Excellent. Mannix exceeded our expectations.

I woke up two days after Christmas to discover I had no heat in the house. After attempting my own troubleshooting I realized the furnace would not ignite so I needed the services of a professional, and likely a part replacement. I called late in the morning and they said they'd have someone out that afternoon. The serviceman showed up less than 90 minutes later, agreed I had diagnosed the problem correctly, and replaced the part. From diagnosis to part replacement to departure was less than 40 minutes. I was very pleased to receive same day service. My serviceman was pleasant, professional and swift. Mannix honored the coupon for the cost of the service call; the part was an additional cost.

When my furnace broke in December, I requested quotes from 3 contractors to fix or replace. Since the Furnace, AC and Water Heater were all original to my 24-year-old home, I also wanted quotes for a complete replacement. Jerry Mannix was the 1st responder. When he found out my furnace was not working, he extended his work day to come out and try to get it going (and he was successful in getting that done!). He explained how the furnace works and why it was broken. Jerry showed me a rate chart and impressed me with a thoroughly professional presentation of my options. I chose Mannix Heating & Cooling based on a combination of reputation (Angie's List rating), quality products offered, professional presentation and price. The crew showed up on time, got the work done on schedule (8 hours), and kept my house clean. When complete, Jerry and his team-lead showed me how the new systems work. I feel they covered all the frequently asked questions. I needed heat quick, and Mannix Heating and Cooling did a great job on a short turn-around job. I have had a few HVAC repair companies work in my homes over the years, and none of them come close to the superior service provided by Jerry's team. The AC tested great, and the Water Heater and Furnace are working like a charm (my home is toasty warm - even in the areas that used to be a bit drafty). Finally, I have peace-of-mind through a maintenance agreement with this company. Mannix Heating and Cooling have my highest recommendation.

I thought it was a fair value. Everything was great. Dan was the guy who came over and he was very professional. He went above and beyond what he needed to do to make sure the issue was right. He followed up. He was very courteous and he knew his stuff. They definitely called me because they said they would call me back and they did. That's one thing I haven't had great results with a lot of companies I've been to. I actually have a contract with them now.

Sales consultant was experienced, knowledgeable and very helpful. Did not contract with this company, but would recommend including them as a potential candidate for HVAC needs. We would consider them again in the future.

I found that my heater was not working and the programmable thermostat was blank. I called at 7am and spoke with Jerry. He was able to accommodate my same day service request. The technician called when he was 15 minutes away, a bit earlier than expected (fortunately). When he arrived, he was wearing shoe covers, was very courteous, explained what he was doing, identified the problem (the fuze), and then continued to seek a possible underlying problem (none found.) Overall I am very satisfied -- and warm! I will call them again if needed.

Jerry is the best. When he says he'll stop by after the install to personally check that everything was done to his standards, he was not lying. After a hard-sell and run-around from Central Services (our home's system was serviced by them for 10 years, through the previous owner and ourselves), they refused to honor an earlier quote (March) on a entire system replace job (re-quote in November). Gave us the whole "you must say yes by noon today or else the price goes back up $800"... Luckily, we had scheduled Mannix to come out for a quote later that day and not only did he beat the price, but upgraded one of the components, gave us a discount on installing the filter box, and was VERY diligent on helping us navigate the various rebates and credit that Virginia was offering for energy efficient home improvements. So out net cost, if I did everything correctly, should be about $8100-$500 VA -$500 Fed = $7100 which is pretty outrageous for a completely new, energy efficient system with a great warranty and one year of service. *Update: Recommended Mannix to my brother who ALSO got the best deal quoted from these folks after searching around. He also had a great experience installing a new AC/furnace unit with the new touchscreen Carrier Infinity product. [Not Angie's list member so he couldn't leave his own review.] We will 100% give them a call for AC/Furnace quotes in our future home.

When our 19-year-old gas furnace and central a/c finally conked out, I checked Angie's List for top-rated HVAC companies and found Mannix near the top. Jerry Mannix, the owner, came to our home on a Saturday morning, performed a thorough analysis of our system, and spent more than an hour discussing the various options with us. I had done some Internet research and understood the basic options available but Jerry did a great job of walking us through the pros and cons of different systems. He explained why a high efficiency 90% furnace was probably more than we needed and recommended an 80% unit. We were inclined to go with a 13 SEER a/c unit, but Jerry explained how we could get a 16 SEER for about the same price once we factored in a $1000 manufacturer's rebate from Carrier, a matching $1000 rebate by Mannix, and a $1500 energy efficiency rebate from the state of Virginia. (The other company we consulted knew nothing about the Virginia rebate.) He also walked us through the changes that would be needed to move the a/c unit to the other side of our house and to change some ducts in our 70-year-old home to improve the air return. We liked his low-pressure sales pitch and signed on the dotted line. We decided to replace our 13-year-old water heater while we were at it. The Mannix crew came out the following week and worked from 8am to 6pm straight. Jerry stopped by twice to check on the work. When the high-tech thermostat showed some problems with the unit the next day, Jerry himself came out late on a Saturday afternoon and diagnosed a problem with our chimney flue, which he was able to fix on the spot, and some issues with the air return, which required some additional duct work. While he was here he also helped us to figure out an electrical issue in our basement, saving us a call to a repairman which probably would have cost a few hundred dollars. His crew came out a few days later to make the necessary repairs to the ducts, at no extra charge. This was one of the best home repair experiences we have had with any contractor. Jerry has an easy-going manner that inspires trust. He loves to explain the physics behind the systems. His crew was friendly, efficient, and listened to us when we made small suggestions about the routing of the condensate line and some ducts. Jerry called us the day after he fixed the system to make sure all was going well, and again a few days later. We highly recommend Mannix Heating and Cooling.

Outstanding experience! Mannix sales consultant Drew clearly knows HVAC and is passionate about his products. i was immediately impressed that he wore booties into the house as a standard company protocol. I appreciate those little details. Drew walked me through the pros and cons of various options and provided me the time to research their product on my own. Absolutely no pressure at all - a welcomed relief compared to the majority of experiences we've had in this region. Lupe showed up early for the installation and really did a great job. I also appreciated the follow-up by another Mannix representative to ensure all details of the installation had been accomplished. I gave an "A" for price only because the few options out there fell within their range. We will be moving our annual service contract based on this experience. They're professional, courteous and adhere to a set of standards.

Called when my heater did not work - came within days and gave ACCURATE estimate - work done 2 days later....workers were pleasant and professional. Work area was clean after all service done and they were careful about tracking debris into my home. Supervisor came to check that work was complete and to go over any questions that I had. They also found all credits/rebates that I was eligible to receive.

During my Fall check up of the heating system the tech found a gas leak. He couldn't fix it so he called to the office. A senior tech came out the same day and fixed the leak and checked both heating systems out even though the other tech had already checked one. Very nice guys and great service.

Job went perfectly from start to finish. On time professional in demeanor and appearance. Sociable, charismatic and easy to dialogue with. Helped with the decision making process on unit type. Installation was proficient, very neatly done, and done in a reasonable time period with total clean up and excellent assistance on instructions for the new HVAC system. We used Angie's List to find 3 good companies. We chose Mannix because they were very responsive to our phone calls and pleasantly answered all of our questions. They had a price book that reflected fair and reasonable costs. We found them to be a dependable and knowledgeable company. The owner of the company (Jerry) actually came to our house during the installation to inspect the work and to talk to me about they system. I was particularly impressed by the fast and personalized service and installation. They provided enough workers so that the AC, heating, and water heater were all replaced in the same day and none of them were subcontractors! Plus, they didn't leave a mess. We'd definitely recommend them to others! They did an excellent job.

I called Mannix based on reviews on Angie's List, which were consistently favorable. My 18-year-old Lennox heating system had failed (turned on, then immediately turned off). On the appointment date - 9/20/11 - Dan Jones called to say that he'd be a bit early and showed up as promised. He put on shoe covers before entering the house. He was also polite and knowledgeable. Dan quickly diagnosed the problem as a combination of failed vent-door motor and control circuit board. He didn't have the parts to repair the system, but he did order them and returned six days later to install them. After testing both the motor and the control board in my system, it turned out that only the motor had failed. Dan explained to me that I didn't need the control board and that he would return it to the supplier. Then he refitted my original control board, tested the system and showed me that everything was functional. I suspect that many suppliers would have installed the unnecessary new control board and charged me for both the motor and the board . I want to compliment Dan and Mannix for putting the customer first. It's refreshing to find "straight shooters" like this in the service business, and I have no hesitation in recommending Mannix and its technicians to people and companies with HVAC problems.

It was a good experience from the start. We felt they worked hard to get things done quickly. Not having AC in the summer with an infant is never fun!

The a/c unit started having problems with the compressor fan motor not starting to spin/run when the system would try to come on automatically. Being pretty handy mechanically (30+ yrs working with swimming pool systems), a little time on the Internet pointed to the run capacitor for the motor and compressor as being the likely culprit.. The system would run as long as I would spin the fan blade to get it spinning when the system was turned on. I was all ready to go pick up a new capacitor and change it, but further reading also disclosed that the temperature drop (difference between intake air temp and output air temp) for an older system (12 yrs) should be around 18 degrees. A quick check yielded half of that at 9 degrees which again suggested a low freon charge. Lacking gauges and the license to obtain freon, it was time to call in a professional. I first called a company (Beltway Heat & A/C Service LLC) who had done a complete system change out for a neighbor a few months earlier and I had talked to the co. owner at the time as I was looking for a new a/c service co. due to having recently fired F.H. Furr, and anticipating the need for a new system given it's age. The owner made an appt. to come out the next morning, but after several text messages (NOT phone calls) from him telling me he would be there in another 1 1/2 - 2 hrs, I finally had to leave at 5 pm (having lost a 1/2 day's pay) for work and texted him to forget it. He apparently showed up shortly thereafter and texted me to say I had a bad fan motor and it needed to be replaced. Late that evening I turned to Angie's List for help and came across Mannix Heating and Cooling in Reston with an across the board A rating and 53 glowing reviews. Most reviewers made it clear they were more than just a little pleased. The next morning I called and spoke with Jenny who made an appt. for that afternoon. They offered to call from the previous job, which precluded the need to wait at home, and made it easy for my significant other to come home from her job 15 mins. away. When she got there, Dan Jones (who had been complimented in several of the reviews) was there and checking out the issues. He quickly determined that my initial diagnosis/suspicions had been correct - the capacitor was bad and the freon charge was low. He replaced the capacitor, added 3 lbs. of freon, and checked for a leak. None was detected and the low charge was attributed to either age or a very tiny, slow leak - not unusual for an older system. It was suggested to take sort of a wait and see approach as opposed to a more costly pressure test as we were getting towards the end of the cooling season, and we could more conveniently examine the options later - after an inspection of the heating half of the system (30 yr. old orig.). During the entire time Dan was here, he constantly explained and demonstrated things. He also took the time to talk with me over the phone to answers some questions and concerns of mine, especially regarding the fan motor that had been previously diagnosed as needing replacement. He assured me that it was fine for now and there was no need to replace it. The net result? I'm writing this review a little over 2 weeks after Dan was here and the townhouse has been cool and comfortable - even on the top floor (bedrooms) which had been a bit of a struggle at times previously- AND the system is running considerably less hours to accomplish this. And it's STILL doing this after last weeks earthquake and this weekends hurricane! Ok, so maybe that was just luck, but Dan and Mannix are a great team and I enthusiastically recommend them to anyone wanting great service - both to the customer and to the equipment. ps - thanks to all the other Angie's List reviewers that allowed me to find such a great company.

. Jorge the Mannix sales rep showed up promptly the morning after we called and provided several options. One was to replace the A/C and the second was to also replace the furnace and A/C unit with a more efficient system. I had trouble deciding and called the office and was connected to Jerry. Jerry spent a lot of time on the phone going over the details and explaining the different systems. Given we planned on staying in the house, we decided on the Carrier Infinity System, which had a manufacturer's rebate and was recommended by another contractor. We signed and faxed the contract that (late) afternoon and Jorge said he would try for the next morning. (Jorge called later and confimed) At 8am the next morning Julio, Santos and Carlos showed up in the big orange Mannix truck and had the unit installed and working by 2pm. No problems. Jerry personal came by, inspected all the work and showed us how to use the system. I would definitely use Mannix again.

Company was very responsive to questions, very efficient install, quote was good value, no mess left from work performed, provided overview of new equipment.

Mannix and his team were excellent. The quote was very professionally and thoroughly done by the owner, mentioning explicitly many small details that other companies omitted. Mannix's team performed the installation independently, but the owner came back after the installation to check to collect the money and check on the quality of the work. I pointed out a small problem that I had with it, and he was able to fix the problem on the spot, using the tools in his truck. Since then, I've been very satisfied with the unit and the quality of the installation.

Jerry was nice to come out a second time to make sure we agreed on the same terms. As far as price, it wasn’t the best offer; however, it was worth investing in a startup company. The crew worked very diligently and added the things I asked. I liked the fact that Jerry and his crew respected my home by covered their shoes when walking around my house.

RUBEN AND HIS CREW ARRIVED 10 MINUTES EARY FOR THE START OF THE JOB. THEY WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL. THEY WORE COVERS OVER THEIR SHOES SO AS NOT TO DIRTY MY FLOORS, IN ADDITION, THEY LAID A CANVAS DOWN AND WALKED ON IT. RUBEN KEPT ME INFORMED ABOUT THE WORK STATUS, SHOWED ME HOW TO OPERATE THE NEW THERMOSTAT THAT WAS INSTALLED AND CLEANED UP AFTER THE WORK. I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THESE PEOPLE. I RECOMMEND THEM TO EVERY ONE.THE JOB WAS COMPLETE RIGHT ON TIME. THEY HAD ALL THE PARTS, DRESSED PROFESSIONALLY --CAN;T SAY ANYTHING MORE ABOUT THEM. THEY ARE THE BEST.

They did a good job for a decent price; we were expecting it to be more. They were quick and efficient. We think in the same way. They gave me discounts because they weren’t able to make it that day. They came out and made sure we got every discount that they could give us. They got the work done. I would recommend them. They did an excellent job. They gave us a number of options on price. I would use them in the future.

Dan, my service guy was great. Knows his stuff, moves fast and is hilarious. Highly recommend these folks. They are articulate in communications, services are well- priced and staff are motivated to provide high quality customer service.

I called Mannix because of the 47 A reviews on Angies List. Was able to schedule a mutually convenient time and Jerry Mannix was on time. My first and more immediate task was to get additional runs in the basement in anticipation of a buildout that was beginning in the near future. As we walked that job, I also explained to Jerry that both AC units had required a fair amount of freon gas last summer and at the beginning of this summer. The units were 7-8- year old builder installed units and not just a few neighbors were also having problems. I knew that replacement was on the horizon and had been reading and pricing units so as not to be shocked. Jerry patiently explained the range of options and because of some attractive Carrier, Virginia and Washington Gas rebates, settled on a configuration that balanced my considerations. We came to an agreement on Friday and his crews show up early teh following Tuesday morning and get right to it. They were courteous, respectful of my property, knowledgeable, amazingly quiet, efficient and cleaned up after they were finished. Nuts to bolts, a class act. Jerry Mannix and his employees knew what they were doing and more importantly, did it.
