Derrick came out on 3/28/14 and gave me an estimate for the work. The proposal included removing all of the T1-11 wood panel siding and all of the trim. Repairing any of the rotted plywood substrate and replacing the T1-11 with Hardy board and batten siding. Replacing the chimney chase cover and painting the flue and flue cap with rustoleum paint. Wrapping the chimney with Tyvek and replacing the step flashing around the chimney. Painting everything when it was finished. I normally like to get 3 estimates for a job of that size and it took a while to do that. My main problem was the follow up with other companies. By the time I was ready to make a decision it was late May. I called and asked to talk to Derrick to clear up a few questions I had. The person I spoke with passed my message along and he called me within an hour to discuss my questions. After almost 2 months he spoke about the project as if he were in my yard giving me the bid. I'm sure he was looking at notes and the pictures he initially took. I appreciated that. One thing I was insistent about was that I be there when the demolition was being done. I was curious as to how the chimney was put together because of another project I'm considering. I also wanted to see how well the original builders insulated it and in general how well/poorly it was constructed. Ohio Exteriors worked with my request and were able to schedule the work for when I was on vacation. The job took roughly 2 1/2 days. Derrick and his assistant showed up on time on 6/30 and got right to work. My last morning they had the demo completed and let me see the insides of the wood frame as I requested. Derrick explained what he found that would need to be replaced and gave me a pretty good overall idea of the condition of the entire chimney. By the end of the day he had replaced some of the plywood substrate, some rotted 2x4's a section of 2x10 and had applied the house wrap to the chimney. It rained pretty hard that night but the next morning when I looked the house wrap had done its job and everything was dry. Derrick had the Hardy panel and trim on by the end of day 2 and came back and pained on day 3. I cannot be happier with the way it turned out. He did an excellent job. His attention to detail was spot on. I took a close look later in the day and have no issues with anything. You could tell he took his time and did the job right. I am very pleased with the job. Ohio Exteriors will be on my list of people to call for my other projects and knowing the quality work Derrick does will make it harder for others to get my business.

Jim called from Ohio Exteriors to take a look at our roof. We had a few leaks and wanted an honest opinion of our options. I do not think I got an honest opinion from Jim and therefore would not recommend this company to anyone. Here is why: Jim said my roof was about to cave in and need immediate attention. A complete roof replacement. He also said that he did not get up on the second story roof because "there was too much moss and stuff" He said that if I hadn't showed him where the leak was he might have fallen through the roof it was so bad. He was trying to scare me into buying right then in there! He said the roof shingles were baked and were cracked. He said the entire surface of the roof was spongy and that was why he wanted us to replace the roof. He would not even give me an estimate on a repair, only a complete roof. I do not believe a word he said because he was one of three contractors I had look at my roof. My story is as follows. Roofing contractor 1: Said I have about 5 years left and the repairs to fix the leak shouldn't be hard at all! Will give me a quote, in the mail soon. This guy was very kind and explained why the shingles were cracking. They were cracking because the only thing that was cracking was the "painted" (not what he called it, but close) surface, not the shingle itself. He said he would include a brochure on what he was taking about to better understand the shingles I have on the roof now. He said they are getting old, but still have some life in them. Said that we would need to replace some wood, because of warpage, when we get the roof replaced, but it is not needed at this time. He had no problem getting to the second story roof of our home. Ohio Exteriors: Said above.. The roof is in horrible shape and I need to get a roof NOW! Said he didn't want to get to the second story roof because of the moss and mold on the first story roof. Look at my comments above for more info. Roofing contractor 3: Said we need to get a few repairs done and we have about 2 or so years left on the roof. They would repair the few leaks and recommend an inspection next year. Based on the opinions of the other roofing companies I will not use this company for service. I must say the inspector named Jim should be closely monitored as he is providing false information to his prospective customers. ******************Update *********************************** The owner came out and looked at the roof. He agreed my roof was not going to cave in. He also informed us that Ohio Exteriors does not do repairs on a roof that has two layers of shingles. The owner may me feel better about this company. I would remembered them. Thank you for coming out to take another look.

This first time experience went well...the owner gave estimate and I was able to negotiate the price down $200.00. He also gave great advice on not wasting money on a repair of my screened in porch due to some structural issues (another company wanted me to repair and it would have been a waste of money) one thing that I found unusual is they required half the money down to get on their schedule......if they were not highly rated on the list I would not have put money down prior to completion of work. The work went great and was of the highest quality.

They scheduled the estimate appointment at the time of my call. The gentleman who came out was able to identify the exact manufacturer and color of our siding. Other well known area names told us they would have only been able to get a close match... The cost for both repairs was slightly more than what the other well known wanted for only the siding. We agreed to the repairs on Thursday and Monday we were called and told they can get us in on Tuesday!! The installer was friendly and willing to explain everything to us and what type of future up keep was/was not necessary for the garage repair. The water damage was worse than we initially thought, but no additional costs were incurred. He cleaned everything up before he left and even left the extra siding for us should we need to replace another piece in the future.

Ohio Exteriors returned my call quickly and scheduled an appointment to give me an estimate. They arrived precisely on time and spent considerable time determining where the problem was. I was prepared for a much higher estimate of the damage, but he assured me that the problem area was easily contained. He also gave me 2 options of different costs to handle the problem, and was not pushy at all. I really appreciated his explanation of the issue, and I chose the the more expensive option based on his explanation. This was still only $570, so it was an easy decision. He let me know that someone would be calling me to schedule the work. Their main office called me a few days later and asked if they could come out that afternoon and perform the repairs. They noted that I did not have to be present; it would just be done. I told them to go ahead. When I got home that evening, I took a stroll around the house to see the work, and I could see the area that had been repaired and it looks great. I have to assume that everything is taken care of. I received an invoice via email, which is really convenient. They have it set up via the web and it's very easy to use. All in all, a great experience. The only thing I would change (and this is just a personal thing) would be to be present when the work was done. Call me old-fashioned, but I want to "see" the work being done. I'm no roofer, so I wouldn't know a shingle from a roofing nail, so I just have to take it on faith that the work was done. This is not a reflection on the work or the roofer; it's just my suspicious nature. I would recommend this company to everyone; I would let these guys work on my moms house. That's how good they are!

Even with recent heavy rains, leak has not recurred. Yeah! Since we don't have much experience with roof repairs (thank goodness), I can only evaluate price based on total elapsed time of service. Seems a fairly high flat rate, but then maintenance costs generally make me gasp.

Everything was average. I didn't think what was offered met my expectations.

I requested a quote from Ohio Exteriors and two other highly rated contractors from Angie's List. The 3 quotes were comparable but I ultimately went with Ohio Exteriors because they offered several manufacturer's shingles from which to choose. I wanted an algae resistant shingle, which was one of the choices and they were very helpful in answering my questions. They also offered to fix some loose siding the estimator noticed and included that in the quote. I thought that was a thoughtful touch. The company reps were very responsive and pleasant. Scheduling the work went smoothly and the workers showed up when promised. I was very pleased with the work, clean-up and final result. The company also agreed to make one minor change after the work was completed, something they didn't have to do. I highly recommend Ohio Exteriors.

It was ok. They had to do more than repair the wood but its been a while and I don't remember much about it. They were on time.

The work on the roof was fine but the original reason for contacting Ohio Exterior and purchasing the package was never completed by them.

James and his team did a wonderful job; my mother in law was VERY pleased. The team showed up when scheduled, did a home and garage roof in one day, and the area was spotless afterward (they cleaned up very well). My mother in law was pleased w/ James and his visits, the guys that did the work, the care they took w/ her property, and the estimate was spot-on, too. Thank you, James/team!!!

Started very well. The back roof was replaced quickly & timely. Only issue I have is a metal/tinney sound that is new to my house when it rains very hard. reported this but no response given. For the gutter painting and downspout repair, the gentleman assigned to my project was off sick and communication was not the best between him, me and ohio exterior's office. I had to call him and the office to get scheduled dates. To complicate this we have had a lot of rain which kept them from being able to work on several scheduled dates - not their fault but generally I had to follow up to reschedule. Finally a new person was assigned my job and the work was concluded quickly, however he found issues that the original representative did not find and a corner box gutter had to be replaced which more than doubled the cost of repair previously quoted.

It went fine. They fixed our bathroom window since it was so cold in the bathroom. The temperature is fine now.

The provider made recommendations for additional insulation. The individual performing the service gave us a verbal report at the time of the visit and said that the written report would follow. I had to contact them after not receiving a report and finally received via email a written report with their recommendations on Dec. 12, 2011. They were to provide a video showing heat loss via a thermal scan however they later claimed malfunction of the camera.

Siding was pulled loose by the wind from the bottom rows up. Derrick arrived promptly to do an estimate and explained everything well. An appointment was scheduled and, other than a very slight glitch in communication about arrival time on the day scheduled, everything went very smoothly. Derrick again explained the way he did the repair.

Overall, they did a great job. The person who gave the estimate was thorough, friendly and efficient. Liz at the office maintained good communication. The work crew just showed up and got it done. Nice company to work with.

My initial review for these guys was not very good to say the least, however, they have done everything to correct the situation (which was caused by a bad employee, not the company) and I could not be more pleased with how professional and helpful they have turned out to be. None of us are perfect and mistakes are sometimes made. It is how we correct and fix those mistakes that really matters and Ohio Exteriors has done that way beyond my expectations. They stated they would make it right and they 100% did. ...

I was quite pleased with them. I didn't have any problems with them at all. They were very accommodating and they did it no matter what strange request I had. I asked them to seal the stone chimney on the house, after investigation and looking over the work that needed done, they were honest that couldn't handle the work and recommended I contact a mason to get that done. They were very prompt, and they were accommodating to my Saturday schedule. I was comfortable with their pricing & I plan on using them again in the future.

Had scheduled an inspection for leaky roof. No show and no call for the appt. when we called them, they said they didn't come due to rain. We cancelled and used someone else.

Responsiveness is not their strong suit but was much better than anyone else I was trying to work with. When they showed to examine the situation, he was very nice, seemed to know the trade and was in line with what I was thinking towards what was the cause of my water leak. The pricing seemed reasonable. It took a while for them to call back to schedule an appointment. Had to make several phone calls but eventually was able to make the appointment. They arrived as scheduled and completed the work.

Scott was great! Our needs were rather minor and therefore were covered by Ohio Exteriors' minimum service call charge. (This was less than another company's minimum charge.) So, not only did Scott perform the requested work but he also found several additional tasks that were needed (caulking, tightening trim) and performed them as part of the the minimum charge. Great customer service! We would definitely use Scott again.

Called to schedule an appointment - didn't show up...I called to confirm and was told they wouldn't be able to make it. We rescheduled and then again a no-show. Understand needing to reschedule and that sometimes conflicts can't be avoided but would've expected a call.

The service did not go as well as I would of liked. He was very hardworking but I didn’t feel he had the knowledge to do the job. He sealed around some of the windows on the outside of the house.

We called, and they said they would send someone out to look at the roof. He looked at the roof, and said he would send someone out to give us an estimate. We never heard from them again, even after a follow-up call. We were interested in working with them, but I don't know what happened.
