It went really well. It held up really well and still looks new. The workers are very good, hard working and didn't just idle by and there were supervisors that came around looked up to make sure everything was good and that we were happy and satisfied.
Response from Hendrick Painting
"Thank you for your review and glad the work still looks new after 4 1/2 years since we painted your home, we love using premium products and doing the job right so it lasts as long as possible."

I found Hendrick Painting with a Google search. Dan Hendrick (owner) arrived at my house to give me an estimate. My initial assessment of Mr. Hendrick was clean cut, all-American, polite, and friendly...he arrived in a van with his logo on the exterior. We discussed details of the job; he took notes. Several days later I received an estimate that included description, labor, and materials by email. The estimate stated "$2000 upon starting, $4000 when half complete, $3000 when 3/4 complete, $3000 upon completion (cash)." (After the job was started, I added $1375 of additional work.)
Mr. Hendrick never presented a contract.
Hendrick Painting was the only estimate that I got.
Two painters showed up for half the job; one painter showed up after that. Mr. Hendrick did not paint.
The Castle Hills Police had to be called to stop a physical altercation between Mr. Hendrick and one of the painters he subcontracted for the job.
The job was never finished.

didn't have a problem with the way the house was painted. The two painters did a good job painting the inside of our house. The lines were straight and the old colors were covered up and their job was great. It did take a longer to paint than was estimated. I felt they didn't work the full day and over the week they were here  that made it take longer than it did. I talked to Dan and he said they were waiting for the paint to dry and for them to start another room or finish the area that needed to be finished would have taken more time each day to clean up the paint off the brushes and rollers and start to finish the area they were waiting to dry from the previous day so they would just leave. That sounded true so it made sense and I was over all happy with what the painter did.  The real problem was when Dan came over to give me an estimate there were several areas that he said would take 2 coats of paint and so he charged me the price of the job. I looked at the price we talked about why it was higher than the other bids I got and why a pale yellow over a white would take 2 coats of paint. He explained why and I agreed with the bid and added that if it didn't take 2 coats of paint in several rooms than he would he would take the amount of money for doing the second coat off the price and refund it to me. I never talked to him that it quote was too high and could he give me a better price. When the job was done he wanted the last part of the money and I reminded him of our conversation and he said he would give me $30.00 back and that wasn't the amount we had agreed upon. He then said to me that I had talked him down on the price and there is no money to come off because of that. I explained to him of the conversation and that I had the original bid and there was no conversation to lower the price or lowering the price before I signed the bid. He did the job but that the conversation was "if he didn't do 2 coats of paint on the areas he would refund the full price of what he charged on the contract for the second coat." He refused to return back the money and said he wouldn't talk about it any more. I said I would not recommended him to anyone. He was not concerned and today I just signed up to Angieslist and found he was on Angieslist feel I need to let people know he was not an honest company to work with. I would not recemond any one use his services. He charges too much and will not keep his word when he says he will do something and only makes excuses of why he is not doing what he said he would do.

Dan Hendrick was a very congenial guy, explained the process he and his team would use to paint, helped estimate how much and what kind of paint would be best for me to buy (and I have a little extra which is great for those little accidents and scuffs), and provided an estimate on the spot. The day of the painting, his crew showed up about fifteen minutes later than I wished, but they worked efficiently and promptly, and we are very pleased with the end result. The detail between the walls and ceiling are perfect, the coat of paint is even throughout each of the areas covered, and Dan and his crew were respectful of my house and belongings the whole time. I have since recommended Hendricks to family members, which have also had them bid on their home projects, and are looking forward to doing business with an honest man with his family business. We have one more home improvement project, and my husband and I know who to call. Hendrick Painting.

Mr. Hendricks told me the price would be $600.00 because he had to rent scaffolding due to the height of the ceiling. He told me how much paint to buy, which was far too much. A good painter would be able to figure the amount closer, therefore I had quite a bit of paint left over. He did not rent any scaffolding and he personally did not perform the work. The person who did perform the work used a regular ladder and missed spots and finished in a half day. I would say that was a rip off. Many of my friends thought I was taken as well.

"FIRST OF ALL I WANT TO SAY THAT I AM TRULY SORRY THAT THE MEMBER FELT SHE WAS TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF, I WORK HARD TO TRY TO MAKE SURE MY CUSTOMERS DON'T FEEL THAT WAY. WHEN I FIRST LOOKED AT THE PROJECT I DID FEEL SCAFFOLDING NEEDED TO BE USED AS THE CEILING WAS APPROX. 20' HIGH AND OVER A STAIRCASE. WHEN MY PAINTER WENT OUT TO PAINT THE WALLS AND CEILING THROUGHOUT THE STAIRCASE AND HALLWAY, HE ENDED UP USING AN EXTENSION LADDER INSTEAD OF THE SCAFFOLDING THAT I OWN. THIS WAS RISKY, BUT I CARRY INSURANCE FOR THE OWNERS PROTECTION. I PAID MY PAINTER A NICE BONUS FOR COMPLETING THE JOB EARLY. SHE DID NOT COMPLAIN ABOUT THE PRICE, TIMELINESS OR QUALITY. I DO NOT FEEL WE SHOULD BE PENALIZED FOR CREATIVITY AND ENGINEERING TO GET THE JOB DONE QUICKER WHILE DOING A QUALITY JOB. SHE INSPECTED THE WORK AND TOLD ME SHE WAS HAPPY WITH THE WORK AND DID PAY FOR THE SERVICE. I UNDERSTAND THAT FROM A CONVERSATION SIX MONTHS LATER (JOB COMPLETED MARCH 06, SHE CALLED SEPT. 06 TO COMPLAIN) WHEN SHE CALLED ME TO TELL ME SHE WAS HAVING ANOTHER PAINTER PAINT HER EXTERIOR AND HE SAID HE COULD HAVE DONE IT FOR CHEAPER AND THIS IS WHEN SHE FELT RIPPED OFF, BUT WHAT DO YOU EXPECT WHEN A COMPETITOR IS LOOKING AT THE WORK. I NEVER TALK BAD ABOUT MY COMPETITORS TO TRY TO GIVE MYSELF AN ADVANTAGE OVER SOMEONE ELSE. I DO QUALITY WORK AT A REASONABLE PRICE AS MY MANY REFERENCES WILL TESTIFY. I HAVE BEEN IN BUSINESS HERE IN SAN ANTONIO SINCE 1999 AND MY GRANDFATHER SINCE THE 1951."
