My dog needed emergency vet care he hadn't peed for about 15 hours and was lethargic . We took him there on a Sunday afternoon and waited about 4 hours or more after we signed him in. Finally I got sick of seeing other people pull up with their pets and they were taken right in. When I called to ask why my dog has not been taken in yet the girl said well we have emergencies, What!! I said my dog has not peed in 15 hours and his bladder is going to burst! That was on the original paperwork I filled out when we got there and that he collapsed but apparently they didn't think that was an emergency. Then they came out got him and misdiagnosed him, kept him over night then said take him to my vet immediately . Well my vet checked him and he was bleeding internally! He had to be put down at this point. I believe he could have been saved if he didn't spend pretty much the whole day Sunday and all of Sunday night with just an IV in him. No one checked him for internal bleeding. I will never take any of my animals there again.

I took my sweet little Cocoa to the Animal Emergency Hospital of The Strand 601-1 Robert M Grissom Pkwy., Myrtle Beach, S.C. She was seen by Dr. M. Harris Lucius which was the veterinarian on duty. She was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure and Pulmonary Edema. The treatment Dr. Lucius gave to Cocoa was NOT the Standard of Care for Congestive Heart Failure and Pulmonary Edema. We lost our sweet girl the next morning. When I spoke to Dr. Lucius and the owner of the emergency hospital Dr. Hooker these are some of the things that truly upset me… 1. When I asked why they Euthanized Cocoa and I was not told they were going to Euthanize her and I was not charged for the euthanizing. They said “Would you like your bill to be higher?” When he Euthanized her, he administered the shot in her heart this method is not common and it seems very harsh to me. 2. When I admitted Cocoa to the animal hospital, I signed a DNR (Do Not Resuscitate) and they gave her CPR. I asked them WHY? Dr. Hooker the owner said we do everything we can to save our patients all I can think about is that they were pounding on my little 13-pound girls chest when I said NO to this. 3. When Dr. Lucius came in to offer his condolences he did not know if the animal he just lost was a male or female. Doctor Hooker also owns Dillon Animal Hospital 1618 Hwy 301S, Dillon, S.C. 29536 which he employs Dr. Lucius there also. Before you take your animal to this hospital please look for other choices. I wish I had taken my sweet little Cocoa to the other hospital.

They could not have been more caring and gave me antibiotics and cough pills for her. They treated both of us with TLC, and later in the week, I had a follow up call from them to check on our new dog.

They have always been A for us. What ever problems our dog has encountered they have taken care of them and right away. Our dogs have been healthy under their care, I can't say anything bad about them.

On the 10 minute drive home she was unresponsive. My hand was on her and I felt no breathing. Carried her to the house and still no response, not breathing, purple tongue. A nurse next door came with a stethoscope and said she was gone. We got her to her regular vet by 8:45 and she was pronounced gone. They were paid
433.00 for giving me my pet back dead. These people don't care, they just want to get paid. I will never use this hospital again and will recommend my friends with pets to also stay away. They are an all night hospital that closes at 8AM. They wanted to get home and the pet was released too early. They were still referring to HER as HIM even after 5 hours. How can you not know the dog wasn't a male.

The person at the front desk was friendly and helpful. They are never in a hurry. My experience with them was not bad. They are expensive.
