Oregon Restoration Co.

This is a follow-up to a review that I posted in Nov. 2014. At that time I rated them an F since I had received no response to my calls. I was contacted the following day and subsequently hired them to address the fungus problem. Getting the problem resolved required the services of several companies including a general contractor who handled the tear down and rebuild. Oregon Restoration's role was the containment of the contaminated area, removal of the fungus, treatment and drying out of the affected areas. The project was just completed so took some time overall to be resolved. Once they made contact Oregon Restoration was very professional, handling their tasks with efficiency and thoroughness. They kept us well informed of the process and assisted in interfacing with other companies involved. I have asked their assistance in following up over the next couple of years to confirm there's no further water leakage.

Talked to Oregon Restoration about coming to check out some water damage in my rental property. They said they would be there the next morning and they never showed up. We never received a call about why they didn't show or any kind of follow up whatsoever. Felt like this was a total lack of professionalism.

It went great. I called the company on a Saturday morning and received a call right back from Ryan. He was very helpful and offered to come out within an hour to make an assessment of the water damage. He was very professional and friendly. He offered his services to fix the ceiling and carpet, but due to the minimal damage he recommended what things we could do ourselves since we are in the process of remodeling the basement anyway. He recommended finding a plumber to fix the broken pipe since that is not something he does. I appreciated his honest assessment and will use this company in the future if the need arises.

Oregon Restoration devised a plan to remediate the light mold in our attic. Do your homework. Mold is caused by something and you need to fix the cause not just remediate the problem. Ryan referred me to Balanced Energy Solutions who corrected the inadequate air flow and improper venting which created the mold growing environment. i.e. poor soffit ventilation, inadequate roof ventilation, and improperly vented bathroom fans. Once this was done Ryan returned and created a negative air flow environment in he attic with a HEPA exhaust to the outside while working. This scrubbed the air of the chemicals and any mold that was released. His work was quick, neat, and efficient. I inspected the attic later in the day and it looked great. He guarantees a passing mold inspection post work and gives 3 subsequent annual inspections. They do not do mold inspection but remediation. I would advise not to use one company for both as there is a conflict of interest as they would be creating their own work. Just get a bid from someone that does this and you will see. I experienced this while getting my bids and it is worth getting several bids from mold inspectors, and mold removal companies but definitely not someone who does both. An inspector can test the mold for a fee to tell you what type it is but it doesn't really matter. It's mold and you have a problem that needs correction. Save your money and fix the problem and the mold. I'm so pleased I contacted them and followed their advice to get an independent inspection, have the air flow corrected, and finally remediate the mold. Also if you are able to follow the inspectors into every nook and cranny of the area you need work done. The more knowledge you have the better of a job you will get done.

They arrived very quickly after being called to find us mildly hysterical over our flooded basement. They immediately outlined a plan of action, which we accepted, and they began to deal with the emergency issues of water control and mold growth. We felt that they knew what they were doing and they worked every day on our behalf to get things stable. They really saw us as people, not just a nameless customer, and their efficient handling of the project helped us through a very rough time. We didn't really get other bids (although we interviewed another company that we didn't like), but Oregon Restoration's pricing seemed fair and reasonable for all the hours they spent and all the work they did. They worked with us for several weeks to get the apartment ready to begin the waterproofing and rebuilding. This included demo-ing all the rooms, including kitchen and bath, flood-cutting the sheetrock, and trying very hard to save as many things from damage as possible. Ryan is very knowledgeable and able to explain things well. Curtis ran the whole project onsite, and he and the guys who came with him were always professional and friendly. We were completely satisfied with everything they did.

Courteous, knowledgeable, and did a great job at an attractive price. Called before arriving and right on time. Gave some excellent advise on care and cleaning of both carpet and chairs. Checked fabric label before cleaning chairs and determined he could not do them. Will use them again.

Cleaned up a bad situation.

Everyone I interfaced with at Oregon Restoration and their primary sub-contractor (Fox Creek Painting and Construction LLC) were fantastic. They are highly professional and were always punctual and cleaned up as much as possible at the end of each day. At the end of the project, it was impossible to detect that there ever was a problem in the kitchen. They also interfaced with both my insurance company and estimator which was extremely helpful to maximize the amount that was covered by insurance.

It's all above however it's been so long I don't remember the cost. It was either more or less than I stated. I just wanted to post a review for him and his company.

Oregon Restoration owner showed up promptly, told me what I needed to do quickly, and came prepared to do the work. He installed fans and a dehumidifier to minimize further damage. He had to pull out insulation and ductwork and replace both. He had to pull up the bathroom cabinet and toilet and replace both. He subcontracted the new linoleum and the wallboard repairs. Excellent responsiveness with a small job.

They were really great to work with! I would recommend them to my closest friends and family. And I would go with them again in a heartbeat. They were very prompt, came in right away and got to work mitigating the damage immediately. They dealt with my insurance company who were giving me hard time about coverage, and made sure that I was fairly compensated for my claim! They advocated for me with my insurance company and I am so grateful to them! I did not have to deal with the bill at all, they worked with my insurance company directly. They worked fast and efficiently, they cleaned up really well and they took all precautions to ensure that my indoor air quality was not affected by their work. They were really professional and they had great customer service, they always responded immediately whenever I called with questions and took the time to address all of my concerns.

It was an amazing experience. The carpets are older and after they were cleaned they appeared new! Drying time was very fast due to the big fans they used!

They did a good job. He clearly described the process and carried it out. It involved the demolition of a mold infested shower etc.

I went through the attic with a mold inspector who pointed out his areas of concern. When the test came back, it was a nonhazardous mold. I got a couple of estimates. One of the estimators didn't even come out to the house--he just gave me an estimate based on square footage. It was a very reasonable estimate (low-ball, cut-rate), but there was no way I was going to hire someone who didn't even see what he was dealing with or give me the opportunity to evaluate him in person. On the other hand, Ryan with Oregon Restoration came out and we went through the entire attic and the inspector's report. Ryan patiently and thoroughly reviewed what we were seeing as well as what we were NOT seeing. I was concerned about the possibility of needing additional attic vents in the attic. Ryan told me that the mold I was seeing in the house and garage attic spaces were probably present when the sheathing was applied when the house was built and presented no health problems. He told me that there was plenty of ventilation in the house attic (it had a full length ridge vent and continuous eave vents), but that I needed a couple of vents in the garage attic (it had a very small ridge vent and continuous eave vents). Ryan then gave me a detailed explanation of what he proposed--it matched exactly what the inspector had previously told me. Oregon Restoration sent one person to do the work. He explained what he was going to do (exactly what Ryan told me he would do) and promptly went about his work. He set up his heap vacuuming filtration system, then put on biohazard suit, donned his mask, put in his earphones, and disappeared into the attic. He didn't stop working except for lunch and to ask me if it was OK for him to work late (it was). At the end of a long day, he came down and gave me a detailed report on what he did. He explained that he had one more long day to finish. At the end of the second long day, he finished. I had him place three fans in the attic to assist drying the mold sanitizer/inhibitor. A couple of days later, I went up in the attic to retrieve the fans. I could not believe the job--the plywood sheathing that was black with mold looked brand-new. All the plywood and the trusses in the entire attic looked unblemished (i.e. like the top grade plywood you see in Home Depot)--even the tight areas where the eaves met the roof looked brand-new. You can get someone to do it cheaper, but you get what you pay for. If you want quality, hire these guys. Period. You can get cheaper, but you get what you pay for. If you want a quality job, hire these guys. Period.

I talked with Ryan at the recommendation of a mold testing company to set up an inspection to complete mold remediation in my attic. He agreed to meet the following Wednesday at 9:30 am. After he did now show up at the scheduled time, I called and left a message to inquire about his absence. It is now Saturday, and he has still not returned my call or emailed me. Very unprofessional conduct. I will not be using his services in the future, as I am very disappointed. His lack of response makes his company and the company that referred him look bad.

Habitat for Humanity acquired a condominium and remodeled it for transfer to a family in need. After we discovered a serious mold issue in the attic, needed to get it professionally mitigated. Oregon Restoration Co. accomplished the work removing the mold and treating the attic to prevent or reduce the growth of mold in the future. They did a fantastic job, restoring the ceiling of the attic to like new condition. As a donation in kind to the mission of Habitat, this work was provided free of charge. The new homeowner and Habitat for Humanity are very grateful to Oregon Restoration for there thorough and professional work, and generous contribution.

IF THERE WERE A GRADE HIGHER THAN AN"A".WE WOULD CERTAINLY GIVE IT. QUICK , PROFESSIONAL RESPONSE. WORK COMPLETED TWO DAYS AFTER CONTACT. YOU WILL NOT FIND NICER PEOPLE TO WORK WITH THAN RYAN, SPIDER AND DAVE. WHEN CLOTHES NEEDED TO BE MOVED, THEY HELPED....WHEN THINGS NEEDED TO BE PUT BACK THEY DID IT WITHOUT ASKING. NOT ONE SPECK OF DIRT OR DUST WAS LEFT BEHIND..... WE WERE PREPARED FOR THE WORST.....AND GOT THE BEST. WHAT A PLEASANT SURPRISE!

It went excellent. I would work with them again. They were prompt, responsive, and had an over the top service.

From the first meeting, to our last interaction, everything was great! Ryan spent a lot of time with me, and on his own, figuring out how to remove the mold from the home I purchased, without adding any chemicals which could have aggravated my chemical sensitivity. They blasted the attic with baking soda, and cleaned the mold from the crawl space using HEPA vacuuming, then wetting the mold, and then gently brushing it off. The attic now looks beautiful and is mold free. They also installed a vapor barrier which I purchased in my crawl space. When I had questions or concerns, Ryan was always very prompt in following up, and in taking care of any concerns. Sometimes I felt like I was asking too much of their company, but he always assured me that they were just doing their job. The results are fabulous. Other contractors who have seen the before and after are very impressed. I would not hesitate to use Oregon Restoration and Ryan Gilyeat again for a similar concern in a different property, and to recommend him hands down as the best mold remediator in the Portland metro area. I did use Mold Sciences for the inspection, and they told me he was the best, and they were right. I did meet with two other mold remediation companies, and did entertain a total of three bids. From the get go, I could tell Oregon Restoration was the best company for my needs and they delivered!

They were prompt, very professional, had the best quote, and had great people to work with.

I called Oregon Restoration this morning to inspect some water damage that was the result of a slow water leak in my bathroom. Ryan was at my house in less than two hours at exactly the time he said he would arrive. Ryan was thorough in his investigation of our damage, and gave us the good news that it was minor and did not need his services. Even though we did not have a paying job for Ryan to complete, he took time to explain all of the issues and exactly what we needed to do to fix the issue ourselves. Ryan was thorough, knowledgeable and professional. If we ever have additional water damage in the future, Oregon Restoration is the first company I will call.

They were great. I chose them because of their enthusiasm and can do attitude. It seemed like I had a problamtic issue and they were more than eager to resolve the problem. Their process seemed to be the most effective to the area.

I had water overflow in my bathroom which extended into the bedroom. I called Oregon Restoration on a Sunday morning and Curtis was at my house a couple of hours later. He was very nice and professional and answered all my questions. He explained what he was doing and why. Curtis vacuumed and cleaned up all the debris from the work he did. He did a great job removing the base moulding without damaging it; the insurance appraiser even commented on how well he did that. Ryan came out two days later and tested for moisture to make sure everything had dried out, and then removed the equipment. I have been very pleased with this company. Ryan kept me informed and was happy to answer any questions I had. He and Curtis were very honest and only did the work that was necessary. I highly recommend this company and would definitely hire them again.

Ryan was very professional and communicated with me all along. Both men who did the actual work were professional and courteous. I will definitely use them again.
