I called Jerry at Mannix Heating and Air Conditioning about my a/c not working since there was a leak in the system. Jerry came to my townhouse and we discussed the options: try to find the leak or replace the system. Since my a/c was about 13 years old and the new systems are much more energy efficient, I decided to replace my non-working a/c. I was very impressed with Jerry who explained the different models and I decided to go with Trane (which I previously had). Not only did I receive a discount from the coupon on his company's web page, but I also received another discount for being a member of Angie's List! The day of the installation, two technicians arrived on time around 1:30 pm and did a very professional job. They placed cloth over my carpet so as not to get anything dirty and they were very courteous. They stayed until 6:30 pm to make sure everything was working. I really like this company and I immediately signed a yearly maintenance contract.

The estimator (Patrick) showed up on time and was very courteous. He was the only one of all the estimators that visited our home that 1) covered his shoes to protect our floors; 2) opened the inside cabinet to inspect the coil and ducting; 3) took pictures and measurements prior to providing his estimate. Later, after having all the estimates in hand, I called the office after hours to leave a message and the owner (Jerry Mannix) answered the phone and we talked. The Mannix estimate was a few dollars higher than another one that I was considering, and when I told Jerry that I really liked his company's approach and Patrick's professionalism, Jerry matched the other offer (and with the rebates I qualified for, beat the other estimate). Jerry then got me on the schedule for early the next week, and also talked me through the rebate application processes for both Carrier and the State of Virginia. The team showed up on time, did a professional install of a 15 SEER variable speed unit, and provided training to my wife on the new thermostat. The company also gave us a one year service agreement, so we'll have them out again to ensure our unit is still functioning properly next summer. Overall, I'd recommend this company to anyone looking to replace their home a/c.

Just bought a townhouse and wanted to have my A/C and furnace checked out - Mannix was recommended by my home inspector. What a great experience...these guys were able to come out the day I called and were very quick and helpful. They gave helpful pointers on how to maintain and improve the equipment. Would definitely call them if I had any future HVAC issues.

Excellent company! Our AC went out in the middle of a 3-day holiday weekend. We didn't notice it until we got home in the evening. Of course every HVAC company was busy and most of them didn't even return my call. Mannix answered the phone when I called. They couldn't make it out that evening, which was understandable, everyone was backed up from calls that came in earlier in the day before us. But they did say they would come out the next morning, and they did. The called and showed up 15 minutes later. They spent a couple hours here fixing the problem. The company I was using before would spend 15 minutes at the house, declare the problem solved, and leave. And then I'd be calling then again in a month to fix the problem again. Mannix stayed at my house for over 2 hours, ON A HOLIDAY, fixing and readjusting things and then waiting 15 minutes and re-checking them again. Very knowledeable, professional, and friendly. I would most definately recommend them and plan to continue using them.

I requested estimates from 3 Angieslist contractors who were rated all As. Each provided a different solution to what was best for my HVAC requirements. Jerry explained how the HVAC system works and recommended a 2 stage 2-ton unit for optimal operation. He was the only one who had a listing of products and costs, so I didn?t have to wonder how the costs were ?magically? computed. He was patient and answered my questions when I called him after talking with the other two vendors and explained the differences in approaches. At install, Lupe lead a fantastic team. My furnace is located in an awkward second story space, and they systematically tore out the old one and built the new one in there. They also inclined the unit to prevent a leak should the system have a problem since the failure in the system I replaced caused water damage to my kitchen. Lupe was also very patient in explaining to me step-by-step how my HVAC system worked, what the wires and switches were, and general things to be aware of. Jerry stopped by during the install with all the rebate paperwork. For me, trust is the most important aspect when dealing with contractors ? I have total trust in Jerry and recommend him highly. You can?t go wrong with Mannix!

I called first and the owner of the company explained how my system is designed to the letter without seeing it. He gave me all the information I needed to either fix it myself or have him (or someone else) take a look and attempt a fix. I decided to make an appointment to get him to look at it. The owner himself arrived at my door the next day and fixed the problem I reported (one room not cooling/heating adequately) as well as two related problems that he discovered. He also checked every feed/duct for every room. As a result, my problem bedroom is no longer a problem and I fully expect my air conditioning bills to go down. All for a very reasonable price. He even called a few days later to make sure everything was OK. I couldn't be happier with the work that was done.

We have a Trane xe 1000 that had ran excellent over the past 11 years with no problems. While last night Sunday, 7/3, ~ 11:00 p.m. we noticed the a/c was not working and discovered that the outside a/c unit was not working. We checked Angie list and decided to try Mannix Heating & Cooling. We were expecting a voicemail message; however, to our surprise a Mannix Representative answered the phone. She was courtesy, professional, and was able to get us an appointment for today. We had no problem being charged the holiday/weekend fees - it's expected. Our HVAC Specialist "Dan" called while in route as promised. Dan attitude was upbeat and professionalism. He diagnosed the problem as a "bad capacitor"; replaced it and now we have a/c. During the repair work, Dan and myself, solved the world problems, discussed music, etc. I would highly recommend Mannix and especially "Dan, the HVAC man." Actually, as a result, we are going to purchase a maintenance contract or our HVAC/Heating Central Unit to ensure it remains in great condition.

Called Mannix early on Friday morning and they were able to come the same day. It was during a heat wave and the AC stopped working completely. Mannix staff were friendly, professional, and very helpful from start to finish. They came out that afternoon and were able to quickly see that it was a blown fuse. They fixed it about 25 minutes and tested the system to make sure that it worked. Bob was so polite and did not try to sell us any other products. We just moved and we plan on using them from now on.

The installation went really well. Staff is very professional and they took great care to leave the house clean. Mr. Mannix came at the end of the day to review the work that had been done and he helped rearranging some of the duct work and replacing the hose trunks connecting to air returns, which had been undersized. All of the extra work was done at no charge. Mannix really wanted to make sure that I was fully satisfied. The system works perfectly. I really recommend Mannix. They are a smaller player, but it is an extremely professionally run business.

My AC would not run at all and there was some ice on the inside and outside units. I was worried it would be a very expensive repair (I had neglected to replace the filter for 6 months and I?ve read that can cause damage in extreme cases). We were having a heat wave so I figured it would be difficult to find someone to come out the same day. When I called Mannix early in the morning they didn?t make any promises, they said it would depend on how long their scheduled jobs take. I got a call back around mid day saying a tech is available and can be there in a few minutes. He arrived right on time. He figured out very quickly that it was a bad thermostat. I told him that I could have replaced it myself if I had known. He didn?t give me any sales pressure to do it for me, but he said he couldn?t check out the Freon level until the system was working, so I told him to go ahead and replace it (since I was having icing I figured the Freon level really need to be checked). He charged $110 parts and labor for a nice digital thermostat.. He then checked the Freon, it needed 1 pound which was $40. I thought that wasn?t too bad because I?ve heard stories of price gouging for Freon. He checked the vent temperature (it was 50 degrees on a 90 degree day) and commented that my AC is in great condition so I was pretty happy about that. He did talk me into getting a 1 year maintenance contract (but again there was no sales pressure) which includes 2 inspections a year and costs exactly twice as much as a single service call ($79). He counted this service as one of the 2 annual calls, so basically I ended up paying in advance for a $79 service call in the fall. I?m OK with this because it?s a good idea to have the system checked every fall and since I paid for it in advance I won?t put it off They seem cheaper than most places, but the tech was still professional and courteous and thorough and was glad to answer my many questions. I would definitely recommend Mannix Heating and Cooling.

They did a very thorough job. They did a very good job of the installation. They were very professional. They not only came and did the work but they also had a supervisor come and check to make sure that we were satisfied with the work after it was done. They just did a very nice job. I don’t think there was anything they could do better than what they did. I don’t have anything to compare their prices to. We would use their services again in the future.

Mannix responded the day after we called them ... and came at the appointed time. The outside unit of our 13 year old Carrier central air would not come on We had never had any service on the unit before. Dan Jones came out and made a very logical series of quick tests that led within a half hour to the culprit within the outside unit. Within the unit he had to brush out a mouse nest and a fried mouse, a zillion insects/spiders and accumulated stuff. Another half hour and he had pinpointed the problem: A burned out "contactor" which he replaced with a new spare he had on the truck. He put it all back together and tested the unit until he was satisfied it was stable. He had a really pleasant personality and answered all the technical questions that I had in a helpful and pleasant way. In the evening and weekends, Dan is a musician.BTW, Mannix is a two man company and they are really trying to be honest and fair. They do not push new equipment on you as many of the larger firms do. I was so impressed with the service that I signed on for an annual maintenance contract (one Fall visit to prep the heater, and one Spring visit to prep the AC ... for a cost of $179.95 ... which is included in the $373 price I mentioned above. After receiving poor service and pressured sales tactics for inferior equipment by Trademasters who were used by the previous owner we contacted three other companies for estimates for repairs. Mannix were the most responsive. They came out the next day for the inspection and estimate, provided a good estimate price and installed quality equipment the following week when temperatures reached record highs for Alexandria, VA. Quality service provider and easy to deal with.

Called them, and they made an appointment right away even in the hottest week of the year (actually historically as we broke the record on two days) That was Thursday Dan came , tried to fix it - advised needed new unit. Very nice, left his card, said Jerry would call me and if not call him (Dan) back and he would follow up. Jerry called that evening and said he would be out the next morning. Jerry came out as promised on Friday am and gave me the options Crew came out on Monday at 8 AM and replaced the unit with what I had selected Very professional and very very nice. House is cool again! YAY!

Highly recommend Mannix. They did a great job, very neat and professional. Both Jerry and Patrick provided nice follow up with excellent customer service. System works terrific.

Our central air conditioning compressor went bad. We saw the excellent grade Mannix had on Angie's List, so we decided to give them a call for an estimate, as well as another company so we could compare offers. Mannix offered a better price by $1,000.00 and also offered quality products. We wound up getting a new central air unit, air conditioning coil, furnace, thermostat, and a new circuit breaker for $4,300.00 for our three level townhouse. The owner of the business is quite professional, as are the employees who did the install. After we got the estimate and gave the "go ahead" for the job, they were able to come out to the house within five days. Ramone, the lead installer, and his team arrived on time and did a great job. However, about thirty minutes after they left, the new system blew our circuit breaker, which had been damaged by our old system. We called Jerry Mannix, the company owner, and he brought a new breaker over within an hour and installed it himself. Everything is now working great. We got a 5 year parts warranty, a 1 year labor warranty, a 10 year compressor warranty, and a 20 year heat exchanger warranty. The A/C (a 2 ton Btuh 13 Seer unit) and furnace (uses gas, model XR80) are made by Trane. The new thermostat is a digital Honeywell. I recommend Mannix Heating & Cooling and would use them again.

my AC broke on memorial weekend in the midst of a 92+ heat wave, i called many companies on Tuesday, the earliest opening they had was Friday or Monday. I called Mannix and they put me on a waiting list for the same day and a definite appointment for the next day. They called me back on the same day saying they can come diagnose the problem. The service man was on time and worked fast, my problem was small yet the AC was not functioning and it was critical to fix it in that heat. he was done in 20 mnts, he had the part in his truck which saved time as well...you feel these guys want to secure a good reputation and so far they are doing a great job!

We spoke with 6 or so contractors and had 4 come to our house. Each contractor offered different manufacturers and different combinations of equipment. One potential contractor bad-mouthed his competitors and promised to obtain extravagant state and federal discounts for a new system (beyond what is readily available and visible in numerous government websites). That sort of behavior eliminated him from the running. Mannix was patient and always available to answer our questions. We ended up choosing them for that reason, and because we felt they were honest, they knew their stuff, and they offered top quality products at a competitive price. The company's good ranking on Angie's list also played a part. Once we made our decision, Mannix provided us with prompt and flexible installation scheduling. After the installation, they walked us through the operation and maintenance of the new system, offering suggestions for things we could do to maximize efficiency and prolong the life of our equipment. In addition, they provided us with the paperwork necessary to obtain our tax deductions.

I found Mannix on Angie's List, and they were one of four companies I selected to review our needs, and recommend and price a suitable solution. I contacted Mannix through their website, and received a call back from Jerry Mannix within hours. He clearly read my submission, and called back with very helpful information. He quickly scheduled an estimate, which he himself performed a couple days later. Jerry educated me about the system currently in place, asked important questions to assess my needs. Mannix ended up being the ONLY COMPANY who provided me with an **estimate on the spot** AND **included Model #s of the parts he recommended**. He also advised me of the pricing before and after coupons, manufacturer and government rebates. His transparency and efficiency outweighed everyone else. As we considered options, Jerry was always accessible via email and phone. He answered all our questions quickly and completely. Never once did we feel Jerry was upselling us - he was always responsive to our needs. Mannix' pricing was competitive with all other bidders. Mannix was very reasonable and fair during negotiations. I possibly could have saved 1-2% with a very large HVAC company, but I appreciated the customer service I received from Mannix. The installation was scheduled quickly. Ruben and his crew were incredibly professional and completed a very clean installation on-time. They arrived early, but parked at the end of the street until the scheduled start time (8am). Nice touch. I am completely satisfied.

For the installation, Jerry and his crew worked quickly and cleanly. They came, installed our AC inside and outside, and left without leaving a trace. Had problems with air conditioner upon start of season. Called in for service, and Mannix was very helpful in trying to fit my busy schedule. Repairman promptly called when he was available, and quickly came to my house. He was able to diagnose the problem in short order, and we were able to start cooling our house! Will definitely call again!
