M.C. Fence and Deck

My Mom was moving from MO to VA where she bought a house. I told KC that I needed him to build a fence the day after settlement because my mother was driving to VA with her dogs and they had to have a fence built in time or she couldn't move in. I ran into an issue with the HOA but KC helped me navigate through things with them and the County and I had no problem getting approval to build my fence. The fence is very well constructed and they used high quality materials. The crew left the area very clean and free of nails. This is the fourth time I've used MC Fence and Deck. Simply put-I know that I can count on them! I know that I will get exactly what I want because they really care about their customers and want to make sure they are satisfied.

We got two quotes for our backyard fence and MC Fence's quote was about $400 less than the other quote. Because we'd been referred to MC Fence by a few neighbors and they rated so highly on Angie's List, selecting them for the job was an easy decision. I dealt with Melissa several times over e-mail and she was always very pleasant and prompt in replying. We had to tweak our quote (including the drawing) a few times to appease our HOA. We also made a few changes to gate locations and MC Fence was happy to accommodate us. On the day of the fence installation, the crew showed up promptly and the project manager sat down with us to review the plan one last time and answer any questions. He was polite and professional. The crew got started and they worked fast! At the end of the day, one of the owners, Mike, stopped by to inspect the job for himself and make sure we were pleased with the outcome. What a friendly, personable guy. MC Fence had great customer service at every touch point with us. The fence looks great and we're extremely happy with it and our experience with MC Fence. We highly recommend them!!!

It was a very favorable experience. The fence is really nice. We were very pleased with them. It was treated wood. We had gotten three different estimates. Their price was much better. Overall, we were very satisfied with them. They came in with the lowest price and we had them come out at least twice to remeasure because we had different materials we had to decide on. Overall, they were very, very good. If I had to do a front fence, I would consider them. If they said they would be there at a certain time, they were there. They were courteous. We emailed, we spoke on the phone and they were responsive.

We needed to add an 8 ft gate to move larger lawn equipment to the back of our lot. The vinyl fence was already in place but we had no idea who had done the original work. W e had called some other companies during the summer but got no response as this was not a big job. We waited till fall. We called one company and got no reponse. We got an immediate reponse when we called MC Fence. They came out the next day after I called their office and explained what we needed done. KC arrived promptly ,talked to us and gave us some info on vinyl fences that we did not know. We went over some possibilities on how to do the new gate- he gave us some options that considered price. We decided what we wanted and he sent us an email estimate shortly thereafter. The estimate was very clear as to what was to done, They also replaced the tops on two of the new gate posts and had to search to find ones like the others we had. They called the day before they came to do the actual installation and gave us a time. They were prompt. The crew was professional and the completed work was well done. KC was there the day of installation and after seeing the completed work ( it blended in very well with old fence. ) we decided to replace the main gate in the same way with a new gate. The replacement of second gate two weeks later went just as smoothly. I would recommend MC Fence without hesitation. We are pleased with the two new gates.

From the moment KC showed up to talk about the project and measure for an estimate everything went smoothly. Within a day we had an estimate and a day after that, a contract. We scheduled the job for three days out but there was a delay caused by Miss Utility. MC Fence closely monitored Miss Utility, kept us updated and then worked with us to re-schedule as soon as possible. On the day of the job the crew showed up early (!) and were done by mid-afternoon. The fence is beautiful and sure looks and feels like it was built to last. Also, price wasn't our deciding factor but as it happens, MC Fence came in with the lowest price of the three companies we talked to. We really chose them because of the feeling of confidence they gave us right from the get-go. They followed through on everything they said they would and afterwards called to make sure we were happy. We are.

Wonderful. Called three weeks ago for a quote - appointment three days later. We dug around and found most of the lot markers, talked over what I needed, and I was ready to go. Got a quote via email the next day. Scheduled installation last Monday - which was postponed due to rain and cold (which I understand completely). Rescheduled for yesterday, but didn't get here until around 3 to start. Further digging found all the real lot markers and started digging post holes, when they realized what I told the estimator - we live on a lot of rock. Came back this morning around 10 with the jack hammer and knocked it out. Done with the whole thing (including cleanup and removal of everything including excess dirt and rocks) by 5. Talented crew working in cold weather - clearly these guys have done this a lot and are very good at what they do.

They were great. We had to change our plans several times because of our HOA. They were quite cooperative with all the changes and the time providing us with New quotes.

Overall, we are very happy with the fence. We saw the great work that MC Fence and Deck did on our neighbor's fence and decided to get an estimate. The price was reasonable and comparable with other companies in the area, and we decided to go with MC Fence and Deck. The crew arrived at our house at 0800 and completed their work quickly and efficiently. We are pleased with the work, and the appearance of the fence and highly recommend this company.

These guys are absolutely awesome, professional, and know their trade. I was looking for a fence that was tall enough that my dog wouldn't jump it, beautiful enough to sit next to my home, low enough that we could still enjoy our beautiful wooded view. All other fence companies gave me two out of three of those things and all options were wood. KC (of MC Fence & Deck) gave me great quotes on various wooden fences but when I explained we wanted to still be able to see the woods behind our house he suggested aluminum fencing. Genius! No other provider suggested that to us and we never asked because we thought it would be way too expensive. KC came out, drew out the plan, that same evening we had our quote. I worked with his office the next day to schedule an installation date and provide 1/2 payment and the following Tuesday morning my fence was being installed. The process was seamless. We had a new driveway installed a few weeks before and KC made sure that his flatbed did not come down our driveway and ruin it. He didn't have to do that, but I'm glad he did! He also provided me with wire mesh to deter my puppy from digging in his favorite little spot. The installation crew was also great. The two of them worked methodically and efficiently and cleaned up after they were all done. I would HIGHLY recommend MC Fence & Deck (and have) to my friends and neighbors. They provided great pricing, great ideas on how best to achieve exactly what I was looking for, were professional, efficient, and courteous. I'm a fan! Thank you.

I would highly recommend NOT using this company. This was the worst experience I've ever had with a company. The sales person (KC-the VP) was very persuasive and promised a wonderful product and great customer service experience, but boy was he wrong!! We contracted for a 17x12 Trex deck and for those that don't know the price of decks, this was the third most expensive purchase I've made (behind a house and car), so a very big decision on who to contract with, to say the least. We ended up with a deck that was actually only 12 feet wide on a Six foot section of the deck. The rest of the deck was only 10 feet wide!! We contacted the deck manager, Jeff, on a Friday afternoon about the massive discrepancy in size. He got very defensive on the phone and said that we would talk about it Monday morning. He showed up at my house on Monday morning, with his McDonald?s coffee cup in hand, and slouched over the railing on my front porch and said that even though the deck is only 12 feet wide on a six foot section, that we got the 17x12 deck we contracted for (HUH?????). He was incredibly rude and would NOT admit to any wrongdoing. I asked to speak to the manager and he said it wouldn't do me any good because management would take his side. Later that day I received an email from the company with a revised invoice (of course I refused to pay the balance to Jeff since we clearly did not get what we contracted for). The invoice included a discount (an absolute admission of guilt on the company's behalf). However, I was not satisfied with the discounted amount, as I didn't think it was adequate in rectifying the space we lost, so I contacted a lawyer. My lawyer sent an email and mailed a letter to the attention of the president of the company, Mike Colwell, but we never heard from him. Instead our lawyer heard from KC who basically said that they would not increase our discount because it would cause them to not be profitable. What a disgraceful company. Do NOT use them. In response to the company's reply: The spray paint was not to scale, and by no means, was not an agreement to lessen the size of the deck!! We thought the 17x12 listed on the contract was our agreed upon size (wouldn't you???). I am a busy mother of a now 6 month old and had literally just returned to work from maternity leave when the deck work began. I relied on the contract, not on some spray paint. Our furniture would not fit (this is true) since we had planned on the deck being 17x12. But it did NOT cost us a penny to return it (it hadn't even been delivered yet); therefore, the statement that I wanted a discount to help pay to return the furniture is completely ludicrous, groundless and an outright lie. The statement that I wanted half off the deck is also unsupported. I never asked for that. I wanted a discount because the deck that I ended up with, is not the deck I contracted for. My lawyer's relationship to me is in no way relevant and I'm not sure why it was harped on in the company's reply. After my discontent with the size of the deck was escalated to management, my contract was immediately revised and lessened. What does that tell you? Also, the first line of the reply says that my deck was built as contracted. My deck is not 17x12. It's simply NOT.

MC was the low bidder out of three bids. Despite being a relatively small job, it was given proper attention and priority. When the crew found that they were going to be late to arrive, the office promptly called to let me know. When a thunderstorm passed through while they were working, they retreated to their truck and hung around for at least an hour waiting for the storm to pass. It didn't, so they returned early the next morning to finish the job. The quality of work was excellent, they cleaned up after themselves and were polite and professional.

Working with the folks at MC Fence and Deck was a great experience. From the first call for an estimate, to the on-time arrival of KC to provide the estimate, to the professional installation of the fencing, it was a seamless and easy transaction. They did a great job from beginning to end. I would highly recommend this family-owned and operated business.

It is lovely and sturdy. The owner personally came out. They also replaced the plank from our deck.

From the first time I spoke with this company through the installation of the fence, I was extremely impressed with the outstanding customer service provided by Mike (the owner), KC (the estimator) and Melissa (the point of contact for all calls). I love our new fence. The crew was phenomenal. I would hire this company again in a heartbeat. They were detail oriented, passionate about fencing, and always willing to answer my many questions. I have hired a lot of companies to work on my home and this one was one of the best. Thank you, M and C Fence!

The overall process was pretty smooth and I would work with them again. My biggest concern is that they poured dry concrete mix into the hole and then poured water in. I'm not a mason, but I know this has significant potential to lead to problems in the future. When they tell you they can do the install in one day, make sure that you tell them you want the concrete properly mixed and thier estimate may change.

MC Fence did a great job installing a 722 foot 3 rail split rail fence. Their crew showed up on time, demo'd the existing split rail fence that was falling apart. They also made 3 cedar gates. The fence looks wonderful and the gates look good too. KC said that the wood is treated all the way down so it should last for many years. I highly recommend this company and would use them again.

It did not go well, and we regret our selection of this company. We originally ask for an estimate some time ago, and felt that visit was a good experience, but the project was delayed and when we were ready to move forward, we again contacted them for an updated estimate. We asked via email if they could just use the same information they had from the previous estimate, but they responded they wanted to send someone out again. I had to follow-up, but eventually that was scheduled, and from this point on, there were responsiveness issues. It took multiple calls and emails to get questions answered, and although we asked several times for addresses to see some of their work and were told they would get that to us right away, we never received the requested information. I chalked it up to just being in high demand, but thought we would still get a high quality product/installation since their reviews had been so good. We scheduled the installation for September. From a distance, the fence looks fine, but when you look closer, it's obvious the work isn't about quality and attention to detail, but rather quantity and speed. When the 3 man work crew arrived, the major focus seemed to be how quickly they could be done (I was surprised when they told me they would only be there one day). The cuts were sloppy and uneven, and looked particularly bad in the trim sections of the fence, where some were cut too short. Some of the cedar boards were in bad shape, and per the owner's follow-up probably shouldn't have been used where they were. The installation was so hurried that many of the boards were damaged and split in the process, but they still used them rather than re-cutting anything. My initial contact with the crew supervisor that morning was a discussion about what we wanted as specified in the contract, but he tried to talk me out of what I had asked for, which was a level fence, stepped where needed, and not one that ran with the grade. Once I reiterated I wanted it to be level, not contoured or running with the grade, I left them to work. When I checked on things later, they had done the first section correctly, but the other side and back sections were not level. When I asked why it wasn't level, he indicated his boss had told him to run it with the grade everywhere but on one side. I expressed my displeasure, and he contacted the company, and we were told the owner would follow-up. The owner did come by the next day, but to me, none of our concerns seemed like a big deal to him. He offered to come by on the weekend with the supervisor to redo some of the things that were pointed out to him and use it as a teaching opportunity. I also asked him to take a look around and fix anything else that he felt wasn't up to his company's standards. On Saturday, the owner did not show up as he said he would. Instead, the same supervisor and crew were there to redo some of it, and my husband, who finally had the chance to be home when someone from the company was there, addressed his concerns with the crew, even though he had hoped to do so with the owner that day. When we asked the crew if Mike was coming, they just laughed. The company may have been willing to replace the sections that weren't level, but that was never specifically offered; instead I was told making that change would raise the level of the fence a little higher in the back, and I would not want that. So, I don't have what we specified and paid for, and am not going to at this point. On top of all of this, they incorrectly billed me the first time (underbilled - as they had forgotten to add in the special cedar caps ordered for the project). I pointed this out to the owner when he was at my home the day following the installation. He said they would bill me separately for the caps instead of redoing the entire bill, so I handed him a check paying the first bill in full that day. I then got a second bill overcharging me for the caps. I have contacted them and am still waiting on this issue to be resolved.

Mike and his crew are pros. His crew lined up and hung the gate perfectly and things went smoothly from there. I got what I asked for and there were no surprises. Also the aluminum fence was lined up nicely even though the ground it sat on varied a bit. They took care to have the fence hold a straight vertical and horizontal line regardless of some of the ground's elevation variances. I would have Mike's guys come back for additional work. These guys create quality fences from quality materials as you define them.

I want to say a huge THANK YOU to Shannon, Mike, KC, Jeff, & Melissa of MC Fence And Deck for hooking up my house with an amazing new fence. I wish that I would have taken more pictures of the "before", but the "after" is defi...nitely worth showing off. From start to finish, the entire company was great to work with. KC stayed patient with me, as I had a unique situation trying to get my neighbors (a church) to cover part of the costs since their property was ruining the fence that was there when I first bought the house. Removal of the old wood fence around my entire property, removal of the chain link fence around the front and some other areas of my house, installation of pressure treated 6 X 6 posts and flat boards, installation of a retaining wall on the church's side of the property, to the great curved gates and topped off with the end caps on each of the posts, the fence looks amazing. Almost 300 sq. ft. of fence installed (boards installed on both sides because the church (my neighbors) wanted the beautiful look installed on the outer fence too so that it would make their property look incredible as well. All of that work in just 2 days. My neighbor across the street stopped my the day after it was finished and told me that he was jealous because the design that I had installed is exactly what he had been thinking about doing himself. Shannon is my friend of mine from high school, so I knew that I would be treated like family. Give them a call and you will not be disappointed. MC Fence And Deck has the stellar reviews to back me up. They also do decks, patios, all general contractor related things; licensed and insured. I'm already working with them on a 2nd project: remodeling an in-law suite type of thing.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY..... In the past I have had issues with contractors (not finishing the work, starting work and then leaving it to work on another project, showing up late, not being on site when inspectors came around, etc. etc. etc.) and to be honest I was not looking forward to this small project. I live in a townhouse and when they were built (back in 1991) they started a privacy fence on each house but did not close them in. My project was to finish closing in the privacy fence. One of my friends had used Angies list before and recommended I look into it for my project. I looked up companies on Angies list and chose two to contact (already had a quote from two other sources). One company gave me a date they would be there but I never heard back from them....I am a firm believer that if I am offering to pay a company to come out and do work I am not going to babysit them and call back because they did a no show and or did not bother to call. MC Fence and Deck gave me a date and not only did they show up they showed up early. We walked around to my backyard and started to discuss what I wanted to have done. I asked to be given two quotes, one quote was to finish closing in the fence and the second quote was to finish closing it in but also replace the boards on my side of the fence (they were damaged, etc.). The gentlemen then informed me that he would replace the existing boards on my side at no cost. I must say, at this point he had my complete attention. After running the numbers MC Fence and Deck came in with a lower price (I noticed on the invoice slip he had listed an Angies List discount!) and I decided to go with them for my project. On the day my work was to begin I was worried it might not happen due to the weather. My window for the workers to show up was from 0800-0830, around 0845 to my relief they pulled up and after going over what was to be done they started to work. This project was small and took them between 1-2 hours to complete. They worked fast (had a three man crew), cleaned up afterwards and ensured they got with me if anything came up (which happened about three times due to unforseen issues). The quality of work was impressive. There were no warped boards, everything is nailed, alligned and spaced out evenily and the post put into the ground are sturdy and do not move when I push on them. The company is very accomadating. According to the contract final payment was due on the day the work was completed. My job was done on a Saturday and the workers had left before I could give them the final payment so on Monday I contacted the company and told them what happened. I had a check already filled out but offered to pay by credit card since the work had been completed. The gentlemen told me that if they accepted a cc payment over the phone I would have to pay a service fee and then told me that I could mail the check to them. I highly recommend this company and would use them again myself..

MC Fence was the lowest estimate that we received by about $1000. Seeing the reviews on Angie's list, we were comfortable choosing them for the job. From the start, Chuck was very punctual and provided an estimate on site within minutes of discussing the project and taking measurements. The estimate was so much cheaper than the competition, we wanted to make sure that we were receiving everything we requested. Our questions were answered within 24 hours and the appointment was scheduled right away. Melissa was extremely nice on the phone and helped set everything up. Mike was the project manager and they completed the project within a day. This was after Mike went over everything with us before they started to make sure we were on the same page with details on the aluminum installation, the placement of the gates, and the routing around trees. The fence looks great and we received a follow-up email from Mike making sure everything was OK. I will be using them for future fence and deck maintenance and highly recommend to anyone else.

KC was early to our appointment, which I appreciated! He was quick but thorough, and discussed all aspects of the removal and replacement process, including permitting. Ultimately, we decided not to replace our fence, but I would recommend that you at least get an estimate from MC Fence. OF the 3 we got, theirs was the most cost-effective, and they said they would clear all the brush as well (the others would not).

KC came out to the house and was able to provide me with an estimate in about 30 minutes after I gave him a plot of the property we walked around to look at it. I was pleased that the company could get the fence built in one day and start it the next week. The price was in line with what I was expecting. No sales pressure whatsoever, he just gave me the estimate and told me to call the office if I decide to order it. I called the office a couple days later and mailed them a check for 50% since they charge a 3% fee for credit cards. The Thursday morning before the date of installation, a big flatbed truck with a forklift came and dropped off a bunch of lumber at the curve. Friday morning KC and a bunch of guys showed up with even more lumber in flatbed trucks. They found the property line and removed some old fence posts that were in the way free of charge. The construction of the fence took about 8 hours and the quality is impeccable, including the gates. I am pleased with the entire process and would hire this company again.

KC showed up at the appointed time to measure the yard and provide the estimate. He was very knowledgeable about the different types of fence and different styles. We talked about the uniqueness of our yard and he made a few suggestions which were extremely helpful in selecting the best materials and style for our yard. The quote came in almost half of what other companies quoted for the same materials. I was pleasantly surprised! On the installation day, Daniel and his co-worker showed up exactly on time and started unloading the materials. KC arrived a few minutes later to look over the yard and gave us another option that he felt better suited our yard and which we decided was an even better style. The guys got right to tearing down the old fences and clearing the way for the new fence to go up. They were extremely efficient and had the yard prepped for installation. The guys worked until about noon and then took a one hour break for lunch and then started right back up. They finished about 6 pm and commenced to cleaning up the mess and making sure that they had everything that they came with. These guys were the best! I was extremely pleased and satisfied with the quality of the materials and of the workmanship that MC Fence provided. The next morning, KC showed up to look over the job with me and to ask if we were satisfied and if we had any questions. This follow-up was greatly appreciated and just goes to show the level of service and commitment that they provide. Honestly, if you are looking for a new fence, I highly recommend MC FENCE AND DECK!!! Why go anyplace else?

They were excellent. We got three estimates and they were almost $1,000 lower than the other two. They were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. They answered their phone when we called and were very punctual. They kept us informed and updated throughout the process. When the job was finished, they followed up with us to make sure we were satisfied with their work. The quality of their work was superior and I was very impressed with them. I would definitely recommend them to anyone considering a new fence or a deck.
