Mike gave us a very detailed invoice that listed exactly what they were going to do. He walked us through different scenarios that could unfold in the basement if we didn't heed his advice. We were somewhat apprehensive about the extent of what he thought was happening but when they stripped our floors and the sheetrock--we were astounded. He was 100% correct on everything he had told us. The crew took care of our basement like it was their own house. Mike advised us on every single thing that we needed to do because the remediation involved a lot of work. He gave us the best advice possible and we are grateful that we found him. Michael is the best. This is the second time we've had to use his services and he is a pleasure to work with and does an amazing job. He finished the job in about a half day, and took every precaution to not only get rid of all the mold but also be extremely clean while doing it. He takes the time to lay down sheets where his men will be walking in and out of the house and cleans everything at the end, including mopping the floors. When he leaves you will not even know he was there. He is honest, fair, and reliable. Not to mention he is an EXPERT at his craft. Seriously, he pretty much has a Phd in mold. He will explain everything to you and allow you to understand what is going on and what he can and can't do. I could not give a stronger recommendation to use his services.

We could not be more pleased with Mike and his team. We originally had Mike come in to look at possible mold in the attic. He was able to confirm it was mold and determine the cause we then had the mold removal done simultaneously with a roof replacement. Mike spoke to our roofer to review what he was doing and was able to stage the job as to not interfere with the roof replacement. Mike was on site during the entire process and was able to recommend additional things that needed to be done to improve the circulation in the attic so we would not get mold again. If it were not for him we would have had a brand new roof with the same circulation problems, eventually leading to mold again. Additionally he provided air purifiers to run in the house as the work was getting done and for the following couple of days. We were extremely satisfied with his knowledge and professionalism. A couple of months later our basement flooded and we called him again, he arrived in under an hour to test for moisture and provide equipment to assist in drying out the basement and industrial dehumidifies to run. He said we would need to run all of the equipment for a couple of days, and called the following day to see how it was going. Again other then his equipment he provided advice as to what we should do to minimize damage from the flood. We would use him again (although we hope not to have to) and would recommend without hesitation.

I contacted Mike to perform an inspection on a home recently inherited from a 95-year old relative. The house has a strong ordor or fuel oil and visible mold on the walls. Mike did a quick walk-through, assessment and confirmed my suspicions - major remediation would be required to bring the home up to acceptable standards. He felt that based on his experience, a complete home inspection was not warranted as the most serious problems were readily apparent. He spent a great deal of time explaining in detail what the problems were, what would be required to remediate and potential outcomes. He was extremely generous with his time and advice. Mike could have gone throught the motions of doing a home inspection and charging $500 but did not. Should I decide to go ahead with remediation vs. sell, Mike willd definitely get the job and I feel confident the work will be professional.

Michael Shain and his crew are true professionals. I had a huge mold problem in my basement and a decent size one in master bedroom. Michael put me at ease, did what he promised and remedied the problem! Basement was fully and professionally gutted and part of bedroom was remediated as well. After the tests Michael ground down the cement in places and treated in thoroughly.He also treated the mold inside the wall.Michael then placed heating equipment and fans.The whole process only took a few days.What a difference,there was no longer any odor and now my house was safe to live in. I had the flooring company finish their work.I couldn't be happier .Michael not only very professional but a true gentleman.Becuse he has a very friendly demeanor,he took a very bad situation and made us feel comfortable.I have already recommended his company to a friend and he also feels confident after meeting Michael.

Michael called back right away, we went over a few times for the an air quality test. He asked a lot of questions and it was determined that his services were not needed. But he did give us a lot of tips to help improve our situation during the allergy season. Stand up guy. He could have came and tested and took money form us. If I ever had a problem I would call him right away.

Michael was extremely responsive and allowed me to quickly schedule an appointment. My realtors worked with me on my behalf and Michael allowed them at my request to schedule an appointment with them. The testing was performed that week and within a couple of days, we had the tests back. Luckily, the tests revealed no mold so I did not need NYIAQ to perform any additional services. I know some companies would probably try to sell additional services, but Michael did not. He also suggested ways to continue to keep mold out of the basement so that I would continue to not need his services in the future. I am always looking for high quality, reasonably priced, trustworthy vendors and I would highly recommend Michael to anyone in need of his services.

LOOK NO FURTHER! These guys are the real deal. I had them perform two rounds of testing (before and after mold remediation) in addition to performing the mold remediation. Michael Shain is a very professional and knowledgeable individual who takes the time to explain the entire process and then some. He even offered to critique any other protocols from other remediation companies to make sure the proper protocol was being implemented and did not charge me for this (I was not going to use him for the remediation). I took him up on this and eventually ended up using his services for the remediation. He was very prompt with getting back to me with any questions I had (which there were many of) and providing any necessary documents. The work entailed tearing down an entire wall and sections of wall/ceiling. Michael was there during the demolition and took pictures as to the findings behind my wall which he later shared with me. His crew was very thorough. I was specifically impressed with how they contained the necessary areas. I stuck around for this because I was curious. The work was completed the same day and dehumidifiers and air scrubbers were left behind and ran for an additional 2 days. The crew cleaned up after the demolition (I did not find any Sheetrock on my carpet). I was completely satisfied throughout the entire process and highly recommend this outfit.

I did not get the work done from him as I am proposing him to be the best to my home buyer and give them credit. But even after knowing that it is not sure shot business for him(as home buyer might use different service), Mr. Michael was displaying integrity in advising me, answering questions, giving competitive quote etc. For my future projects, I will definitely use him.

Michael arrived with his crew and immediately set to work. As I indicated it took threedays to complete .Day one was spent ripping all the panelling out and washing everything with amoldicide to kill the mold .Day two was spent painting and day three doing installation of dehumidifier. Michael and his crew were knowledgeable, professional, and courteous as well as doing immaculate work with a complete cleanup at works end.

I found NY Indoor Air Quality on Angies List. They had a lot of great reviews so I went to the website. I used the form on the contact page and asked about providing an estimate for removing the smell in my bedroom after having the floor refinished. Michael called a few hours later and provided me the same advice on the phone that he would have provided if we had actually scheduled an appointment for him to come out to our house. A few hours later he followed up with 2 emails sharing links to air purifiers. I appreciate Michael's willingness to share his knowledge and advice without cost.

Mike was the best. Mold is now gone. He educates you throughout the entire process and clearly gives you the option to perform some work yourself if you choose and are up to it. He came over 2 times before performing the work and did not try to sell me, he just gave me the facts. Since moving into my home in June he is the best contractor/vendor I have worked with. Mr. Michael Shain came to inspect my crawl space after 15 inches of rain poured down on my town and about an inch of water entered my basement. This man as wonderful, professional and honest. I had asked for air samples and he told me they were unnecessary because it was obvious that there was mold in my crawl space. He told me that if no one in the home was having breathing problems, I should leave it all alone. Michael could have talked me into a very expensive job but his honesty was amazing. He didn't even charge me for a house call. Who does that? This is the man I would call for any future work.

We were extremely pleased with New York Indoor Air Quality Solutions. Michael Shain, owner was professional and knowledgeable. He worked along with his crew to remove mold from our finished basement. Communication was great! Mr. Shain thoroughly explained the mold removal procedure and patiently answered questions. He also explained the EPA Guidelines for mold removal and responded to questions e-mailed. Mr. Shain and his crew arrived on time and demonstrated a pleasant attitude. They carefully inspected and removed items with mold from the basement prior to the mold remediation. Some sheetrock had to be removed. However, the basement was left clean. You could not tell that mold removal had taken place. The cost was $2,411.34. For the amount of work, the cost seemed reasonable. We highly recommend NY Indoor Air Quality Solutions and would definitely use them again. They did an excellent job.

Mike was punctual and professional. He informed us immediately that we didn't have mold but had termites. When asked for an exterminator recommendation he provided us with a reference to a quality company.

First go round I did not use Angie's List to get my first estimate on mold assessment/analysis. I did my homework looking up a company who does this type of assessment using BBB, Internet checks and even referrals. All seemed to check out and to the tune of $1300 I got an analysis and a recommendation and a estimates for remediation which gave me cause for concern and made me think to give Angie's List a try. I picked a highly rated company from her list and Wow! I can't say enough things about my interactions, communications, advise, job results that could express my satisfaction with Mike's New York Indoor Air Quality Solutions. First, he did not charge for what was close to 2 hours of his time AND advise. He walked the whole house assessing and advising. Check my crawl space. I wanted 4 air area samples tested but he said I did not need that and that 3 was all I needed. The charge was minimal and at his cost. His air sample analysis charge was less than 1/4 of my first company's charge. He was FULL of great advise, recommendation and feedback. He was not high pressure in any sense of the word. Very easy to talk to and listened and advised accordingly. His credentials and details in the process of remediation gave me a great sense of comfort. and to boot his estimate was less than ANY of aforementioned at the top. The results were even better. When he said he does this process for hospitals, he was not kidding. In addition, to having mold remediation in the crawl space I had to have the garage ceiling done. When I asked what I needed to move to clean out, he said food items and access to the ceiling. I did a slight clean out but left a lot of things in the garage and thought what the heck. He said no worries I will cover it and clean up our mess. All I can say is I could have eaten off the floor that garage when he was done. Unbelievable! The results here and in the crawl were spectacular. You want someone for what is probably one of the most critical to your health and hazardous jobs around or advise on what to do or you want to get what you paid for or you want to feel 100% safe and satisfied after the job is done - look no further than this man. No wonder he is highly rated on this site. If Mike needs a referral he has my number. DONE.
