Sears Garage Doors

I bought the big deal: "$99 Garage Door Tune-Up with Quiet Roller Replacement". I bought two of them since I have two doors. I contacted them by phone and they got right back to me, and came out within a couple of days. Showed up on time and were there about an hour and a half. They replaced the rollers on both doors with nylon rollers, which was fine. It's the "tune up" part of the deal I wasn't happy with. I've had other garage door companies "tune up" my doors and when they leave the doors are dramatically better: no more jerky motion, much less noise, much smoother operation. That's what I expected with this deal, but they did not adjust the doors or tracks in any way, they just replaced the rollers. When they left the doors were slightly quieter from the new rollers, but not much, and still jerky in motion. When I called later about an issue (door going back up) the technician specifically said he did not adjust the doors or tracks in any way (though he did come back out and adjust the collision sensor so the door would go down). If you want primarily the nylon rollers then this is a good deal. If you want your doors adjusted by an expert for smoothness and noise, they did not do that. Perhaps if I had watched the installation and made it clearer that I wanted the doors adjusted, they would have done that, but I thought it was pretty obvious they needed it.

great. technician was on time, was friendly, answered all my questions, wasn't offended by my messy garage, explained what he was doing at each step of the way, helped me learn more about the equipment, worked quickly, demonstrated steps I can take to maintain good working order of the door. I was impressed with his competence and experience.

I'm impressed by the professionalism of this company. I requested an afternoon appointment. They called the day before to give me a time range, between 12:00 and 3:00. On the day of the appointment, Shawn called at 12:00 to see if 1:00 was convenient for me. I appreciated that courtesy call because I could then plan my afternoon. Shawn was at my door a little after 1:00. He answered my questions about a new garage door opener without using any scare tactics to pressure me into buying a new one considering mine is old. And he gave me a $25 coupon towards my next Sears home service that I can apply towards a new opener. I am very pleased with their service.

The company called the day before to verify and then called that morning when they were on their way--right on time. I expected maybe they'd tell me I needed to replace some parts because though the door is only 10 or so years old, the works are 24 years old but they said everything is in good shape. They left no mess or debris. The opening and closing of the door is now noticeably quieter and everything functions smoothly. When I open the door for the first time each day, there is a little screech that lasts less than a second---I haven't yet asked them to come back and lube whatever needs to be lubed to take care of that one small glitch because I've been unavailable at home but I have no doubt they will find the source and fix it in a matter of seconds. They did test the door after servicing it but wouldn't have noticed the noise because it only occurs the first time after being inactive for hours.

.I was told that the doors were over 50 years old and that parts were no longer available. The next door company I called assured me that they worked on doors such as mine all the time so I had them do the work. I feel that Sears gave me the old "bait and switch" and I would never deal with them again. They should have been more specific about just what service they are willing to provide.

uneventful. I like the new key pad and he took the time to explain to me how to properly lubricate garage door parts... Did make a pitch for an insulated door but when I said I was not ready to make that investment did not push the issue.

Everything worked out well. The service was quick and the technician that did come out was thorough. The garage is now a lot quitter. They came out two days after we had called to schedule the appointment. We had one garage door tuned up

Tommy, the Sears technition, showed up on time, and got right to work. He was very polite and knew alot about the particular door. He answered all of my questions and completed the job quickly. He even reset the height of the door, so that it would close closer to the ground.

When I moved into my condo the garage door was off track and wouldn't operate. Sears sent two guys to fix it.. They tried to fix the opener but said that it was not compatible with any remote. Since I wanted a remote they had to replace the garage door opener. I paid a lot more than I had intended but they did a very good job. They made sure to explain how it worked before they left and I am pleased with the results.

I received two confirmation phone calls and one " we are on our way, about 20 minutes out". Tommy and Al replaced the rollers and lubricated the door in no time and offered suggestions for keeping the door in good working order. If I need repairs or replacement in the future I would not hesitate to call on this company.

It was great! They came when they said the would and they installed the keypad. They were willing to do extra work too. They knew exactly what I wanted and they were very thorough with their ideas. They were only there 15 to 20 minutes in and out. I preferred them to do both of my rollers and keypad so I paid for an extra 80$ for that.

It was wonderful! He was not pushy, he was very good. He was very professional and I thought I got a good deal. He probably came a week after I purchased the deal to do the work. There were no additional charges beyond the big deal amount.

Excellent. The installer arrived at scheduled time. Was very pleasant and courteous. He performed the expected work in a timely manner and for an additional $50.00 (included in approximate cost listed above) replaced a new Keyless Entry pad on my second garage. The work performed was excellent, my reconditioned garage door is more silent and does not jerk when opening or closing. Very pleased with work. Installer gave me a quote to have the overhead mechanism replaced in order to connect the opener to my car. I will have this work performed soon.

The servicemen arrived right on time. They inspected the garage door, tracks, rollers, and springs and said they were in great shape. The only thing they had to do was grease the tracks, rollers, and main spring. Afterwards, they installed the remote control, which was a part of the package deal. The two servicemen were very professional.

Al called with an ETA which was much appreciated with 3 small children and 2 dogs to corral. He patiently explained what he was going to do and the benefits of having it done. He even took the time to tell me everything I needed to know about maintaining the opener and garage doors in general. He was kind enough to replace the battery in my keyless entry box. Then when finished went over anything that needed to be monitored going forward.

They were punctual and extremely nice. He put quiet rollers on the garage door and tuned it up. He showed me how to maintain the door and also told me about the features on a new garage door opener, when the time comes to replace my existing one.

We found out after they arrived, even though their office knew what work we needed and model we had, that they did not stock the wall pad. Then they tried to sell us a completely new garage door system (which we declined). We later found out the wall pad is a simple piece they could have ordered. It was a total waste of our time and money as they couldn't perform the main service we expected them to complete. They ultimately just greased the slides of our current door. But they even screwed that up, over greasing it to the point there was significant grease build up dripping down into our garage and on our cars. When we called to have someone come back to correct this issue, they no-showed on the first scheduled time (after we had to take a day from work). A technician then later came out and admitted the first tech we had completely messed the job up, and that first tech should have even been able to replace our wall pad. They were a complete disaster to work with. They never offered to refund our money or otherwise address the fact there was grease to be cleaned from our garage floor and cars.

They never called me. A friend of mine only told me I needed a remote, not the whole big deal. So, I am requesting a refund.
