"[Member Name Removed], Thank you for the A rating. We were happy to be there for you when your door looked like it needed to be replaced. Often customers call us thinking they need a complete new garage door and we are able to save them a lot of money and repair the garage door or opener."
"Thank you [Member Name Removed] for taking the time to let others know of our great service. We strive to provide every customer our Best Service. This moto of "Always Do Your Best" is biblical and we take it very seriously. We aren't perfect but we try really hard to help educate and when possible trouble shoot over the phone. Many companies only answer the phone from 9-5, but we understand that emergencies often happen after hours. That is why we always answer our phones and are happy to be here to help."
"There was a miscommunication between what our tech wrote on the invoice and what your wife remembered the tech explained to her. This is understandable because it is rather complicated. The tech had just used his last battery for remote controls on a previous customer. We change out the batteries often as a courtesy to our customers. He explained to Mrs. [Member Name Removed] that if once the batteries were changed, if the remotes didn't work, he would need to reprogram them. In order to reprogram the remotes to the gate operator, the gate operator would have to be uninstalled because the company that originally installed it did so backwards. Normally gate operators are installed so that the access panel can be reached. Yours is butted up against the wall. The gate operator is installed so close that an automatic drill won't reach and it will take two techs to hand wrench the gate operator loose and then reinstall the same way. This is where the higher labor charge comes in. The tech was simply warning her of a possible problem, if when he returned with the batteries the remotes didn't work. When the second tech came out to program the remotes, he didn't charge you a service fee, he only charged you a 45 program fee. I hope this clears up any confusion."
The technician was complete in his assessment of the repairs, keeping me informed of each added fee before proceeding with the repairs. The repair cost was below what I expected and needless to say I am very pleased with the service and the warranty provided.
"Thank you [Member Name Removed] for taking the time to post this review. It is our policy to go over all the repairs with the customer so that you understand the complete job. Best Door Service isn't the lowest price in the market place but we strive for the Best Value and the Best Service. We know all to well that the least expensive "fix" isn't long lasting. Once again, thank you for the A rating."
I explained all of this to the rep when I called Best Door Service on May 54, 2014. I only wanted them replace the springs with the correct size spring and I would pay the difference in the price of the springs. I did not request the cost of repairing the garage door opener. The springs are color coded for the weight of the door. The first person I spoke with said the yellow (gold) coded springs (they installed) are the correct size for a 95 pound door. I checked the color code on line and yellow coded springs are for an 80 pound door. Blue coded springs are the correct size for an 90 pound door, which is the color of the original springs.
The second rep I spoke with said ?It?s only 10 pounds?, even though I explained all of the indications that the springs are too small and not strong enough. Her only solution was for me to pay the total cost of having the springs replaced, including a $20 service call, plus parts & labor.
On May 6, 2014, I spoke to a supervisor who also was not wiling to agree to a reasonable solution. Only that I pay full cost to replace the garage door springs they installed, even though the problems with the door clearly indicate the springs are too small, and that it poses a safety hazard.
I would not recommend this company.
"We are sorry that you don't have the knowledge of the garage door professional that installed the proper size springs on your garage door. He gauged the door and installed the proper springs. The original company who installed your door installed springs which were too strong. The springs do need to have a small amount of tension added, but that is normal after 4 years of heavy use on a garage door. Once the tension is added the springs will be properly balanced and the door will stay open in the 1/2 way mark. The proper springs have worked for 4 years and will continue to work for many years. As both I and the tech explained the other door has springs that are a bit strong for the garage door. Before the spring broke the spring was weak and the garage door opener was having to lift too much weight. This is why the gear and sprocket wore out. We don't replace springs for free 4 years after the proper springs were installed. Our offer of a discount on replacing the gear and sprocket still stands. We wish you the best."
