Kitchen and Bathroom Remodel, Ceramic Tile Service

Joe Mitchell is Unreliable and did a poor job installing our floors in our new bathrooms. Within a month of moving into our new custom home, the floor tile in our bathrooms began to crack. We notified our builder and he notified Joe Mitchell. Joe Mitchell came out to inspect the floor and he said he would fix it. He said we should wait until the house fully settled to make sure more floor tiles didn't crack. He said he might have to put a special layer to prevent the cracking just as he did for a house in Frisco. We waited. We called him back. He put us off for 2 years as the tile continued to crack and then he quit responding. We had to send a registered legal letter demanding that the floor be fixed or we would take legal action. He finally responded but suddenly started blaming the builder, the engineers, the architect, and said it was a foundation problem. We told him he could send an engineer out if he wanted to since we found no problems with our foundation or any of the construction. He told us we would have to pay for an engineer, but we had no foundation problems so we didn't call anyone. Joe Mitchell kept saying the tile was installed "according to industry standards" but our floor was completely substandard. Finally, to prevent the time and cost of a lawsuit, we agreed to pay for materials if he paid for the labor. He agreed. However, when his installer came out, the installer was told by Joe to only fix 18 tiles (there were 6 more tiles in the master) and not to fix the hall bathroom, which had 4 additional broken tiles. Joe also stated he would not guarantee that the floor wouldn't crack again. He ordered backer board for the corrected installation, which we paid for, but his installer didn't use. Needless to say we are completely dissatisfied and highly recommend you look elsewhere for a floor or tile contractor.

Tony at Joe Mitchell Tile & Stone is a lifesaver! I had hired a subcontractor to do a tile countertop and backsplash in my kitchen, and two days into the work I had to fire him because the work was of such a poor quality. I got Tony's name from a friend, gave him a call and he was at my house that afternoon. He agreed that the prior worker was not performing to par, and assured me he would have it done correctly. He also agreed to do it for the exact same price I had agreed to with the previous worker. He had a crew at my house within 48 hours, and the work was done in ONE DAY (remember the other guy was fired after futzing with it for two days). The counter looks absolutely beautiful.

I had looked for a replacement tile guy through Angie's List, but all were booked. I was EXTREMEMELY lucky to find Tony, and I cannot reccomend him highly enough. Interestingly, he told me that in the 15 years he's been doing tile in the Dallas area, he has never had to advertise. I can certainly understand why. I got his permission to add him to Angie's List, so give him a call! He also does floor tile and full bath/kitchen remodeling.
