They are very professional  and they did an excellent job. The workers cleaned up very nice afterwords and worked well together. They kept in the loop the whole time.

Proceed with extreme caution!  I had an very puzzling and worrying experience.
The house I purchased a year ago had one of their sun rooms on it.  I contacted them in Feb/March of this year (2014) to see about getting an air conditioner/heat pump installed.  There are loads of contractors to do this work, but I reasoned that the one who installed the original sun room would probably do a better job.  Over the next couple months I made a few attempts (maybe 4 or so) at calling and leaving a message for someone to get back to me.  No one ever did.
Eventually, as the hot weather hit, I got more "aggressive" and sent several e-mails and called every week for four weeks.  Finally, in late June the owner got back to me and gave me a quote which seemed reasonable and I wanted to proceed.  I responded to him with a couple additional questions about whether or not the unit could be remote controlled.  Again, I didn't hear from him for a month.  Recently I went on their website and filled out an "inquiry form" asking them if they could please respond to me.
The owner contacted me by e-mail this morning with the following:

Generally when the owner of a company won't return your call during the sales cycle it's usually a bad omen for after-sales service.  I even found another contractor to give me a quote in desperation, but he needed a part from the manufacturer of the sun room and is similarly waiting in limbo to hear back from someone who won't return his calls or e-mails.
I note that the reviews for this company have been deteriorating over time.  Looks like they may be circling the drain.  It is a pity, as the underlying product (The TEMO Sunroom) isn't bad.
I'm going to try to reach out to the manufacturer and perhaps start over with another dealer.

Overall I rate them very poorly.
They were not honest with us from the beginning. The folders they give you with their information...ie thier work standards...say very clearly thet Solarshield never uses subcontracters. The workcrew that eventually showed up to perform the work told us from the first day they were subcontractors. The owner of the subcontracting business even gave me his card (which I still have) and told me that Solarshield was overcharging us for the job and that the next time we needed any work done, we should call him.
We first contacted Solarshield in early June of 2013. We met with the salesmen and came to an agreement for the work to be done. They told us they would be able to start in 4-5 weeks. At that time we put 1/3 of the full price down in cash. We had dealt with this salesman previously when he owned another local construction company...and he had treated us very well...so we were not hesitant to enter into a contract with him. He had sold his business to Solarshield and he assured us that they did excellent work and that we would be very pleased with any work they did for us.
 When the second week of July came and went with no sign of the work being started we stopped by their office and inquired. The salesman who we met with in our home told us the next day that they had simply forgotten about us and he was very sorry and that the work would be statrted shortly.
They came to start the work around August 1, 2013. They began in the garage and at first they seemed to be pretty good. However...we began to notice problems when they were finishing up the drywall in the garage. The seams were showing through
the mud they had put on to seal them. It didn't appear that they had used any tape to cover the seams up when applied the mud mixture. When we questioned them...they assured us that they had used tape...it was just that the quality of the drywall was not good and it was moving due to the settling of the house. They said they would remud the seams and we wouldn't even be able to see them when they were done.
They remudded them and never bothered to sand them down to get ready to paint. The contract we signed with them was clear to say that the walls were to be completely sanded and ready to paint. (We were going to do the painting ourselves.) As it turned out my wife and I had to apply more mud mixture and sand the seams ourselves before we could paint.

The most frustrating part was that they never cleaned the garage..it was a mess! Dust was everywhere! In our minds...ready to paint means that the walls and floor would be wiped off and ready to have paint applied to them. They didn't see it the same way.
From the garage they went onto our bathrooms. They removed our old counter tops and when they installed the new granite ones they damaged the walls. The damage was not huge...but they never made any effort to fix it. This happened in both bathrooms. They installed the new sinks and proceeded to put the old faucets back on! When we asked where the new faucets were for the sinks. they responded that they had no idea what we were talking about. We said that they were included in the contract...it turns out that neither the men doing the work or the project manager had even read the contract. They didn't know about the new faucets or the new toilet in the master bath.either. They also used the old plumbing to install the new sinks...and when they were done in the Master Bath...one of the sinks had a major leak and the other had the knobs installed backwards. It was unbelievable how sloppy their work was!
The worst part of the job was the terrible workmenship when they installed the new front screen door. They were supposed to replace part of the door frame as it was damaged. But when they installed the door the first time (it took them four times to get it almost right) they left the old rotted wood n place. The last time they took the door off to fix the frame they had to redrill the door because they had changed the way it sat in the frame. Instead of showing us what they had done...they covered up the extra hole with the closing mechinism...my wife noticed the hole when she cleaned the door a few days later. By this time the workers were long gone and Solarshield never came back to fix the problems and despite many phone calls to them...they have not been back. They were supposed to come and give us all the warrenty information...but they never came. 
The biggest mistake we made was in trusting the original saleman we had dealt with in June. We had twice before in our lives worked with him and his company and he was genuinely interested in getting the job done right..We called him and he did come and looked at the shoddy workmanship. He aploigized to us and said he would make sure that everything was made right. As I said earlier, when he owned his own business he had done some major remodeling for us and the workmanship and proffessional ethics of his company were excellent. He even gave us his on personal cell phone number and promised that he would see to it that our issues were taken care. We mad the mistake of giving him the final payment for the job...and you guessed
it...we never heard from him or Solarshield again.
While the work that Solarsheld did for us was not terrible...for the amount of money we paid them...it was not done with the attention to detail and finish that we expected. Based upon y experience with them...I do not recomend them.

I can't say enough about the great service from this company. The professionalism of the entire staff from the sales people to the installers was above and beyond expectations of typical companies. As a first time home buyer doing a major renovation,such as a bathroom, is pretty scary, but I felt comfortable the entire way through this process. I never felt pressure from the sales people nor uncomfortable with the people who came to do the install. The entire project took less than 2 days. They were clean, courteous, and most of all they left the place looking wonderful. I would recommend this company to anyone who is looking for a renovation!

The finished room was exactly what I wanted and exactly on budget.  It was also finished within the time frame that was originally given.  I would definitely use Solarshield again for any other renovation projects.

No insulation in door frames which makes it very cold in winter. Would use them again but keep a better eye on their work progress.

We were supplied the room kit on schedule.  We had Dan Green Sr., Jake and Jamie at our beckon call whenever we had questions or needeed assistance.  That included weekends and evenings.  Jake also thoughfully included green metal roofing to match the existing cabin roof.
We are more than delighted with the finished addition and would certainly use this company again.

Everything was pretty smooth, the salesman was with us every step of the way.  Any questions we had were answered in a timely fashion.  The contractors were friendly, provided quality work and also did a good job cleaning up after themselves.  So far no issues and our house is actually sealed better so we are using less heat and cutting down on our monthly bill. 

We both are very happen with not only the work that Solarshield Remodelers Inc., did for us. We have recommended them to several of our family and friends. We were very impressed by the knowledge that Sales rep had about the home improvement we wanted to have done but also helped us in making a decision on what all to do with the space. They crew that was doing the work were also very generous of the rest of our family. Over all the company did an amazing job and we are planning on having more work done here soon.

I was very please with the whole team,, the sales man also stopped by during the  installation, the roofer also suggested to replace our fan in the bathroom, as it was not removing the steam from the shower properly,

They had to remove two roofs, and cleaned everything up at the end and even had some kind of wand to pick up the nails that might have falling during the process ,

I now have a roof with a  long warrantee,,,,,, and will use Solar Shied for any house improvement need I have

No window yet.  Phone call last week.  Pay for the window.  It is allegedly out of warranty.  To be sent Parcel Post.  Delivery cost? This is it.  I will pay for the dam window, and if it is not installed by Solarshield WITH NO ADDITIONAL COST, I will have my handyman do it.  This company may be OK for sales and installation, but GOD HELP IF YOU NEED SERVICE.

Do not let any one rush your decision.

The initial consultation and purchase process was fine, almost good actually.  The sales person had previously been in the industry as a builder so they were able to make helpful suggestions to us that a pure 'salesman' may not have made.  However he was new to the company and made that awkwardly clear to us and therefore was not able to answer all of the questions we had.  Obviously we did choose to go with them for this so the salesperson was successful in completing their part of the job well enough.  After that is when it went downhill.
When they needed to make appts with us to take measurements and whatnot they would call less than 24 hours before they wanted to come out and would also call at atypical times of day - I received one call from them at around 9 PM on a weekday.  We then had the door and sidelites installed by the contractor they used, the contractor was nice and professional but obviously was not able to answer any questions about anything other than the actual install (not abnormal for a contractor who is hired form the company but still not great).  We had a few defects in the door/sidelites and we contacted Solarshield after the install to have this fixed; it was about 4 weeks later when we heard from them again and it was to ask why we weren't paying.  They didn't even have record of the issues we had called and reported (nor did they return multiple calls we made to them and had to leave messages because no one there at the time could help us)!  Then they deferred us to the manufacturer of the door in regards to the defects; they didn't even take care of it themselves.  At times it felt like a joke to be working with them, they really didn't do anything for us that we couldn't have done ourselves and saved a good bit of cash in the process.  They are basically a middle man and a poor one at that (if nothing else I would expect quality customer service from them and to only have to speak with them, they should be in contact with any other companies and not tell us to be calling the manufacturer). 
Instead of using Solarshield I would recommend going to 84 Lumber to buy the door/sidelites (this is where Solarshield gets it from because at one point they had me call them too); the manufacturer of the door is something like Millican and then finding your preferred local contractor for installation.  You will save money and most likely time and peace of mind.  I was totally sold on Solarshield being a local family company, but I failed to remember that just because they are local and family owned does not mean they are any good.  What a letdown of an experience.  (Note: We recently had windows installed through another company and wow, what a different experience, so I know I am not expecting too much from Solarshield.  They just don't seem to care about quality customer service in the slightest).

This review is a follow-up to the one that mentions the 1.5-inch-square mullion holes left in the sills. We specifically asked for these unsightly pits to be filled in or the sills to be replaced. We received oral promises, twice, that Solarshield would attend to fixing those holes for us.  I was told by the man in charge that Solarshield would complete their work the next time they came to a job near our home in Philipsburg.  A year and a half ... we are still waiting.  In summary, I reduced my rating based on unfulfilled promises.  I'd rate the workmanship as slightly clumsy and careless.  These men were too quick and ham-handed and did not attend to good, or even decent, finishing, leaving gaps and those ugly holes in the sills.  Caveat emptor.  Originally, while anticipating Solarshield's return, I said in my original review that I'd hire them again, despite less than Sterling performance.  Not now.  I would NOT hire them again.  If you just want some windows jammed in, then you can get that done considerably cheaper than at Solarshield's prices.

My 3-story brick home was badly in need of new windows. The current single-pane windows were the originals and very much in need of replacement. Dan Green, owner, stopped by and evaluated the current windows, took measurements, and then provided information that would allow me to make the best decision in terms of insulative efficiency and appearance. Installers were very professional in the removal of old windows and installation of new windows. The work was done in a timely manner and with the greatest care to maintain cleanliness and avoid damage.
I am thrilled with my windows. An immediate reduction in heating costs was noted and the appearance has added so much to the look of the home. An additional set of windows was also replaced and installed with the same positive experience a few years later. If more home improvement needs arise, Solarshield will be my primary choice to complete the work! I highly recommend Solarshield to all residents with home improvement needs who live in the west-central region of Pennsylvania.

This actually occurred several years ago:
My husband and I had wanted a replacement for the front door of our  home.   We had seen the exact color and design of the door presented by this company at a local home and garden show.  Unfortunately the sales persons, which were two men, refused to do busineess unless we were both present.  I had explained  that my husband's working hours as a physician made that almost impossible.  They actually told me that they would not deal with a woman by herself!  What an insult!  So, guess who did not make a sale.......  We went to Lowes and got a better door at a better price. 
I sincerely hope that over the years they have changed their policies. We have  made certain that our friends and families have known about their actions and unrealistic treatment of thier customers. They missed out on a lot of remodeling jobs because of their comments to me.

They did an excellent job detailing the project and we got way more than we expected!!!

Although I believe the product (the windows) to be of high quality, the estimated delivery time was missed by a month. Additionally, at least one of the work crew left tangible evidence of his lunch on the street where the truck had parked. We cleaned that up. The workers missed some caulking outside and this required a return trip to address. Finishing was not well done, especially some holes left where the old mullions used to be. These were not filled in, but merely left as 1.5 by 1.5 by 1.5 holes in the sills. The people I dealt with at Solarshield were all cordial and friendly, despite the problems mentioned before.
