I appreciate the honest service and that Nick did not try to sell me more service than my dryer needed to get it working.

They were easy to contact and easy to work with. They did a good job at what they did and explained the problem. I was really satisfied with what they did. I would recommend them for their timely service and quality service.

This was my first experience with Angie's List and it couldn't have been a better one. Thanks to Nick for his professional and prompt service!! I'll be calling him in the future and would recommend him to anyone looking for large appliance repair.

The washer is running perfectly. When I placed my call, I explained that it would only agitate no matter which wash cycle I tried to use. The next day I received a call back, and was asked to give him the washer's serial number, and then discuss dates and times. He was very accommodating and I was pleased that he was able to service it on a Saturday, since my job is not that flexible. Based on our conversation alone, he ordered a part for the washer, and that part is what was need. Amazing. He was very knowledgeable and I learned that the drum on the washer was plastic and not porcelain. I also learned a helpful tip from Nick, that plastic drums can build up mold, and I was smelling something but I was not sure what it could be. Nick suggested to use a gallon of vinegar in a wash cycle, at least twice a year, hopefully it will do the tick. Thanks again Nick for your service.

They contacted me after I purchased the deal to schedule the appointment. When I informed them of my brand of appliance, they informed me they do not work on this type and I would need to request a refund.

The dryer was having problems. It would not run or would work intermittently. We called Nick and he came out the same day. However, when he got there the dryer was running fine. He checked it over and couldn't find anything. He did charge for coming out but he said if we had anymore problems he would waive the service call fee for the next time. A few days later the dryer started to act up again and would not work. We called Nick again and he came out. He found the problem, a bad motor would would have to be replaced. The cost would be $300. We decided against repairing it and would spend the money on a new dryer. Nick did not charge a service call fee the second time out. It was a great experience and would use and recommend Nick and S & S Appliance Service again.

Lived up to all the excellent reviews on Angies List. Arrived at scheduled time. Was courteous knowledgeable and professional. Was able to quickly identify the problem. Had the needed parts and was able to promptly complete the repairs for a reasonable price. Thanks to Angies List for an excellent amd accurate reference. Thanks to S&S for a job well done. Will definately use S&S again.

The service technician arrived on time, quickly assessed the situation, and determined the dryer was heating up, but probably not drying clothes due to a blocked vent. He advised me to call a duct or dryer vent cleaning service. When I asked for the charges, he said "No charge". We agreed I'd call him back if there was a need. Completely professional, service beyond expectation. The dryer vent was the problem, and all is well now. If I ever have need of an appliance repair again, I would call S&S based on this excellent level of service - and fairness.

My refrigerator/freezer was making a hum/click sound and items in the freezer were beginning to thaw out. I contacted Nick, the owner of S & S Appliance shortly after I noticed what was going on with my refrigerator. I found Nick's company on Angie's List, and because of his great reviews, I decided to call him. Within an hour of my call, Nick contacted me and told me that he would be able to come within two hours. He actually came within an hour of his call and he called me 10 minutes before his arrival. I was so relieved that he could come so quickly. When he arrived, he immediately got to work. He found the problem and had the refrigerator repaired within 15 minutes!! He was extremely professional, knowledgable, friendly, and informative. He explained exactly what he was doing and explained why the refrigerator needed the new part. I was so happy that he was able to fix the refrigerator in such a short period of time. He even offered me a coupon which reduced the price of his labor. I had originally called Sears, but they couldn't come for two days. I was so glad that I found S & S Appliance on Angies List because Nick was able to come out and perform his services within hours of when my refrigerator stopped working. I will definitely use Nick again whenever I need any type of appliance servicing, (i.e., washer, dryer, ovens,etc.). I do plan to recommend him to other neighbors and friends in the area. Thanks again Nick for a job well done!!

S&S Appliance Service was a true pleasure to deal with. Nick not only returned my call promptly but arrived at my home to assess the problem within three hours of the original call. He was courteous and professional in his approach, and was able to diagnosis the problem and replace the broken latch with a replacement he had stocked in his truck. He was also careful to try running the washer as a test to see if it was running properly or perhaps there was another problem but the washer ran fine with the new latch. Nick's total time in assessing the problem and completing the repair was about twenty minutes. Also I found the final cost (noted above) which included the cost of the replacement latch to be extremely reasonable. I will certainly call S&S Appliance Service for any future needs and would strongly recommend them to anyone who needs their services.

Nick was great to deal with, what a wonderful family owned company to do business with. Nick was timely to return my calls and was very detailed with the service provided. Definitely the appliance repair man you want to call and do business with! Highly recommend and will be sure to call him in the future with any appliance repair needs!

Nick responded a very short time after my initial email request. He set an appointment for the next day and arrived within the time frame he set for our appointment. His clean cut appearance and friendly demeanor immediately made me comfortable to have in my home. He listened when I showed him the problem. My freezer was leaking water into the freezer and down into the refrig and he said he knew what the problem was. The drain hole in most freezers is made small to improve energy efficiency but that makes it more subject to freezing up during the defrost cycle. He went to work immediately and showed me what he was doing and what was wrong and that it wasn't anything I did or could prevent in the future other than not overloading the freezer. He also adjusted the level so the door didn't close so fast. While he was here, I had him look at 2 other appliances and he did minor adjustments and didn't suggest any unnecessary repairs. When he moved the stove to adjust the level, he gave me time to clean the places underneath that are not accessible. and I really appreciated that courtesy. I would have him back or highly recommend him to anyone who needs an appliance repair. He was neat, friendly, efficient and charged a very reasonable price for his work. He also gave me a "first visit" discount. Thank you Nick :-)

Very prompt reply to our enquiry, came out quickly, identified the problem and fixed it at a good price. Very professional, knowledgeable and courteous.

I get extremely frustrated by appliance/ house problems. I am the widow of a great Mr. Fix-It and I have no "go-to" lists of reputable repair companies. I'm very handy myself and can accomplish lots of repairs, but have melt downs when I'm faced with one that I can't handle. Nick, the owner, responded to my email request for an appointment almost immediately. Appointment was scheduled and he called prior to coming over. Problem was that when I went into the laundry room, it was flooded. I called Nick and told him I had to cancel, because I'd have to clean up the mess before he could do any repairs. I'm sure I sounded upset on the phone. He said he was nearby and offered to stop over, no charge, to see if he could figure out where the water as coming from. He came over, inspected the flood and thought it could be the ejector pump. He said he thought the dryer tripped the circuit breaker because it was on the same electrical line as the pump. He said he didn't think the dryer was the problem and suggested I call a plumber. He was like an "old" friend. I believed I could definitely trust him and appreciated the fact that he offered to drop by to see if he could help. Oh my gosh, here's a guy who really cares about the customer and went out of his way to help....just like the "old days". At this point, I'm still cleaning up and haven't tried the dryer to see if it will work....now that I have a new ejector pump installed. I WILL DEFINITELY CALL NICK @ S&S APPLIANCE SERVICE, and WILL DEFINITELY RECOMMEND NICK TO ANYONE WHO NEEDS SERVICE FOR THEIR WASHER, DRYER OR REFRIGERATOR.

Our icemaker was not working, so I checked Angie's List for a repairman. So glad to have found Nick. He answered his phone promptly, agreed to come to my home the next morning, and he arrived right on time. Took a look at my problem, showed me why the icemaker needed to be replaced (2004 fridge so not surprising) and said he would return the next day with a new unit. He came just as promised, and now we have ice! He is professional, friendly, and knows his stuff. He also mentioned the Angie's List coupon available, so I was able to get a discount on the service call. This is a family business with many years of experience. Next time I have an appliance issue, I will be sure to call Nick.

Sadly our washing machine would have cost more to fix than to purchase a new one- the technician did provide a recommendation for a new model based on our desired cost. We appreciate his honesty in not trying to encourage us into $$$ and ultimately futile repairs!

S&S was great to work with and had no previous experieince with them. They were easy to schedule over the phone, were prompt on the day of the appointment, and fixed our issue within 1 - 2 hours. Service person was very nice and easy to work with. Felt like the price was fair for the service and the work that was required.

The service tech is the owner. He was prompt to the appointment time. He was super courteous. He fixed my pump issue with the washing machine. He provided great advice on when to fix and when to call it done and get a new machine. The following week my mother-in-laws machine started acting up and I told her to call him. Again same exact level of service. Very nice to deal with. I hope I don't have to call him too often, but if any other appliance goes out he will be my first and only call.

I called 3 vendors and Nick was the first to call me back in a timely fashion. I explained my situation and that I was leaving the next day on vacation. Nick showed up in les than two hours. He explained to me everything and fxed my issue in less than an hour! He was very professonal and courtious and charged me a very fair price for sme day service. I highly recommend S & S and would use them again in a heartbeat.

We are now in the process of replacing the faulty outlet. We have used Nick in the past and we will continue to use him in the future. Thank you to Angie's list for helping us locate Nick from S & S Appliance in Elk Grove Village Il.
