My boss, Tom, had a situation pop up and needed immediate attention. Renee & Andy came through, assessed the situation and took care of him right away. Didn't try to over sell a system he didn't need, they just listened to what he wanted and set him up. Home security has never been my favourite topics, at first a bit confusing there's network apps, motion sensors and connected door alarms all of which seem to work flawlessly together. We called two places ADT Authorized Dealer - Safe Haven and New Security INC. Bill Wood from ADT Authorized Dealer approached us in August 2019 after buying new house. Many of us have had that one teacher who makes it all click together they are often energetic and fun seemingly always at the top of their game. Bill's smile, genuine personality and willingness to teach difficult subjects to us made him the clear choice a 2nd time this summer when we installed ADT. We feel great knowing who to call and who to let in our house when we needed them. Communicating via text message and follow ups afterwards were "Better than Expected"! Easy and efficient. I made an appointment only a few days in advance to have Rob come and provide me with a quote. He arrived on time and gave me lots of great tips on how to improve the security of my home as is. He also walked me through the entire process which I greatly appreciated as I'm a first time homeowner. I was able to install the security system using user manual. Thankful to have this taken care of without frustration and quickly. Highly recommend!

The Salesperson came to my home reviewed my current system and we discussed costs and benefits of updating the system. I had an advertisement they mailed describing the system and it costing about $32/month, that's if you have a landline phone which I did not. They don't promote that type of monitoring connection anymore (even though they advertise the lower cost) since it's easy to defeat so they push you into the wireless system, which is $45/month. I wasn't planning on the additional cost but it made sense so I said I would do it if they added an additional sensor in my garage and they agreed. The installer showed up 2 hours late, the system installation went fine but he was in a hurry and spent only a few minutes showing me how to use it. I wasn't worried about learning to use since the Salesperson said they would not monitor it for 3 days. I also asked the installer where my remote control was and he said it wasn't on the order. They had replaced my remote with the additional sensor I asked for. I called the office and talked to the manager and he told me the installer would bring it back out that night which he did not. In the mean time I was using the system and realized I didn't have enough time to get from my garage to deactivate the system because the Police showed (within minutes). This was a surprise since I thought it wasn't supposed to be monitored for 3 days, they messed that up. The monitoring company (ADT) was supposed to call me if an alarm was activated but they didn't because they gave ADT my wrong phone number. I made another phone call about the sensor delay and missing remote. I was calling the main office because my salesperson wasn't returning my phone calls. Eventually I got what I expected and the system works fine. Beware of the $100 Visa, the salesperson admitted if you don't jump through all the hoops they wouldn?t send it. So fill out the form and send it in. I didn't get mine after 90 days so I noticed in small print a number to call if you didn't get it. I called the number and it was automated which tells me they didn't plan on sending it unless you read the small print and called. A check for $100 came a couple days later rather than a Visa card, which was fine with me. I had to laugh at their comment card they sent, it was all about the install, if they truly want to improve they would ask questions regarding the business from the sales call through installation and send it 30 days after completion. Note: You only have one day after installation to cancel or make changes. To summarize, I would expect a security company to be more professional and not play sales games.

After working with Tony and Peter, it was becoming pretty clear that the system wasn?t all that I had been lead to believe it was when I initially signed up. When Safe Haven seemed to be either unwilling or unable to address my concerns, I expressed my frustration to Peter at Safe Haven. Starting in May or June, he stopped returning my calls. I left at least a dozen messages asking for follow up. I never was called back, either by anyone at Safe Haven or by ADT. Shortly thereafter, however, they stopped charging me for monthly service. That was the last I heard from anyone at Safe Haven or ADT until LeAnna Hewitt sent me a letter on 12/13/2010 telling me that I could 1.) pay them $1271.82 by Christmas Eve or 2.) reinstate the service that they cancelled. This started a dialog between LeAnna and I that was the most unprofessional I had ever encountered in a business. She was often sarcastic and snide with me. At one point I said to her ?I just want the security system to work 100% of the time.? LeAnna responded by saying ?I want little fluffy dogs and roses all the time, but come on!" I don?t think my request that a security system work 100% of the time was unreasonable, and I thought LeAnna?s response to my statement was of extremely poor taste. It seems to be, however, par for the course. When I was going over the timeline of events for the past few weeks with LeAnna this morning, she was repeatedly talking over me, and wasn?t listening to what I was saying. I pointed this out, and she told me that she had to go so she could call other customers. After having my credit score threatened by LeAnna on a number of occasions, I eventually relented and agreed to have a technician come back and try to address the issues that Safe Haven had been ignoring sine May. LeAnna insisted that I pay her $85.00 to have the technician come out to do the repairs. We scheduled an appointment for Thursday, January 6th, for the Tony from Prestige Security to come out and install glass-break sensors to replace the malfunctioning motion detectors. Tony left me a voicemail the day prior saying that Safe Haven sent him the wrong parts, and that we would have to reschedule. We rescheduled for Thursday, January 13th. When Tony arrived, he realized that the parts he received from Safe Haven were wired, and he needed wireless parts (or vise versa). We decided we would reschedule. We rescheduled for Thursday, January 20th. Tony never showed up. He called me later to say that he hadn?t received a part at all. I rescheduled directly with Tony for Saturday, January 22nd. Tony showed up on Saturday the 22nd and installed the glass breaks. He was pleasant and professional. In fact, in all of my dealings with Safe Haven, Tony has never been the problem. On January 15th, Safe Haven charged me $89.98 for two months worth of security coverage. It posted to my account on the 18th. The equipment had not been installed, so being charged for service shows yet another example of Safe Haven?s difficulties with keeping their paperwork in order. As I didn?t have service because the working equipment was neither activated or installed at the time, I did not have the payment in my checking account. I received two $35 overdraft fees for other pending transactions for a total of $70 that I had to pay to my bank for Safe Haven?s billing error. Other than to credit me a few dollars for the overcharged service from the 15th through the 22nd, Safe Haven refuses to reimburse me for their error. On a side note, I asked LeAnna on a number of occasions for the name and contact information for her supervisor or someone else at Safe Haven who could assist me. She refused every one of my requests.
Description of Work: I first signed up for a Security System through Safe Haven after purchasing a house in the fall of 2009. I called Safe Haven because I received their flier in the mail. They advertized themselves as the Relocation Department of ADT. If you call 877.842.0818, the auto-receptionist will identify them as such. Had I realized that they were a service reseller, and not a service provider, I would have never signed up with them. Peter was the sales person who originally set up my account. On the first day I called, I spent a long time on the phone going over the specifications of the system with Peter, including discussing everything it can and cannot do. One thing I made clear was that we had a lot of cats, but Peter assured me that the motion detectors would not pick them up. Safe Haven sent out a technician, Tony from Prestige Security, several times to try to fix the sensors. Tony told me outright that motion detectors will pick up cats, and that the sales people are wrong. He ended up disabling the motion detectors all together, because of the repeated false alarms. There were repeated problems with ADT never calling after the alarm went off. There were also problems with ADT being unable to deactivate the wailing alarm remotely. We also had Safe Haven install wireless key fobs and a cellular communication device as we don’t have a landline telephone.
