I do not recommend them; they scammed me out of $444.34 in repairs that my furnace didn't need or work. They didn't fix anything, and when I brought this to their attention, they said I needed a new furnace after they scammed me. I got a second opinion, and the issue was fixed, and I didn't need a new furnace. I explained this experience in a detailed review on their Facebook page and Google. It's under Victor Wilson. Instead of calling me to address this situation professionally, they blocked me on their Facebook page and avoided my calls. Please don't use them. They are scam artist.
Response from TACONIC HEATING & COOLING CORP

"When writing a review [Member Name Removed] from 150 Underhill Lane, Peekskill should have all the facts on the review. They have a 23 year old furnace which has never had a tune up by Taconic in the 4 years we have serviced them. We found the system overheating causing the limits to trip the furnace. After multiple trips its recommended to replace the limits so they don't fail which is the only charge that they paid for. When we returned 2 times after the initial call they weren't charged and we would have worked with them to find a solution but they called another company and said it was fixed. But never responded to an email asking to give more detail on what was found. Yes we recommended a new unit but we never insisted that we could not return to try to find the cause of the overheating. This unit has never had a tune up in the 4 years we have serviced them and the only calls are for 6 no heat calls over the 4 years. A system with this many issues I believe should have a recommendation for replacement. But in no way did we insist their was no solution to their problem. If any customers have any questions I would be happy to show them the extent of our combustion testing and notes we have on this system. Scamming would be not trying to help a customer which in no way did we do here!"

Taconic Heating & Cooling was one of 3 companies I had requested quotes from for the replacement of my A/C and heating system in 2013.  They were very professional and were always on time with their appointments.  The primary reason for choosing this company was their detailed knowledge of the 'unique" zoning system which had been installed in my house in 1971, at the time it was built.  No other contractor understood this system, and the folks at Taconic were able to advise me on how the new system zoning would compare.  They also resolved some issues with insufficient airflow, and installed a direct-vent (two-pipe) exhaust system for the condensing furnace. Their price was competitive, and the quality of work was excellent.
I've had no troubles at all with this system since its installation 2 years ago.  The new unit makes the house quite comfortable, and the savings I experience with the new 16 SEER air conditioning is nothing short of remarkable.  My electric bills for cooling have dropped more than 50%.  I would definitely recommend Taconic Heating & Cooling to my neighbors and friends.

Taconic did a great job coming in and installing this system in just 2 days time. Team showed up early around 7:30am and got right to work. Each member of the team was very polite, listened to my questions and concerns and worked well together throughout the project. Todd was the project supervisor/coordinator who did a nice job doing the pre-work with me and also took point in getting the permits squared away. He also did a nice job following up each day to make sure everything was going according to plan and confirming that the permits were approved when done.  A very turnkey operation!
I also have to give kudo's to the electrician they use, Andy (from ACE Electric). He was great to work with and the electrical inspector spoke highly of his work when he came for final inspection.
Price was competitive with the 2 other bids I got from other Angies List "A" rated contractors. I also have to give an "A" for their responsiveness to any email I sent or coming over the following day for a meeting or followup on any open items I had.

Having a prepaid service plan proved to be an expensive proposition with discounted prices for extras (discounted from madly expensive down to slightly/reasonably expensive). The emergency service was great (used them a couple of times), they always came prepared, with parts in the van and acted in a very professional and down to business type of manner. The service part, however, was expensive and saved nothing (motor failed 3 weeks after seasonal inspection and what could have been a planned replacement, became emergency repair with twice the price). When the time came to projects and improvements, prices were crazy and response time terrible to none. I would use them for emergency coverage, if they had such option, but not for preventive maintenance progra as I think they did not do a superb job at it.

"[removed member name], we’re sorry that you did not like the price range you were given to fix the problem, as we could not properly diagnose the problem without sending a tech to look at your unit. We offered to do so, but since you declined to pay for the previous service call that was not covered by your warranty, you decided against incurring the fee. We’d have been more than happy to help address the issue and offer the best price we could. If you have any further questions about this, please call us at (914) 734-9300. We stand by our work and our service, and we hope that you’ll consider us again for your future needs."

All installation and service people were timely and very careful and efficient as they replaced a twenty plus year old system with a new up to date air conditioner, air exchanger and control unit, as well as the cleaning of all ducts. As well as installing new disconnect switching service. Once work was completed, technicians cleaned up very well and carefully explained the use and care of the new system. During the initial visit for an estimate Frank went over in detail about what I had and what they proposed to replace it with and the improvement of the newer unit's energy efficiency. The proposed estimate was complete and was the exact amount at the completion of installation - No Surprises - Thank you Taconic for a very confortable summer.

The cause of the problem was burned out capacitor. The technician replaces the part, defrosted the evaporator coil a d recharges the coolant levels for the unit, all on the weekend day that they were called.

The tech rep did not have answers for me and said he would contact his Fujitsu distributor for information. He only told me that there had been no service on the unit in 6 years. I have been cleaning the units as per the manuals for the past 6 years, but it appears the units I have need to be completely disassembled every year or two, I only found this out by contacting another HVAC company in the area and the manufacturer who immediately sent me the manual for disassembly via email. A job that requires a trained service tech by the way.
I am still waiting to hear back from Taconic.
Calls during the day yesterday and emails went un-returned and all I was simply looking for was information. I realize that in the middle of a heat wave actually getting a service call would be tough.
I simply wanted to know if these units could be repaired/cleaned completely or would they have to be replaced.
As it turns out via calls to other service providers, and the manufacturer the product I have is no longer available and I am going to either have to find a way to clean these units or put in a new system.
I was hoping to hear from Taconic Heating and Cooling to help me make my decision, but they don't appear to be responsive to my requests for assistance. As such I have spent hours doing my own research and will find another provider going forward for my HVAC needs.
One last thing, Taconic installed a new furnace in my house and it never really worked the way it should, still does not. My oil company, BURKE has been out to look at the furnace a few times and a number of their technicians have mentioned that the furnace is the wrong size for the home and that my issues with hot water supply are directly related. Strike two.
Response from TACONIC HEATING & COOLING CORP

"The only information that we have to work with is an installation date of 7/27/2007 and a warranty call on 7/18/2008. We had not heard from him for five (5) years. We offered to help by setting up service technician but were denied. He stated that he had a manual and had been servicing his system on his own and goes on to say that he spoke to another HVAC company and the manufacturer who sent him another manual. He also states that he has called us in the middle of a heat wave and this is probably the reason we did not spend a lot of phone time with him. At the end, he states that we had installed a furnace that never worked properly. We had installed a boiler not a furnace in 2008 and never had a complaint or heard from him. We are confused by his complaint."

After reading the reviews on here at Angies list , I called Taconic Heat and A/C then Bell heat and A/C. Taconic cam out the same day. Bell the next day. Yes it was the regular guys that you read on here ,Frank Jr. and Leon . Both where Professional with Leon being a bit more friendly and at the time seemed a bit more knowledgeable .. When the proposals came they were both close but Taconic was about $300 cheaper .. There was talk back and forth as to what service they would each provide . A fellow by the name of Todd from Taconic came over to do some final measuring and assured the job would go smooth. With that when went with Taconic. The date was set for the install , and it all went as planned , the first set of guys showed up on time 8:00 am , and work their a**** off without stopping for lunch.... They finished their part of the job about 3:30 . A second guys came over about 4:15 to flush the lines and make sure there is no leak in the lines and connect the power. He was done about 6:00 P.M . A/C has been on and no problems.. One thought was no one from the company called after or as of yet to make sure everything went well and as promised .

At the beginning of the process, while we were trying to get several estimates, Taconic got back to us quickly and set up an appointment to visit our home. The person who came to estimate was polite and efficient. He took the time to sit down with my husband and explain how the system worked. On a second visit from Taconic, Todd came to measure everything and explained where each vent would go, both upstairs and downstairs. He also drew out a detailed diagram for the installers to follow. On May 7, the installers (Mike and Barry) came. They too were polite, hard working and efficient. After each day's work, they thoroughly cleaned up after themselves so well, that you would not have known that there were workmen in the house. After they completed their installation, the electricians came to do the wiring. They too were polite and worked without disrupting us our household. The only thing left is the actual hook up, and we expect that to be done shortly. All in all, we have had a very positive experience with Taconic.

Taconic heating folks were very professional and did a great job. They also gave us a fair price, and treated us well. I have also used them before for replacing our heating system, and we had a very good experience with them. They are knowledgeable, helpful and courteous, and don't try to rip you off as many other contractors in this business seem to do.

Had another company come in to do a tune up on my furnace.Furnace was condemned. We were leaving for a cruise that friday after Thanksgiving..I received an immediate estimate from the other company. My sister which lives near me had just replaced her HVAC system and actually referred Taconic. So I called them Sunday and they got back to me the following day.Time was limited due to the Holiday on thursday and the vacation starting friday.Gentleman from Taconic came on Tuesday . Due to Holiday could not get the estimate to me before we left so I had my sister handle it being she had a relationship .I was quoted Amana equipment and accepted. They worked with me on the payments and the installation was prompt and clean. They installed Goodman equipment..
Response from TACONIC HEATING & COOLING CORP

"I received call on Monday, returned call and set appointment for 7:30am Tuesday sent estimate a 9:25am Customer went away without awarding the job and his sister was negotiating the price while he was away. Once we agreed and had a signed contract the installation was scheduled for the first day convenient for the homeowner. The equipment installed is Amana Distinctions, the parent company is Goodman manufacturing and and appears on all of the equipment."

The estimate was a fair number. The layout off the units were done professionally.
The installation was done by pros.
The start up of the system went, well until a manufactured part was defective
I watched and listened as the techs got the needed support from the manufacturer.
The parts replacements went well, and the knowledge of the technician, was top notch.
I have been enjoying the system all summer long, and wish i would have done it 5 years ago when I first looked into it.

My central A/C system shut down on the hottest day of the summer and I was concerned that I would require a new compressor. I needed someone to come in the early evening after I returned home from work. After calls to several other companies, Taconic was the only company that could send someone out that same evening. Dave was fantastic - he explained everything he did and he managed to fix the problem that was created by another HVAC company that had done my annual service earlier in the summer. The house cooled down quickly and what could have been a huge problem became something that was relatively inexpensive to repair. Thanks, Taconic HVAC!
