As stated above All Ohio Radon was not able to effectively install the mitigation system due to the construction of the basement floor. The technician was very good at explaining what he was going to do and mad sure that I was comfortable with the whole process before he proceeded. Once he ran into problems he explained what he was going to try to do and once that was not successful he made sure that I understood why he could not continue. He then cleaned the work area up and offered suggestions on what could be done to take care of my situation (work that this company could not perform because it was out of their scope of expertese). Tey also assured me that there would be no charge because the conditions were such that the mitigation system that they were hired to install could not be installed.
Description of Work: All Ohio Radon attempted to install a mitigation system however due to the construction of the basement floor (poured directly on clay,no stone or sand) they were not able to establish suction and abandoned the installation at no charge.

Our basement originally tested high for radon in both the finished side (20 pCi/L) and the unfinished side (11.3 pCi/L). After checking the reviews on Angie' List, I contacted All Ohio Radon Services. Wayne returned my call within a couple of hours and was able to give me an estimate based on my description of my home, the my test results and basement configuration. They scheduled our work to fit around my work schedule and Kevin arrived 15 minutes early on the date scheduled to start the work. We discussed the location options and I decided on an internal system that would go out of the basement, into the garage and up through the attic and out the back side of the roof. After drilling 4 test holes and the main mitigation site, Wayne and Kevin were able to determine the proper size fan and the work took about 8 hours to complete. They also sealed the sump pump well and cleaned everything up after each step was completed. The roof stack was painted to match our plumbing stacks. They setup 2 radon monitors to test for 3 days after the work was completed to verify the results (one on the finished side of the basement and one on the unfinished side). The radon level in the basement now averages 1.7 pCi/L. The system works very well. Wayne provided a and quot;Certificate of Mitigationand quot; along with the final test results for our records. They were extremely customer friendly and explained everything well and answered all questions. I would highly recomend this contractor.

We contacted All Ohio Radon Services due to finding radon during our home inspection. Wayne promptly returned my call, providing me with a great deal of information on radon and radon mitigation. Our home is constructed with insulated concrete form walls for energy efficiency. As a result, Wayne spent about an hour with me, taking his time to understand our unique needs relating to installing a mitigation system. In addition, since our walls had between 7 and 9 inches of concrete surrounded by Styrofoam, Wayne took the time to find, then schedule, a contractor to drill through the walls. Our system comes up through the basement, into the garage then exits the house through the roof. Wayne and his team did an excellent and thorough job. After installation, another radon test was conducted over a three day period. Our radon reading was reduced to 0.8pCi/L from 5.5. We were exceptionally pleased with the all the work done before and after installation of the radon mitigation system. We would highly recommend All Ohio Radon Services.
Description of Work: Thoroughly reviewed our situation for a radon mitigation system, provided a detailed estimated, then installed the system in one day.

We just bought a 100-year-old house and during the pre-purchase inspection the basement tested high for radon, and I wanted to get this taken care of asap. All-Ohio Radon Services seemed to be a reputable local company, based on the Angie's List reviews, so I called them and set up a time and date for a no-cost assessment and estimate. Wayne Porter came to my house on time and seemed to know what he was talking about, but he never followed up with me. While he was at my home, Wayne Porter said the layout of the house presented some challenges for the installation of a radon system, but he said he several possible solutions. However, he never called me back or presented his possible solutions. If Wayne Porter of All-Ohio Radon Services did not want to do the job, or felt it was beyond the scope of his experience, he should have said that and I could have moved on sooner. This is no way to do business.
Description of Work: All-Ohio assessed my home for installation of a radon mitigation system. After the assessment, Wayne Porter told me he would be in touch with an estimate. He never called or sent an e-mail. After a couple of weeks, I called him. He said he "hadn't forgotten" about me, and said he would have an estimate to me with in a week. I never heard from him.

Our basement is now at a safe level of Radon as rated by the EPA US standards. Truly an awesome company. They took the time to review everything with me before they did it, and let me know just what to expect. Then they went above and beyond what I expected, and all this at a cost lower than I expected. Professional courteous service, they performed the work quickly and efficiently, with superb quality. Our house was brand new, and these guys treated it like it was their own. Their quality was better than the builders subs.

When I called, Wayne Porter (partner in the business) spoke with me at length and was very helpful. He made an appointment to come for a free estimate. Again, very helpful, friendly, knowledgeable as well as punctual and professional. I was having estimates done by other companies offering the same services, so it took me awhile to get back to him. I chose their company based on the excellence they showed in offering a system that would not tear up my interior walls, outside or basement. It was a far superior plan compared to the other services I had gotten estimates from and whose finished work I had seen. You can really get your house torn up and end up with a system that looks like an automated bank drive up tube gone wrong sitting in the center of your finished floor. Do yourself a favor and get a truly professional and finished job that leaves little evidence you have a system installed. The install went perfect, and when the retest was done for radon levels over 3 days, the levels had dropped from 9.4 (the top acceptable number for health safety is 4) to 0.8! HIGHLY SATISFIED.
Description of Work: Installed system to rid my home of high radon levels. I had my home levels monitored at length on two separate occasions, and knew I needed to address our basement if we want to live here safely for years to come.

All Ohio Radon services were very good in what they did. We live in copley in a fairly new development where we had very high level of Radon. These guys were good. After installing one pipe for suction, (which is what normally is required) they found that it was not enough for reducing the levels to the desired amount. They went ahead and drilled another pipe for suction and the additional pipe installation worked. I appreciate their integrity and professionalism. All in all, I am very happy with the work they did.

Wayne came out, shortly after I called, to quote a radon mitigation system for our home. Wayne was very professional and clearly knowledgeable on the subject. A week or so later, he came out and installed the system. For how obtrusive and obvious the system can be, and stick out on the side of your house, Wayne did a great job. It's not that noticeable, inside or out, and everything was properly done to achieve a very clean looking install.I highly recommend this company and Wayne. Very professional, does an excellent job, courteous, good communication, the whole deal.

Wayne Porter is an expert at radon testing and radon system installation. He installed a system in a house we were selling for an estate in Brecksville Ohio.
Description of Work: Wayne Porter installed a radon system into a house we were selling. Not only was he knowledgeable over the phone at the initial phone call, but he calmly and completely explained the tests, procedures and necessary elements of installing the radon system. He met my husband on several trips and exceeded our expectations on service and professionalism. I would absolutely recommend this company , and use them again if ever needed.

I could not believe the quality of service still existed in today's world. Wayne and Andy did a wonderful job and showed up exactly when they said they would, got right after the work and did a very professional job. Unfortunately system did not drop the radon level to an acceptable level. We started out with a reading of 12 which is above the acceptable level of 4. The first attempt only dropped the level to around 7. Wayne and Andy suggested we add additional taps in the wall and another location in the floor. They returned a couple of weeks later installed an addition 40 feet of PVC and tapped the wall and the floor. They did this for a very minimal cost and the system worked great. The level actually dropped below 1. well under the minimum level. Wayne would stay in contact with me calling to see how things were going. Wayne and Andy did a very professional job and were not satisfied until it was done right. I know with the amount of time they put in along with extra materials they were lucky if they broke even on costs, they never complained and focused on making sure we were happy. I cannot say enough positive things about All Ohio Radon. I would hire them in a heartbeat and recommend them to my friends.

Excellent experience. Both technicians were prompt, cleaned up during and following the installation and except for the ventilation pipe, you wouldn't know they had been in the home. They took extra care to make sure that the system performed properly as well as didn't detract from aesthetics of the home. Following the installation, they performed a post-mitigation test for 3 days in the basement and the radon level was reduced substantially. A certificate of mitigation was issued to the homeowner.

The owner, Wayne Porter, was our contact throughout. He was responsive to our initial inquiry via email through Angie's List, and very informative when we spoke on the phone. After examining the layout of our home, he provided us with an oral estimate, which he honored to the penny. Considering the extent of the labor required to work around some limitation in our home, the pricing was reasonable. He and his crew arrived exactly on time the day the work was done. and all were friendly and accommodating. They laid drop cloths everywhere they were working, and did a thorough clean-up job. The PVC piping they installed is not visible in our living spaces, and no one would notice it unless they looked into our storage room or our family coat closet. It is braced well with small composite wood 2x4s and metal fittings. (We will paint the wood to match the wall.) Wayne provided our invoice upon completion of the work which matched the estimate exactly, and which we paid by personal check. He set up radon detection equipment in our basement and left it for several days so that we could see the post-remediation readings. The average reading dropped steadily over that time, and the actual reading was near 0. When he picked up the detector, he provided a certificate that we could present to any potential home buyer in the future. All in all, an excellent experience. Wayne is very professional.
Description of Work: Inspected our home to determine the best approach to remediating the radon problem we had already learned that we had. Determined a course of action, provided a quote, and set up an appointment. Returned on the designated date and time. In a basement storage room, drilled through our foundation and into the gravel-filled space beneath. Installed piping from the foundation, up through a closet on the main floor, into the attic and out through the garage roof. Installed a vent fan in the attic to draw air up and out through the piping. Installed a gauge in a readily accessible spot to monitor the effectiveness of the venting system, and discussed fan life and maintenance with us upon completion.

The experience was fantastic from start to finish. I had called Wayne Porter to discuss the project. He was very professional and thorough. We arranged a time for him to come to our house for an estimate. He arrived right on time and got right to work looking at our basement and outside. He discussed two possible ways to install the system. The next day he emailed an estimate for the two options. When I later decided to go ahead with the work, I called him to set up a day and time. He called back to confirm. He arrived right on time to start the work. He said it would be 4 to 6 hours, but they finished in just over three! He and his co-worker were very courteous, friendly and professional in every way. They put drop cloths to protect the stairs and cleaned up perfectly when they were finished. They left a monitor for 4 days. Wayne called to set up a time to pick it up, and again arrived on time. He gave us a detailed report. Wayne explained everything they did, and how the system works. Anyone looking to have a radon reduction system installed should contact Wayne. Their system reduced the radon level to 0.3 which is equal to the outdoor level in our area. Great job!!! Probably the best contractor experience I've ever had!

I called the company a couple of weeks ago. They (Wayne) asked a number of specific questions about the house which eliminated the need for an extra visit for him to check. He quoted me a price range range based on best and worst possibilities He also explained what would be needed and done in detail. He would have done an in-home test first if I'd requested it but he reviewed the way that I tested using the kit from Home Depot (2 separate containers) and we agreed that it was accurate enough. Wayne and his partner showed up on the date specified at the time specified. They drilled a small hole in the basement floor to determine the amount of venitlation required and found that Wayne's assumption based on our phone conversation were accurate. We discussed placement of the vertical stack - basically a plastic pipe running from basement to above the house's gutters. The placement I would have preferrred was through the garage behind a door but Wayne and I agreed that would be a very diffcult job due to both wires and pipes in that area and I let him know that one of the alternate locations near the back of the house would be fine. To my surprise, they did go ahead with the difficult placement - they;re obviously up for a challenge when they can do it. Everything looks good. Minimum new piping and well out of the way - and no lost of conditioned air from my basement (I thought about just running fans through open windows - not a great idea for winter time!) If you get their answering machine, don't worry - Wayne is probably on a site and will call back as soom as he can. Oh yeah -results may vary due to what they may encounter during installation but for me they finished at exactly the quoted 6 hours and the final cost was either at or below estimate - a lot less than my neighbor paid another company.
Description of Work: Mitigation system installed consisting of a verticla plastic pipe (about 4 inches in diameter) running from the basement floor to above the garage roof. The pipe contains a quiet fan wired in the attic on continuous operation to remove radon from below the basement. The company explained each step as they went along. A monitor was left in the basement to verify that the syystem is working (60 hours minimum for the test).

I knew i needed this done for years. Finally, after joining Angie's list, looked up the companies that did this work. Called them up and they were incrediably thorough with about 10 minutes worth of questions on the phone. Interesingly, i did test for radon myself (store kit) and asked them if they would test but they wouldn't as it would be a confict of interest. I do understand that so if you need an initial radon number you'll have to hire someone for that or buy the kit. So i scheduled a date with them, cleaned out several sections of the basement where i thought the piping might go and they came did their drill hole tests and completed the job in one day (2 man team). They were really good, helpful, explained all their steps so before drilling and cleaned up well after themsleves. They left a monitoring device for ~ a week to determine the final numbers for Ohio certification.

All Ohio Radon was referred to me by our realtor and also discovered in a search through Angie's List. We had a radon mitigation system installed by another company in November 2010 which brought our radon levels down from 10 piC/L to about 2 piC/L after several adjustments. By the spring, our radon monitor was giving us readings above 4 piC/L due to the less consistent use of the furnace and blowers to heat the house. Feeling the need for a second opinion, we called All Ohio Radon. It was a very good experience talking with Wayne Porter of All Ohio Radon. His approach is pragmatic, scientific, non-alarmist and friendly. Wayne did excellent intake of important information about our house. In the end, we decided to work through our radon issue with the original company that installed our mitigation system since they know our house and because we feel that they are somewhat obligated to solve our problem. If the original company is unsuccessful in solving our radon problem, we would be most willing to contract work with All Ohio Radon.

We tested for radon prior to finishing our basement. After discovering that we had high readings (90-100 piC/L), I made calls to multiple companies for quotes on having a mitigation system installed. All-Ohio Radon Services (not to be confused with Ohio Radon Systems) were the easiest to get a hold of and promptly returned phone calls when I left a message. Wayne Porter, the owner, answered all my questions and he also asked the most questions to ensure an accurate quote. Their quote was in-line with others that I had received. Once I decided to go with them, they were easy to schedule a time for the installation. They arrived promptly and provided me with options on where they could install the system. They were very professional and did a quality job. They did not leave a mess behind and took care to make sure everything was working properly before leaving. They left a tester behind to certify the results and provided us with a warranty certificate. In the end, our readings dropped to only 0.4 piC/L. They've definitely given us peace of mind knowing that our basement is safe since we are in the process of finishing it.
Description of Work: Installed an internally-routed Radon mitigation system which involved drilling a hole in our basement floor, running pvc piping from the hole, up the wall, into our garage and exiting through the garage attic. A continuously running exhaust fan and proper electrical switches were installed to vent the radon gases out. On the roof a boot was installed to make the exit water-tight and the pvc piping was painted black for aesthetics. The system was tested prior to completing the job to verify that it was working properly. Total time was about 6 hours to install.
