few places. The response I got was that he did what the contract called for-- ONE coat on the decks. At that time I just figured--shame on me for not knowing better. It is now a year later and I am in the midst of RE PAINTING the decks. More than 50% of the deck had become bare wood. And, as I have been painting, I have discovered that there were areas that never saw any paint/stain when it was originally done a year ago. These were areas that were not readily visible without getting behind some bushes and down on your knees. Additionally, his crew ate their lunches in their vehicles on the street---and tossed their chicken bones in the yard. Jeremy was not on site during the job, except for one day late afternoon to check in with his crew and the last day to collect a check. In hindsight, and this is just my opinion that may be jaundiced by my current efforts of RE PAINTING, when quoted only 1 coat of paint/stain on a deck--We should have been advised that this would not be adequate and that we really should have done more. It seemed more important to give a low quote than to do a quality job. And, I should have done a more thorough inspection of the completed work before paying for the services. They took short cuts and did less than contracted for. I would NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY.

I am very sorry to have an unhappy customer and would have liked a chance to redo the decks. A phone call would have been nice. 1 coat application is recommended from the manufacture as it is stain and needs to penetrate the wood surface a 2nd coat applied after the 1st coat is cured is not recommended as it will sit on the surface. I did recommend a solid body stain as it will last much longer, homeowner chose natural stain which never seems to hold up more than 2 yrs. We do not cut corners as we do quality at a fair price.
