STAY AWAY from Apple Air Conditioning and Heating of Seaford New York. They are unethical and CHEAT their customers out of their hard earned money!!!!! I have a medical need for working A/C and this company is trying to take advantage of a disabled veteran. We put in a service call for an intermittent faulty ac thermostat. When the technician Eric arrived, he went up into our attic to check out the air handler. When he came down, he asked if we were having a problem with the unit cooling. We told him no, that the thermostat was the problem. He was told that, of course on very hot 90 something degree days, the a/c stays on longer to keep the house cool, but that was understandable. He then went out the front door to check on the condenser. After a few minutes, I went out the back door to meet and observe what he was doing and as I rounded the corner of the house where he was working with his back toward me, I HEARD him releasing Freon gas from my system into the atmosphere. I said nothing and quickly backed up to behind my house where he could not see me and listened. I heard this release of Freon gas 3 or 4 times. I went back into the house and informed my wife of what I had witnessed. After a short time, Eric came back into the house and stated that the system was very low on Freon and if we wanted it charged it would cost $499. I was beside myself when I heard that. An apple tech fraudulently stating what issue he had found/created. Knowing what I knew, I told him to do whatever he had to do to make sure the central a/c was working properly and to have "TONY" (the owner of the business) call me as soon as possible. Now, common sense would dictate in a "very low Freon" situation, there must be a leak somewhere and that the tech would also suggest inserting a dye so the leak could be located and repaired. He didn't, I asked "well shouldn't you put dye in to find the leak"? He responded with, "that would cost another $49". Now I realized how blatant a ripoff this was becoming. After he recharged the system, while walking to his truck, I had asked him if he was going to put the dye in. He said to me "as long as I pay him for it and the Freon today when the job was complete". So now I find out after the fact that he is expecting to be paid cash on the spot!!! Here, all this time I am thinking that the office will be billing me and that when Tony would call me as requested, I would address the $499 bill along with the dishonesty of his employee. Well, once he found out that he was not getting any quick cash, he didn't put any dye into my system. He buttoned everything up and came back into the house for a signature. I asked him how much Freon he put in and his reply was "A LOT". I guess I must have a very rare and special central air conditioning system that works perfectly when "a lot" of Freon is needed? Needless to say that he never got my signature and I never received that requested phone call from Tony. They continue sending us invoices and we continue requesting that Tony speak with us but nothing so far. Maybe with this experience being shared Internet and Social Media Wide so other people know how crooked of a company Apple Air Conditioning and Heating REALLY is, we'll get that phone call.
