I originally researched some HVAC companies through Angie?s list and was able to narrow my selection down to three companies. I called and arranged for a representative from each company to come and provide an estimate for the air conditioning unit and installation. The first person that came over to give an estimate came inside and asked where my return vent was. After I showed the estimator the vent, he proceeded to ask where my electrical panel was. Finally, I was asked the square footage of the house. After a few notes, the estimator thanked me and mentioned he would send me a quote the following day. I thought nothing of the experience, as this was my first visit. The following day, we received a call from Cory from SHC. Cory mentioned he was done sooner with a prior job and he could meet with us sooner if we wanted to, we elected to meet sooner. The difference between Cory and the first estimator was like night and day. When Cory finally arrived, he was very professional. Cory introduced himself and addressed us in a very polite manner, prior to entering our home, Cory removed his shoes before entering into the carpeted portion of the house. I was surprised when I saw Cory had brought a laptop with him, compared to the first estimator who just had a pocket paper pad and pen. Cory went through an extensive process of data gathering and observing what type of windows we had, the amount of insulation, shade canopy from the trees outside and so forth and so on. All of the data was entered into Cory?s laptop and after the data was compiled, a recommendation of the size and type of air condition was computed. A very different experience from the pen and pad scenario I experienced the day before. While I had to wait a day for my first estimate, Cory was able to provide me a DETAILED estimate on the spot. Least to say, I was impressed! Cory pointed out that we were eligible for a discount due to the fact that we were a repeat customer, something I had overlooked or forgot, while searching for companies. Apparently, I purchased a new furnace from SHC to replace the defective unit when I purchased and moved into my house. A discount was good news for me and my family. The estimate was very fair and I pretty much made my decision to go with SHC based on Cory?s professionalism and estimate. My third estimate went through a similar pen and pad process as the first estimator. My wife didn?t appreciate the fact, that the third estimator didn?t remove his shoes prior to coming into the house. As it so happened, the first and third estimates were WAY over what Cory and SHC quoted. The job went to SHC. The installation was scheduled immediately on the coming Monday after the weekend. I was surprised it could be scheduled so soon. I wasn?t home during the actual installation but according to my mother-in-law the installers were very professional. The installers wore booties over their shoes while they were inside and cleaned up everything that occurred as a result of the installation. I was especially impressed that they removed the shrubs and rose bushes where the external unit was going to be placed, and raked everything and carried the debris away. A very clean installation! I am very satisfied with SHC and would highly recommend them to anyone for their cooling or heating needs! I would definitely buy from SHC again!

After viewing Angie's List, we elected to have Specialty Heating & Cooling give us a bid on replacing our 21 year old furnace. About 5 years ago, they had installed a Trane air conditioner and we were extremely pleased with that experience. Since then, they have changed to representing the Carrier line of products which pleased us, due to Carrier's reputation for quality and service. Chris Hammond met with both my wife and I, and did a complete analysis of our heating and cooling needs. After completing, he went over in detail his recommendations and our different options. He never tried to "over sell", but told us the benefits of each of the systems. He explained both the federal and state tax credit, as well as the Energy Trust and Carrier rebates available on the systems. Due to their professionalisn, reputation, and our prior experience, we elected to have Specialty Heating & Cooling do the job. We are convinced that the installation is actually as important as to which brand you choose. Their complete home analysis assures that you have the best system that meets your home's needs. They called the day before the install to tell us they would arrive between 8 and 8:30 the next morning. They arrived promptly at 8am. Both installers, Duane and Abe, were very professional and did complete the job by early afternoon. Everything was explained in detail. All of the work area was left cleaner than when they arrived. The old furnace and associated parts were hauled away by them. I would highly recommend Specialty Heating & Cooling, along with all of their staff, to anyone looking to replace their current system.

Top notch!! I watched the whole installation. I can see why this company gets its good rating from Angie's List. Cy the installer very professional and answered all my questions. Great company and great crew. The County Inspector performed the inspection even agreed with me.They even gave me a discount knowing I was a member of Angie's List.

I really appreciated the fact they installed the day after Bob came out to provide a quote. The tech worked in very hot conditions and was here still at 6:30pm when I arrived home that evening making sure the system was cooling. The gentleman calling to arrange the final payment was a little pushy considering the work was not quite finished, but otherwise everyone on top of the entire job and easy to work with. Bob came by after the inspection and showed me exactly what I bought and how to use the AC and change the furnace filter and how often, and of course pickup the final payment.

Before contacting SH&C we had considered adding duct work to our existing heating/cooling system to include the attic office, with this option presenting no guarantee of actually cooling/heating the space and possibly affecting the zoning in the rest of the house (let alone the disruption) we knew we needed a stand alone system. I found SH&C through Fujitsu's website as an authorized installer of their systems. Chris Hammond from SH&C came to assess the office space at our home and presented in great detail how the system would work, he spent well over two hours with us which was greatly appreciated. The tech team that came to install the mini-split was excellent; very professional and considerate of our home. The install took one day and that included the work of their sub-contractor electrician. We're very pleased with the results.

It went well from start to finish. We are very happy with the experience, very happy with the result. We called for an estimate one day, the furnace was working three days later. As a bonus, the A/C works much better than before.

I selected three companies from Angie's List, based on ratings, user feedback, and proximity to my home. Although 2 of the bids were fairly close, this one was lower when I factored in the free duct cleaning. They also offered Carrier brand equipment for both the furnace and the air conditioning unit. The 2nd closest bidder (Service Now) was very nice, and only $1 less, but would have charged an additional $420 to vacuum the ducts and would have put in a Payne (by Carrier) air conditioner. I elected to use my existing programmable thermostat, saving an additional $200. Including end of year rebates, I will receive a total of approximately $800 or $900 in rebates, including end of year tax rebates. My pre-rebate price of $7378 included a $200 Angie's List discount. The sales rep., Cory Streeter, was very knowledgeable and courteous and was also prompt about getting back to me to answer a couple of post-installation questions. I truly had the feeling that his goal was a win-win situation for both his company and me, the customer. The installers, Adam Vandehey, Abe Gordin, and Cy, were wonderful. I was teleworking throughout installation and they took special care not to make a lot of noise when I was on the telephone with my customers. Abe was wonderful with my two cats, when it was time to transfer them from one room to another during the duct-cleaning process, and all three men made certain no debris was left behind. I am a very satisfied customer. Thanks, Angie's List, for directing me to this company.

I first contacted SHC last year looking for quotes and has kept them as the preferred supplier because of their reputation on Angies List. When I re-contacted them to do the work, they did not revise the original quote, but did inform me that we needed to have the electrical connection upgraded and gave me an approximate cost. I also requested that they perform a service on the a/c and replace much of the duct insulation in the garage while they were here. SHC scheduled the work very quickly (probably caught the season just right!), and arrived when they said. All of the work was completed in a single day, and they did a very good job at cleaning up after them. My only feedback is one of slight "sticker shock" at the final bill. I did not realize that the a/c service was going to be a completely separate service, done by a different technician, so was charged for a separate callout for this; there was no savings in me arranging to have this all done on the same day as the furnace. Also, I did not get a firm quote for the electician work or the additional duct insulation work I requested (although I did get an estimate for the electrician). These two additions resulted in a final bill for the furnace being $835 (or 20%) higher than original quote. The costs were probably fair given that this include the subcontracting electrician, but I did not get an itemized invoice showing the electician cost and insulation costs. Having said this, I still think SHC offer exceptional service at very competative prices and would not hesitate in referring them to others.

Called and they were out the next day on time. Derrick was professional and explained what the service call would entail and the cost. The AC unit is 19 years old and I was told it was still in good shape. Derrick showed me the filter that needed changing and I opted to do it myself so I could get a higher quality filter. The contacts on the condenser were somewhat worn but should continue to work for a year or two longer. Over all a good experience.

Overall everyone was on time, very friendly, accomodated our family's needs (including those of our toddler), and very patient with our questions. The bidding process provided us with a good overall view of our heating/cooling load, as well as what options we had for balancing various budget constraints against system efficiency. Our sales pro was very patient with our decision-making process and our constantly moving schedule to set installation dates. The contractors arrived on time and worked diligently through the day, scheduling quieter activities for the times we had requested to accomodate our toddler's nap schedule. They frequently reviewed progress with us and happily answered questions as needed. At the end of the first day they made sure everything was cleaned up completely, even though they were returning the next day. There were two issues that arose during the install. The first was really our own fault; we had chosen a unit that was physically too large. Once we figured that out they provided us with options, and were able to quickly obtain a more compact unit to meet our needs, agreeing to remove the original unit even though it had already been unpacked. They did not once mention that this was a problem. The second issue was a system fault that was not discovered until post-installation. The manager showed up shortly after we reported the problem and made the correction. Kudos to them for the great responsiveness. Our system is fully functioning at this point and we are very happy with it.

They spent about 2 hours measuring the house and assessing the sizing of the replacement system. They gave me an "all in" estimate including the extra electrical work for the out door unit. They explained all the new piping and location options. The system has worked fine from the beginning. Outdoor unit is quieter than I expected. Only negative is they needed to return to deliver the operating manuals and the paperwork - but no problem.

It went well. Bill found that the furnace and air conditioner were both installed incorrectly, most likely by the original owner as a home job. We will likely have the estimator come out in a month or so.

The sales rep (Bob Mathis) showed on schedule and performed the most thorough prre-bid inspection of any the the contractors that were asked to bid. The gentleman was exacting and professional. He did not try any high pressure tactics. If the quote had been a little closer to the winning bid, we would have selected Specialty.

Chris from SHC came out and spent several hours performing a heat load calculation and presenting different solutions. He was very knowledgeable of the products and proper installation. We did lots of research and got bids from three different companies. Once we decided on SHC, they had everything installed within the next couple of days. Chris followed up afterwards to make sure we were happy – something that is rare these days. I do not hesitate to recommend SHC.

They did a very good job. They had a fair price compared to the other companies we looked at. They came to help us out very quickly. I was very pleased with their service, and I will continue to use them in the future.

The technician explained what over due maintenance issues there were, the part which needed replaced and the expense. He also offered their maintenance program so future issues would not be a problem.

I was not present, but another family member was, the tech was punctual and courteous. A short while later he cleaned the re-usable filter and set it out to dry and gave us the paperwork. As far as I can tell nothing was done other than turning on the system to make sure it blew hot air. He didn't tell us where the filter went (had to call another company for help) and didn't seem to clean or change anything on the system. The system was so old maybe he was afraid to? The paperwork says "checked system, blowing hot air," and advises not to make any repairs if it fails because of its age. That is all fine and good, but I could have told you it was blowing hot air for a lot less money.

The experience with Specialty Heating & Cooling went fairly well. They were prompt with returning phone calls, up through the final sale. I got a quality furnace, that is working well. I think they should have been more up front with presenting their ad. I feel it was a little misleading, with the offer of rebates. Post inspection with the city, found that the furnace is leaking water on the floor. I haven't had that fixed yet. I would use them again in the future.

The furnace would not come on. I called SHC and told them I would like someone to come out, but that I did not need immediate help. An appointment was scheduled for a week later. Sheldon came out and looked at the furnace and the electronic thermostat history and decided there was a loose connection in the wiring and that there had been dozens of faults. He tightened connections inside the furnace and then, as he was replacing the cover, noted the PVC connection of the exhaust of this high efficiency furnace was nearly undone. He cemented it back in place. Then he ran several heat and cool cycles to confirm the problem was repaired. That was four months ago and the furnace functioned perfectly this winter. The cost was $100 for the diagnostic and $62 for the two repairs.

Outstanding service. On time, professional, respectful and very knowledgeable. Great company: easy to schedule, great location and great value. Showed up on time, knocked quietly on front door (respected 0700 a.m. time and thought kids might be sleeping - he was right), donned booties to enter house and check thermostat, great job assessing and servicing furnace and gave tips for peak operating efficiency. Even drew pictures to explain some of the more complicated procedures/processes of the furnace. A couple weeks later and the heater is working like a champ. Great job and great value of my money and peace of mind.

It went very well. Once the gas company put the line in SHC went to work and completed it in 2 days. Two guys did most of the work with others coming and going. Very polite, cleaned up well. One problem arose later however - the furnace stopped working. They came within an hour or so and fixed it. Apparently it was an easy fix - an electrical short. No other problems since than. I'm very happy with it. Am writing this about 2 months later.

Scheduling an appointment to discuss getting a furnace was easy, the salesperson seemed very knowledgeable. After that appointment, they called a few too many times for "follow up" to see if I had questions, which seemed a little high pressure. Scheduling the work to be done was easy. The installation went well, although one person arrived late, delaying the electrical part. Everything was done in a day. But the person finishing up said that there was a part that he did not have and I should just call-anyone else could put it in. Final payment was due at completion of the work, and there was some confusion about the bill because of a discount I had been advised about. In terms of payment, it did work out but required additional calls by me to clarify the final price. That installer meanwhile left the company, and I had to make calls multiple times over several weeks to get an answer about the missing part. Either no one was in or the explanation of what was needed was inadequate. I felt as if I was being ignored, and water was starting to leak out of the system-which is why I decided to pursue the problem. However, once I conveyed the information to what I assume was the correct person-someone came out that same day to make the fix. I have had three service calls since the system was installed July 14th. I think it is ok, everyone who has been out has been pleasant, however I have received 3 different answers about changing filters and maintenance. A little disheartening. They did have a ton of paperwork, and knew about rebates with the furnace company, and rebates through Oregon Energy programs, and did all the paperwork I needed, which was very nice.

It went perfectly. Bob Mathias came out the day of an arctic snowstorm to measure the fireplace and set up the installation. Within one week, in the worst of weather, the insert was installed except for the surround which came a week later. The procedure was completely painless, no mess, no fuss and the insert works beautifully. The installers were courteous, friendly and explained everything to me about the insert. I strongly recommend this company.

They were very responsive to me and have always been. When I call, they are on it. I will continue to use them in the future.
