Due to major surgery, we were forced to delay the job several months. During this time Tom Katsaros, the owner, was patient and understanding. The crew started and ended on time. Allied promised the work would be completed in 5 days and they were. Tom asked us to look over job after the crew left and ensured that any issues discovered would be adjusted. Tom is the consummate professional.
Description of Work: Allied Construction provided a gut renovation for a small but primary bathroom in our home.

Initially, it went okay. The communication was good throughout. The problem was that Allied accepted our job, but obviously our location was a good distance away from areas that are regularly serviced. Allied subcontracted out the work to a crew of 2 who had to travel 2 hours each way to do the work. They were very polite and basically clean and organized. The first problem came when large materials like sheetrock had to be brought to our site.....we were asked to pick it up because Allied couldn't do it. The subcontracted crew wound up picking up the materials, but were not pleased because apparently that was not in the job description that they agreed to. When they got here they wanted to know "who was going to pay for this?" The next problem came the day after the work was done. We had not used the shower for 48 hours and when our son took the first shower, water came cascading down from behind the shower fixture wall to the kitchen and began pouring down the kitchen cupboards. The crew came back the next day and fixed the issue........not properly sealing the fixtures. (side-note- I had originally asked Allied if this crew had licensed plumbing and was told that if we were going to get separate licensed professionals we would have had to pay a lot more, and we were getting a great price.....not to worry.....these guys do everything well.) The last problem came about 2 weeks later when we noticed that the sheetrock butting up against the tub was puffed out and the spackle/tape was coming loose. When we touched the wall it was wet. It turned out that the crew had not properly sealed the sliding shower door frame, so it was leaking between the frame and the wall. All in all...........Allied was good communicator...and initial set-up. The subcontractors were polite, young, but inexperienced. Allied should re-evaluate taking work that is too far away from the manager to actually keep proper tabs on the job.
Description of Work: A full bathroom from demo down to the studs. Bathroom had a vanity, toilet, and shower-tub combo.

The bathrooms and bedrooms look great. The price was reasonable and King was great to deal with. The only thing I would say is that I recently I had a home inspection done and the inspector noted that in one of the bathrooms the GFIC outlet was not working correctly. I had an electrician in as I was having an outside outlet repaired and had him look at the bathroom outlet and he found it was not grounded. To be fair, I didn't contact Allied as I had the electrician in already and didn't have the time or inclination to contact them on the issue. But I would think that two months after the work was done I should not have had an issue with the outlet.

They were very pleasant to work with. The men that were in the house were gentlemen. The manager was lovely. It was a compromise. It was very good. It stayed within the reasonable price they had given. It remained a good bargain. I would recommend them.
Description of Work: It's Allied. They did my bathroom. I paid a deposit, I wasn't yet ready, they were kind and worked with me when they did the work here. They fully renovated the bathroom. They painted, they tiled, they insulated walls and they painted the ceiling and the walls. They installed bathtub, vanity and sink mirror and the toilet and a new floor.

Very satisfied with the work. Crew came by 7am and work was completed by 3pm. They were very professional, friendly and energized. Cleaned up nicely. Owner, Tom came by next day to review the work and ensure that we were satisfied. If the need arises, we would absolutely use them again and we would definitely recommend Allied Construction Corp.

We couldn't be happier with how it turned out. This is a very old house and when Christian got down to moving the toilet bowl, he realized that there was no vent pipe coming out of our bathroom. That's an old house for you. He spent several hours in the crawl space of our house explaining to my husband why he was doing what he was doing. It cost more than we expected at first, but we really didn't know what was under there and the cost that was added was very reasonable for what was eventually done. The $$ we paid Allied was for labor. I picked out and purchased the material on my own except for the beadboard which is five feet high and beautiful. I was offered suggestions that were extremely helpful in the aesthetic of the bathroom. There was a small space between the shower and the wall on the window side that needed a pantry closet. Christian spent his own time looking for a linen closet that would fit. He really went above the call of duty. One night he was here from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tom and his crew have done all of the work in my home for the last few years, and I wouldn't use anyone else. This is a tough house to work with, nothing was done to code, and I have heard the guys cursing at it occasionally, :) Yet, they find a way to make it work. It's been a year now that this was completed and there isn't a day that goes by where I don't say that I love that bathroom.
Description of Work: We had our (only) bathroom ripped out to the studs and rebuilt top to bottom.

Thank You for the Wonderful Review. It was our pleasure working with you. You and [member name removed] have been Great. See you soon for the Crown Molding in your Living Room.
Typically I find home construction jobs a source of pure aggrivation. Not so with all the work done by Allied Construction. This extensive project was an absolute pleasure. Tom and his crew were professional, punctual, skilled, and respectful. They treated my home as if it were their own and kept stressing they wanted me to be happy. Their workmanship was impeccable. The complex design on the tile foyer floor was done with such patience and attention to detail. I receive comments all the time about how beautiful it is and that it looks like a work of art. They offered suggestions for details to enhance the project (at no extra charge) and were mindful of my need to have the project completed by the holiday. It is rare today to find people who take pride in their work and aim to keep their customers happy. Allied Construction is just such a company. I look forward to my next project and will be calling them again very soon.
Description of Work: New roof, provided and installed new wood floor in dining room, replaced tile floor in foyer, opened wall between kitchen and dining room, painted several rooms, removed old bookshelves in home office, built and installed new shelves and cabinetry in office, intalled new storm door.

The representative, a Mr. King Cheek, really listened to us, did a very thorough review of the insurance company assessment and helped explain what we did not understand. He asked excellent questions in return and made us feel very comfortable. He was very helpful with submitting a clear contract, explaining the process and coming in at a fair price and most important, it was all under one company. The roofing came first and the crew that did the work was efficient, highly skilled and removed the old roof, replaced damaged plywood and completed that new roof in one day as promised. They thoroughly cleaned up the property, took care of the disposal of materials and waste. Mr king came and personally checked on the work in progress and when it was complete reviewed the work, the clean up and made sure we were satisfied. The roof looks great, was done right and the attic fan replaced and rewired. Next came the interior work which was mildly delayed by one or two blizzards. The work was done by a skilled crew and finished in the promised time period. The drywall was properly installed, well spackled, primed and painted on schedule with the exception of the blizzard/freezing rain day. The rep came by during the project and after completion. He addressed minor concerns instantly and saw that all expectations were met. At completion he inspected the work and made sure we were satisfied. When we had to have papers filled out by the contractor at completion, for the insurance company and the mortgage company, they did so promptly. I felt that this company really listened to our needs, worked as agreed, did good work, was helpful with the process from beginning to end.It went so well we decided to hire them for some additional work. I highly recommend them and will use them again.
Description of Work: We were seeking a contractor to repair roof damage from super storm Sandy as well as residual damage to the interior from roof leaks. This included drywall removal and replacement, ceilings, priming, painting, roof repair and new shingles. Th most important thing was finding a company that did both roofs and interior. we interviewed several companies and many were good but did not do both. We were almost decided when we received a call from one more contractor-Allied. They asked for an opportunity to at very least assess the job and submit a bid. They were not the lowest nor the highest however Allied presented the best and was extremely attentive at getting to know what was important to us.

Thank You for the Wonderful Review Wanda. It was a true pleasure working with you as well. Hope to hear from you soon for your next project.
We had been contemplating a kitchen renovation for quite some time, but were not able to get strong recommendations from family and friends and we were overwhelmed by the prospect of choosing appliances, cabinetry, lighting, granite, tile and flooring that were coordinated and in our price range. We chose to join Angie's list and were drawn to Allied Construction because of a bathroom special they were running at the time. Our first meeting was with Christian. He was prompt and very helpful in helping us to determine an appropriate design that would limit additional cost. We later met Tom, Allied's owner, who was extremely patient and took the time to explain the renovation process for us in a timeline format that helped us to manage the project. He even took our calls on a weekend when we were picking out appliances! Tom recommended a kitchen store that was a "one stop shop" for our cabinetry, flooring, granite, etc. That helped to alleviate the stress. Once construction began, Tom had different crews for various aspects of the job. They were focused on reducing the impact of construction on the rest of the house (ie used plastic to divide rooms to reduce the dust in other rooms and cleaned up each night). As issues were encountered, Tom and Christian discussed with us, discussed the pros and cons and helped us to make informed decisions on how to proceed. We are so pleased with our kitchen! It turned out better than expected. We are really enjoying our new space and have received many compliments from our friends and family that visited during the holidays. We will turn to Allied for our next projects - renovating 2 bathrooms.
Description of Work: We renovated our kitchen - project included demolition, installation of lighting, flooring, appliances, cabinetry, tile backsplash, sliding door and painting. We also completed several miscellaneous projects - roof repair, installation of an additional sliding door, concrete outside entry way, molding repair.

After over two years since being displaced by superstorm Sandy, Allied and it's project manager, Mr. King Cheek, are the only source of consistent and accurate information we have. Between the insurance company, the state government and New York Rising the paperwork is contradictory, confusing and mind numbing. We have had multiple meetings with Mr. Cheek and he has accompanied us to two meetings with N.Y. Rising where he acted as our agent and helped us to avoid several areas that could have derailed our application process. My point here is this, when someone is supportive, responsive and helpful beyond your expectations then it is logical to expect that the actual work will be of equal quality. In reading the overwhelming number of positive reviews listed here I am reassured that my faith is well placed. As the actual repairs progress I will update this review but I am confident that my future comments will be positive as well.
Description of Work: This is a full service contractor who specializes in bathrooms, kitchens, roofing and complete remodeling but they really are doing much more for us than just the required repairs. Although we are still at the first stage of the repair process I wanted to leave these comments.

The job came out beautiful and I have no complaints about the quality at all. I was somewhat unhappy with communication at points because the manager was the point person and he needed to check things with the owner. A step that was somewhat annoying at times. However, the manager was always responsive and responsible and a very pleasant person to deal with. His name is King. The owner did come over to my house when I had a question to resolve the potential problem. Overall, the price and quality were excellent and I guess any big job like this will entail some stress. I would rate them an A.

Allied remodeled our 5x8 bathroom down to the studs and put in large shower, glass doors, vanity, toilet, mirror, medicine cabinet, tile floor, fixtures, new fan, light switch, outlet and painted. The guys were there every morning and completed job in 6 days. They were courteous and picked up all debris. Aside from a couple of minor items that they are returning to address, we could not be happier with our new bath and I'm enjoying the spacious shower very much. I must mention our Project Manager, King Cheek, who was terrific and made this experience less stressful for me. He made himself available to me whenever I had a question, even if I texted in the evening. I cannot say enough good things about him and his professionalism and desire to please. Thanks King!

The workers were amazing. They came early worked all day, kept apartments clean while renovations were going on. They worked around difficult schedules by plumbers, electricians and tenants. Very polite, clean, professional. They went above and beyond. Because of it being an old house there were a lot of unforeseen complications. They worked together with my plumbers to solve the problems in a great way. I was never left hanging, any issue I had was immediately addressed. The work was perfect as well. We have two beautiful new bathrooms.
Description of Work: Remodeled two bathrooms in century old house.
We spent everything we had and then some to Allied Construction. The work that was done good, looks good, but the bad work has us worried! We're still multiple Plumbing leaks as of 12/1/14. Watch out! If you don't have any experience with remodeling contractors you will get taken advantage of by Allied Construction. Unfortunately, we were clearly taken advantage of and Tom Catsaros capitalized on everything and anything we didn't have experience with. I was overwhelmed at times by these guys. Tom gave us a very small budgeted amount of money in the total price to get supplies for the job. It's not realistic unless you want your bath to look like it was done out of Walmart! We spent over double the allotted amount which was $1200 per bathroom and the price total for each bathroom was $6,300. At first you feel like you can trust Tom because he's very soft spoken, but once the problems start, everything changes. We needed some guidance and advice along the way but it was not genuinely offered and he was never around after day 1. I can understand if things are going smoothly, but we started running into issues with the worker doing the bathrooms and also with Tom's recommended bath & kitchen supplier, Express kitchen & Stone in Lindenhurst. Price started out great, but what Tom conveniently never told us is that NO PLUMBING costs were included in the price. When I told him I would definitely need some plumbing upgrades his response was, and I quote, "Most houses, the plumbing is ok, right?" That was it, never brought it up again and never warned me it was NOT included in the contract price. He also wanted a whopping $350.00 for a pre hung bathroom door installed. Last time I checked the door was part of the BATHROOM! There were so many problems on this job I couldn't possibly list everything here. Would take too long and I'm too stressed and burnt out to do it. Heres most of it. 1. Tom never showed up to check on his crew after the first day. They were here for 2 weeks. His main guy is Chrsitian, who did some nice work in my kitchen and had a few minor errors and a plumbing leak that was not addressed. He did do some really good things though. I wanted this to be a great experience and would love nothing more than to give a total thumbs up, but it was very shaky, including a little bit of an attitude problem with these guys. It was not always professional. I made an enormous amount of trips to Lowe's, Home depot, and Tom's recommended place, Express Kitchen & Stone in Lindenhurst. Tom claims? " I've never gotten a complaint about them" WARNING: If you decide to provide the materials for the job yourself, DON'T go to Express Kitchen & Stone in Lindenhurst! You'll be sorry! They're not easy to deal with! Supplying everything yourself also has it's disadvantages which were capitalized on by Allied Construction! Don't expect them to happily guide u along, they will not! They rushed and confused us at times. Seemed like the more they could get me out of the house, the better they liked it. 2. Allied Construction left the place a mess and used my living room for their trash and damaged the leg on my dining room table. Tom never did a thing to address it. Totally blew me off about it. They left huge chunks of grout & sheetrock on my patio, it's embedded in the concrete and all over my garden hose. It's all over the place! Sawdust piles, trash etc. they left the place a filthy mess! They left grout & sheetrock all over the floor outside my 1st floor bathroom and in front of our entry door too. They never covered the floors properly. Theres grout & sheetrock all over my new vinyl flooring. The carpet on my stairs got destroyed as well. Not covered properly. Tom's main bathroom installer (David) was very shaky! 3. 1st floor Bathroom mirror was hung too low, Light bar was hung too high. Never addressed. The lever used to fill tub for a bath fell off the first night job was allegedly finished. Was later addressed and fixed by Giovanni. Great guy and professional. Unfortunately, he was not part of crew working on our projects. 4. 1st floor bathroom cabinet was installed too low and it was the wrong size. Tom recommended Express Kitchen in Lindenhurst to get my cabinets, tile supplies, etc. They gave me a 12" deep Kitchen wall cab instead of a 7" deep Bath wall cab. Express kitchen in Lindenhurst was it's own separate nightmare! Cabinet had to be removed and the wall had to be fixed and repainted. Should've never been hung in the first place. I was never notified by David and I was home at that time. He just threw it up on the wall! David didn't always ask me where I wanted things installed and he did more than a few things WRONG, including the bathroom door saddle (1st floor). He needed to put an additional row of floor tile to make it fit right but never did it. I had to get an additional vinyl floor saddle to go next to the door saddle. He said I bought the wrong size - He was WRONG, I bought the right size. He didn't insatall the floor tile correctly and blamed me, Looks terrible! To add more insult, he never put anything on the additional saddle to keep it flat to the floor. I had to do it myself with full paint cans. He just slapped some glue on it and threw it down. It was half off when he left for the day. 5. Anything and everything that needed plumbing work done, leaked and leaked and leaked! David could not sweat a pipe right and many of the fittings had to be repeatedly worked on to stop leaks. It took 3 times for him to get it right and in some cases an outside crew (Giovanni) had to come back to address what he couldn't fix. I paid extra for all the plumbing and had to haggle with Tom about everything! He Nickel & Dimed us to DEATH! Language barrier with David was uncomfortable at times as well. After a few days the head crewman Christian, disappeared. I guess he was on other jobs? I was stuck there with David and a younger kid for most of the 2nd week. David convinced us that we didn't need a light bar over the sink mirror in 1st floor bathroom. I paid To $300.00 to have 2 recessed lights put in ceiling. He was WRONG! When you looked in the mirror, it was dark with shadows without the light bar! Then Tom nailed me to have a light bar installed after the fact! ($100.00) David installed it WRONG (too high) 7. Kitchen cabinets ordered from Express Kitchen were AWFUL quality and were returned. Upon returning them, the people at Express Kitchen were highly irritated and kept $80.00 bucks of my money after I dropped about 4 grand on supplies there! Terrible customer service, heavy language barrier, and very poor attitude! I went to Lowes and got decent quality kitchen cabs for the money with no issues. Sure sorry that I didn't do everything through Home Depot or Lowes,. I trusted Tom Katsaros... too late now. 7. Kitchen wall next to side door of house was scratched and there's a huge gouge in the floor moulding after the stove was reinstalled. Never addressed. 8. Floor saddle in kitchen was never sealed down properly after new floor tile was installed. Never addressed. 9. Under cabinet light in Kitchen was screwed in so far that the screws came right through bottom of cabinet. Never addressed. 10. The office where my wife and I keep our important papers was a constant worry when we were not present in the house. There was damage to the door frame that needed repairing but I didn't get it fixed before the job with Allied started (Didn't have the time). I expressed to Tom and Christian that I was not comfortable leaving my home with David and a few others in there. One day when I came back from making a trip to Lowes I saw David leaving the area in the vicinity of my office. I had wedged a piece of cardboard in the door to keep it closed. When I approached the door the cardboard was on the floor, the door was open, and there was a paper hanging out of my file cabinet! NOT COOL! Could the door have popped open by itself? Maybe? Was that paper hanging out of cabinet something I did? It's possible. I can tell you this, David had no business being in that area. I had the cabinet locked but maybe it was picked? When I explained all this to Tom in an email he claims he never received it. I sent it twice and he still denies receiving it! Tom claims that he's never had an issue or complaint before. I want there to be a record of my concern because if my identity gets stolen over next few months or so, I know where to look. David gave us the creeps! Right in the middle of this job, my dad had a massive seizure. He's 88 years old and very sick. I had no choice but to leave my home during this job. Very uncomfortable feeling. I was assured by Christian and Tom that I had nothing to worry about. Lets see what happens??? 11. 2nd floor bathroom: Some of the wall tiles were not installed properly (crooked) and the caulking around bathroom window was poorly done. Moulding around bathroom window is coming off and calking melts like cheese when u take a shower. Numerous leaks had to be addressed several times with the plumbing. This begs the question? How solid were the pipes inside the walls redone? If they were not sweated properly we will have massive damage in a short time. We're nervous about it! Same thing with 1st floor bath and kitchen plumbing. 12. Also, David's car was leaking oil heavily and it left giant stains all over the street in front of my house and my neighbors house. Looks terrible! 13. This is not everything but most of it. After numerous complaints to Tom about the shoddy work, he acted as if he were doing us a big favor to send men from other crews back to address >SOME< but not all of the issues. He told me "Everyone makes mistakes" over and over again. kept saying it! In the end, my response to that is this? YOUR RIGHT, Everyone DOES make mistakes! Hiring you was the biggest MISTAKE I've ever made in my life! A $20,000 dollar one!

I could not be any happier! The bathroom is beautiful! I had a vision of what I wanted my bathroom to be and it came out exactly how I envisioned it . My experience with Allied did not disappoint me at all. First, the contact person, King Cheek, was an awesome person to work with. He is honest, knowledgable, hard working and most of all available. Whenever I had a question or concern, I could call King and he would answer his phone immediately or text me right back even if he was in a meeting. He was there every step of the way. As for the crew, Giovanni and Joaquin, they were great!. They were here on time, worked a full day, listened to my ideas, shared their ideas and did exquisite work. The tile job and molding is beautiful! Since I am such a perfectionist, at the end of the job, I went into the bathroom and wrote a small list of things that needed to be done for it to be perfect...recess light not sitting in can evenly, toilet water feed not at 90 degree angle out from the wall, electrical outlet moved up 1/2 inch.....all these minor details that would have bothered my keen eye were fixed without hesitation and brought my bathroom up to perfection. I would highly recommend this company. The only con was that they scratched the outside of my wooden bathroom door. They promise to repair it or replace it and I believe them. I have been unavailable for them to come and do the job since i have been sick. I have no doubt they will make it right. Thanks, King, Giovanni and Joaquin!
Description of Work: Allied Construction did a total bathroom remodel.
Would hire them for any other project without hesitation!! The only thing we had to do was buy the things we needed for our renovations .
Description of Work: Allied construction added 2 baths in our home. A full bath in the basement & a 1/2 bath in our Master bedroom. They also installed fire-proof doors in our basement where the boiler room is. In case of a fire we have 1& 1/2 hrs to get out to safety! The team did a fantastic job! TOM the owner stopped in everyday to check progress. Ricardo was phenomenal! He work nonstop all day long. The plumbers were also great. All in all price wise and work wise I would hire them in a heartbeat. Thanks to all you guys!!!

Everything was good. They did what they said they would do. They inspected the roof and saw a couple of spots that needed attention, so they took care of it.
Description of Work: I purchased a big deal for $139 for a Roof Maintenance Package.

My experience with Allied was wonderful!!! I contracted with Tom, the contractor, who came to my home, sat down with me and discussed all my options, and drew up a contract that explicitly outlined the work. Tom was great!!! Any time I had to contact Tom, he picked up on the first ring and was patient and helpful. Christian, the foreman for the job, and his crew were also wonderful!!! They came every day on time and worked hard all day and finished the job in a very timely manner. Christian and his crew were meticulous in all aspects of the job including the clean up of the job site. Christian was also very helpful in keeping me informed about all aspects of the job as it progressed and even assisted me in trouble-shooting and making design decisions. The bathroom turned out gorgeous!!! I have used other contractors in the past and most of the time the experiences were awful. My experience with Tom and his crew renewed my faith and made me realize how beautiful my home could be!!! I would definitely recommend Tom and his company for any project, and plan to use him in the future. In fact, I plan to call him soon for my next project and plan to request to work with Christian again!!!
Description of Work: I contracted Allied to renovate a half bathroom. They removed the sheetrock on the walls and put up new sheetrock walls, crown, base, chair molding, and installed bead board on the walls. They reinstalled my sink and toilet, hung pictures and chochkies, put in a new ceiling fan and overhead light, installed a new tile floor, changed out the outlet and light switch, and painted the bathroom.

I had called 3 contractors to meet me at my parent's home to get estimates to update the bathroom and kitchen. One contractor forgot; one contractor claimed I never set the date. Only Allied Construction came and was punctual. After meeting Tony, there wasn't anyone else we wanted to do the job. We received a very fair estimate from Tony and he even gave us names of places to order cabinets and granite which were very, very reasonable compared to other places we had checked. Unfortunately, due to family issues, we had to postpone the work for at least one year. However, when we move forward, Tony is the guy.
Description of Work: We decided not to move forward at this time.
Allied is amazing! It went great! Tom (owner) and Cristian (foreman) were fantastic to work with. We added on to the contract during the construction and Tom was more than happy to make the changes. He also didn't 'nickel and dime" me for the amendments. Cristian and his men worked really hard and were true professionals. If Cristian makes a recommendation...just do it...you'll be better off for it. Our new bathroom and new kitchen look magazine worthy! Per my wife "It's everything I wanted, and more." They showed up promptly at 7:15 every day and worked hard all day. The newly finished side of my basement looks great too. During the renovation of the main bathroom, my family and I used the upstairs one. And one night, my daughter stepped on the soap dish and if fell right out, exposing a rotted wall in the shower. They totally gutted the shower area and re-tiled everything, making it better than new. They didn't even skip a beat. These guys are great and all work was done in exactly 3 weeks (even with the changes and the fixing of the 1/2 bathroom upstairs). Highly recommended!!!
Description of Work: Allied Construction Corp knocked down a wall, gutted and installed 1.5 bathrooms and a full kitchen. They also finished 1/2 my basement. I purchased all cabinets, granite counter tops, tile & grout, bath/kitchen fixtures, tub, vanity, and medicine cabinet separately. They installed everything. Completed in exactly 3 weeks.

Spent many months going back and forth with Tom over all costs involved for bathroom, how much extra tiling and plumbing work would be, etc. He was patient and worked hard to meet our needs. Christian was the main guy who did the work. He did a great job with a difficult project. As issues came up, he worked with me to figure out the options and resolve them. The end result is that the bathroom looks gorgeous. He even came back a few weeks later to install the mirror and towel bar for the bathroom, since when he finished the bathroom, we discovered the mirror had arrived broken and I had to order another one, and I was also unsure of the towel bar I wanted to use. Great job- would definitely recommend.
Description of Work: Renovated bathroom from top to bottom. Gutted bathroom, extended it by a couple of feet and totally redid it, including installing new tile, plumbing and fixtures.
