It went well. I had all of my questions answered and was given literature to review for a possible hand surgery in the future.

When I first saw Dr. Park, I took my MRI results with me. He said he didn't even need them as he could tell easily from physical examination that I had a complete rupture of the PTT. Then he said, "Sure I can fix it! No, you're not too old!". I felt like crying for joy. He scheduled my surgery for the end of August last year. I did just great! I was in a cast for 6 weeks, non weight bearing, then a boot for two more weeks, non weight bearing, then two more weeks with partial weight bearing, then back to a shoe. I went to physical therapy for 8 sessions. When I went back to see Dr. Park for my last visit, he discharged me. He had reconstructed my foot creating me a new arch, and I have a screw in my heel which I don't even know is there. He did a tendon transfer, using a tendon from somewhere else in my foot that is not as vital. It was a long haul, but I am SO glad I did it. I feel like I have my life back.
Some recommendations I would have for those considering similar surgery. I am a nurse, and I knew how important it is to keep the operative side elevated ABOVE heart level. I sat most of the rehab time in my recliner with my casted foot elevated on a pillow. Dr. Park was impressed that I had no swelling, and I attribute this to the elevation I was careful to maintain when I was sitting. I also recommend a "knee walker" for getting around. It is much safer than crutches, especially for people my age.
Dr. Park is extremely competent and confident, and explains things well. I highly recommend him.

They have several physicians there. They all work together. You will get a different doctor each time you there as it is a teaching hospital. They have the top-of-the-line equipment. Most of the times, even if you do not have referrals you can go there. However, if you are required to have referrals, you do have to have one. They are very good. They have managed my pain well. I will continue to use them in the future.
