Mr. Pi responded promptly to our initial inquiry. He collected a $500 retainer and promised to deliver the drawings for our approval within approximately one week. The deadline passed but no drawings were delivered. When we inquired he said he needed more time and would deliver them in three days. The second deadline passed, no drawings were delivered. We contacted him again and this time he said he would deliver them in 2 days. The third deadline passed, and again no drawings were delivered. Mr. Pi did not respond to numerous phone calls and emails over the next couple of weeks. When we finally heard from him he said he had been out of the country on a family emergency. He apologized and said he would return the retainer if we did not want to proceed. We informed him that we had hired another architect and wanted our retainer returned. We waited a couple of weeks but heard nothing from Mr. Pi. We sent a follow up email requesting the return of the retainer. Mr. Pi has not replied to the email. To date we have not received the retainer and are now filing a complaint in small claims court.
