From the moment they walk into our house, they have shoes covers all the way to cleaning the furnace and surrounding area.  The technician that came was very knowledgable, explaining the difference in the types of filters (we were paying too much for ours) and explaining what draft and temperature rise were and how it affects the whole house and our utility bill!  I would recommend not only an annual contract (as it includes emergency service) but any service they offer.

Everything went better than I expected. The price was based on a service call and checking the furnace. It was a very short visit but the technician showed me exactly what the problem was and how to fix it in the future.

Our experience with Westland Heating/Air Conditioning went very well. We were most pleased. Our HVAC system was getting near the end of its useful life. The furnace was 21 years old and had a number of repairs in the last several years. Our 11 year old air conditioner was intermittently starting to emit onerous sounds on start up. We felt it was time to replace the HVAC system. We conducted an extensive internet search of HVAC systems and manufacturers. After an extensive search, we learned that the industry has consolidated and a limited number of manufacturers make most of the brands on the market. We ultimately decided we wanted an Goodman/Amana HVAC system. They offer a great warranty and were recommended by people who has these units installed. Of the two, we chose the Amana system because it offered a better warranty and used a two stage air conditioner compressor in its high SEER units. Warranty conditions require installation by an authorized dealer. The manufacturers website identified dealers in our area. We then identified those dealers which also had good BBB and Angies List ratings. We then contacted several 'vetted' dealers for estimates. We ultimately chose Westland because we viewed them as providing the best value, i.e. knowledge, competence, pricing, location and participation in FirstEnergy's HpwES Home Energy Assessment program. (First Energy does not have this program for calendar year 2009.) We were impressed with Westland's Sales Representative - Jay Peabody. He was most forthright assessing our needs and desires. We told him that because of rising energy costs, we wanted Amana's (a) top of the line furnace, i.e. 96% efficient, two stage furnace w/multi-speed blower, (b) a high SEER, two stage rating air conditioner, and if needed, a new air cleaner and humidifier. Jay told us that most cost effective air conditioner was more cost effective unit in northern Ohio was the 16 SEER not 18 SEER unit, i.e. the payback period was too long for added cost of the 18 SEER unit. He told us that our 'old' electronic cleaner didn't require replacement. He recommended a new humidifier to replace our 30 year old unit. He was patient and accommodating when we had to delay installation because we needed some basement repairs and then unexpectedly had to use our basement for storage of a family members possessions delay moving to a new home. Westland completed their professional, high quality installation in one (miserable weather) December day. They will balance the air conditioner when the weather spring arrives. We totally agree with BBB's A+ and Angie's List A rating for this company. We prefer working with honest, responsive, local companies. We highly recommend this company.

Barry, the service man, was on time, polite, wore booties, and took care not to track anything into the house. Got right to work, also adjusted the air flow in the ducts and cleaned up after himself before leaving. Very professional service.
