My husband has been going to Dr. Robert Zapf for thirty years, and that tells a lot. He's a very good chiropractor.

Description of Work
My husband has been seeing Dr. Robert Zapf for about thirty years now.

Category chiropractor

He has got a great patient to doctor relationship. He doesn't push medication or surgeries and wants you to use exercise to get you better. He has special medical machinery to manipulate the back. I slipped a disk a couple of weeks ago and so I had to walk with a cane to walk and after 2 weeks of going to him I didn't have to use the cane any longer. His wife is a Nurse assistant and handles all the daily work, appointments, etc. and he also has a college student that assists that is studying physical therapy.

Description of Work
I have a bad back so I see him twice a week for manipulations.

I have used Dr. Zapf for back care for over 15 years. He has successfully treated me for injuries sustained in three rear-end car collisions. After an injury, such as a car accident, Dr. Zapf conducts a series of tests that take approximately one hour to determine what areas of the back have been injured. He also makes use of X-Rays and CT Scans performed at hospitals or other medical provider offices. Based on the results, he begins treating the problem area(s). By manipulating the bones in a person's back (which doesn't hurt), Dr. Zapf puts the bones back in place, releasing pressure off nerves that have been pinched and are causing pain. Often, all pain is gone after each treatment, however, due to weakened muscle structure, the bones slip out of place again and have to be manipulated into place again until the muscles are strengthened enough to keep them in place. Consequently, after an injury, treatment can be 3-5 times a week the first couple weeks. Over time, the number of visits per week decreases until the problem is resolved. Back injuries don't just cause pain; the nerves that are pinched in the back stop functioning properly and do not convey correct messages from the brain to vital organs. Releasing the nerves from between the bones not only stops the pain but keeps vital organs functioning properly. After my first accident, which caused significant injury, I was in treatment for approximately 10 months. The other two accidents took about six months of treatment. But the most significant part of Chiropractic treatment is you can continue working. You are not laid up in bed. You don't take pain killers. You can continue living each day. Often you cannot lift things for awhile, but gradually you get back to life as normal. Dr. Zapf's expenses were covered by auto insurance in all three accidents.

Description of Work
Dr. Zapf is an extremely competent Chiropractor. Trained at Palmer College, which may be the finest Chiropractic College in the country, he is thorough in diagnosing problems and takes great care to give appropriate treatment. He also offers classes in the theory of Chiropractic treatment and how to exercise properly without injuring your back and offers some homeopathic supplements.
