"We were summoned to this job on Friday, December 1, 2017 via a lead we received from the Home Advisor network for drain cleaning service. We arrived promptly at 9 am and shown a sewage flooded basement. We were informed that they had hired a biohazard restoration company from their insurance company vendor network to clean the sewage, but the contractor refused to start the restoration until the blocked sewage line was cleared and running freely. We questioned the homeowner trying to ascertain if there was any exterior access to the sewage line such as a curb trap or an outside cleanout through which we could clean the sewer pipe without going down into the sewage covered basement. The homeowner informed us that there were no outside access points, in fact there were no cleanouts whatsoever and they asked us to go into the sewage contaminated basement and snake the line by removing the toilet that was ground zero for the sewage spill. All of the sewage covering approximately 600 square feet of basement front to back and side to side came bubbling up out of that toilet. In most cases we would have refused to enter a biohazard zone until it were cleaned and sanitized, in fact our company offers biohazard removal services and we repeatedly requested that the homeowner hire us to clean the sewage spill. We explained that a sewage flooded basement is very dangerous to their health and that this situation required immediate emergency service. We further informed the homeowner that we could have a six man crew on location within one hour and have the house cleaned and sanitized before the end of the day. Furthermore, we made the homeowner aware of the many reasons why hiring an insurance company affiliated contractor is against their own best interests. The homeowner indicated that they would discuss our proposal for sewage clean up service while we were clearing the drain line. Reluctantly, we agreed to enter the basement and slog the entire length through two inches of standing raw sewage and clear the drain. As you can imagine, the working conditions were atrocious and the smell horrendous. Once complete, we again spoke with the owner who informed us that they had decided to use the insurance company biohazard removal service instead of Property Recovery 911. With this information we made one last ditch effort to win the sewage clean up job; again we explained that the situation would be exacerbated by the passage of time and that insurance company affiliated contractors leave much to be desired, but our offers were refused. Several days after going above and beyond to successfully complete the job that we were hired to do, it was shocking to receive a poor review on Home Advisor. Ironically, in the grossly misinformed and utterly unfair review provided; the customer states: "When our restoration team arrived on Saturday morning.they did not have the equipment they needed with them to remove the biohazard" Imagine that"
