Probably the worst experience I've ever had was when I went to say goodbye to my cat at Hunter Animal Hospital. They did advise that they were busy ahead of time, but that they could fit me in and I'd have to come and just wait, which was perfectly fine with me. The front staff has always been courteous and friendly, but there is one doctor there that I would never recommend, nor would I go near again, and that's Dr. Mike. He has to be the most insensitive, uncaring and uncompassionate veterinarian that I've ever met in my entire life. The nurse, who didn't provide her name (and I didn't catch it off her name tag) was also extremely rude when I had a few questions about how the procedure/process worked. To start with, I asked about how euthanasia works since I'd never had to do this before. I asked if they put him to sleep first, and then give him the injection to stop his heart. The nurse said no, but they could sedate him which would help him fall asleep. When I asked her "okay, so that will make him fall asleep?" She looked at me like I just asked her what 2+2 was, and replied with "NO, it won't make him fall asleep. We DON'T put him to sleep first." Followed by a really irritated look on her face. Then, they asked me if I wanted the doctor to come in right away after putting the catheter in my kitty, and I said yes. He told me what the injection would do, and without hesitation, words or regard for my situation, gave the injection, and walked out. He didn't check to see if there was a heartbeat, didn't ask if I was ready before he did it, and then as he was walking out I was YELLING at him to come back (because my cat was having agonal breathing and myoclonus, which since this was my first time experiencing a situation like this, freaked me out and I had NO idea that would happen), and he just kept walking away. He FINALLY turned around, dismissed my concern as if I should have known that would happen, handed my dead cat back to me, and walked out, again without saying a word. I was not prepared for what was going to happen, and no one really cared that this was a sensitive moment for me. I was beyond livid and extremely distraught from how my last moments went with my best friend. I was a regular customer/patient at this location and I will NEVER set foot in there again after this. I will share this as far and wide as I possibly can to ensure no one makes the same mistakes that I did by taking my pet to Hunter Animal Hospital.

They are the most reasonably priced in our area and they've got excellent doctors. They can work you in very easily for an appointment if there is a problem and you never have to wait long because there are so many doctors there.

The Hunter Animal Hospital staff is compassionate, loving, and caring. They spend quality time with their patients, and are happy to help you make decisions for whatever the situation may be. My cat was very sick and there was nothing they could do to save him, so he was euthanized. They let me spend all the time I needed with my cat before he passed. Their compassion is amazing.

When you go in with a new animal and have several questions to ask, they will answer all of them thoroughly. They?ve helped us neuter and declaw two cats. Our younger cat bounced right back, but our older cat didn?t and had to stay overnight for observation.

Also, their office environment is wonderful; it makes me feel comfortable. I would never consider going to another veterinarian?s office. You cannot believe how incredible they are! They greet both me and my pets by name, and my appointments always run on time. They even send email reminders when needed. The overall environment at Hunter Animal Hospital is very calm, relaxed, and professional.

I've been taking my four-legged family members to Hunter Animal Hospital since 2001, when we relocated from Illinois. The staff members (vets, techs, receptionists) are the most compassionate people I've ever had the pleasure to meet. In addition to the routine physicals, our various pets have seen the Hunter vets for cancer, diabetes, amputations, dental work, and euthanasia. They've always treated my animals well and have been very upfront about the treatment options that were available, no matter what the issue.

I would recommend them to others. I was happy with their services. I really cannot say anything bad about them.

I was very satisfied with Hunters. The people there love animals and the Doctor is very kind. The office is clean and neat and they just recently moved into a new building which I really like. The people at the desk are very pleasant and helpful as well.
