Exercise extreme caution.  Owner Stewart has explosive bad temper.  Also, he and his brother illegally trespassed and also attempted to bully me (woman home alone).     At end of work day, they demanded payment.  I indicated numerous problems with the work and a heated argument ensued.   I advised them I was done talking to them and asked them to leave, and retreated into garage.  Both followed me into garage, refused to leave despite my repeated statements that they were TRESPASSING, and continued to DEMAND PAYMENT.   I paid them to get them out of our lives.   POLICE HAD TO POST CAR IN FRONT OF OUR HOUSE.  After we sent photos of leaking into garage, Owner Stewart insisted on coming to house, when no responsible adults were home, to prove that there was no problems and insisted he would get babysitter to help him with access.  He repeatedly refused to reschedule time and would not accept no.  Police had to post a car in front of our house and to warn him to stay away from us.  We now have to wet vac several inches of water that leak all the way into middle of garage whenever it rains even a little heavy (much worse leaking than before).   I met them for first time when they showed up ready to work. I relied on Angies List good reviews and hired them even though I would not be home.  All other companies advised that gravel would need to be removed to level driveway properly.  T. Stewart paved over what was there – creating a driveway that is approx.. 3 inches higher than surrounding land and garage floor.   We can no longer roll things out of garage; all have to be lifted over the edge – garbage cans, heavy snow blower, bicycles.  Pavers look terrible and are tripping hazards, as they were crookedly wedged along lip of driveway to hold taller asphalt in place.  Crew was polite, but entered garage illegally and used tools/property w/o permission, breaking a new garden tool.   Heavy and light debris left on our and neighbor’s property.  Edges of driveway are crooked and sloppy in many places; they never sought my final approval of lines before paving, as they promised.

When I stopped the work there was a lot of doubletalk not admitting that that’s how the conversation was started and the only reason I was interested. Their responses were ā€œhow does the job look?ā€ it’s truly not how to evaluate this. It’s how it lasts and they only give you a year warranty when in fact they claim it’ll last for 20 years. Because I didn’t get what I wanted I requested a two year warranty and it was refused. Reading these reviews now I realized that these guys are fast talkers minimal service and I just hope the problems Emerge within a year or so that they will be good to their word.

I was concerned when they didnt pull up the all of the old driveway since I had heard stories of driveways cracking, Driveway looked beautiful when they got done. Here I am 5 years out, a fairly large crack appeared last year which is now about 8 ft long. I was hoping to get 20m or 30 years out of this. NOT. This is why I don't write reviews right after work gets done and verything looks nice.

Two brothers showed up at our door at 7:30 one morning saying they could repave our driveway (it was in pretty bad shape). They said they could do it that day for $2,200. My husband told them he could give them half up front and a check that would be cashed when he let them know we had the funds in our account - we had our mortgage due the same week. They said no problem, had their guys do the work, and came back at the end of the day to collect the money. We gave them half the money and a check for the other half - post-dated for a later date. They assured my husband they would not cash the check until he gave them permission to do so. Well, they went ahead and cashed the check on the day our mortgage was due and caused us to go into overdraft in our account. We did not give them permission to cash the check and they did it anyway. My advice: just know what you are getting into before you agree to anything. If you don't have the money right then, do not give them a post-dated check to be cashed later - they will cash it when they want to. Buyer beware The paving job was OK. They paved over what was there and straightened out a few things. The pitch (where the water runs off the driveway so there are no puddles on the driveway) is not right, but there is nothing we can do about that.
Response from T Stewart Paving

"Sorry that happened [Member Name Removed] it was a mistake on our end we would never do that on purpose because we would not want the check to bounce if you ever need anything give us a call thanks ."

I called and they came back explained what they were going to do etc. etc. I agreed to do the work. They finished in hours, which I thought was a rushed job. I said I didn't see you lay any stones or tear up the old driveway as promised, I said you should lower the price, his response was I gave you more asphalt therefore price is the same.Even though his promise was to remove existing pavement. A few days later I noticed the driveway looked terrible, there were large asphalt rocks very visible throughout the entire driveway, that were obviously going to break apart. They used a bad grade of asphalt and I repeatedly called and explained my displeasure. He was very nasty and arrogant the one time he came back to my house only because he was still in our town.I told him this driveway is going to start coming apart, his response was "oh it's gonna come apart". I've since called him every week for months, he answered once only because I used a different phone number that time, he doesn't answer my number. He said I have to have the driveway sealed and then it would be ok, call me after it's sealed. Well I spent another $300 for sealing and it's no better, it's worse and coming apart. I talked with his other customers and they have the same problems. There are at least 7 of us with this low grade and large rock asphalt and shoddy work, one of them circled all the spots on their driveway to show him. He promised them he'd be back to them in Sept to take care of it, so I was waiting for that to happen since we're close to each other and it has not. He's been lying and putting us off after taking our hard earned money. I paid $2,900.00 plus another $300 for sealing. I also wrote the check to them To T. Stewart Paving, but he said no Re-write it just to Tom Stewart. There's a picture attached, which is basically 90% of what my driveway looks like.

They arrived promptly and began removing the existing driveway. The workers then went about leveling the new driveway to ensure drainage. They made certain that areas which had sunk in the original driveway received proper attention to ensure that the problem would not happen again.

T. Stewart Paving LLC was one of three contractors we contacted before deciding to go with them. They were quick to complete the job, helpful in providing us answers to our questions, excellent clean up, and very professional overall. I am very satisfied with the final outcome. The driveway turned out to be a bit larger than the one it replaced, but it does fit the entrance to my garage correctly, and we have received several positive comments about the look and finish of the pavement. They do seem to really know their stuff. I will be looking to them in the future as I would like to pave the common access road leading up to my driveway next. Thank you for a great job!

Contacted provider and spoke with George.  He said he and his brother-in-law Tom are in business together.  They came to my house the same day and gave me an estimate.  Initially it was $3800 to put in a new driveway which consisted of ripping out two concrete strips.  Currently there is a 10' apron.  We want to enlarge the width of the driveway to 20'.  We contracted for 20'.  They said if we committed they could start the job tomorrow and could do it for $3500.  They had their equipment in the area and would park it in our driveway overnight and start first thing in the morning.  We agreed.
They arrived first thing in the morning with their crew and started digging up the old driveway.  I went outside and noticed their markers were off.  They were a few feet shy of 20'.  I spoke to Tom and said that was not 20' and that was not what we had discussed yesterday.  He said ok and moved it over a foot.  I said that still is not 20'.  I asked him to get a tape measure to mark off 20' and he walked it off with his feet and said it was 20'.  I said it wasn't and and again asked why this was a problem.  George then came over and I said this is not what I contracted for and they still wouldn't measure it.  They moved it over a few more inches.  I told them it needed to be exact because of township requirements.  I got p***** off and walked away and went to look for my own tape measure.  When I came back out Tom had move it over more and said it is now at 21'.  I said this is ridiculous.  I can't have 21'.  I can only have 20'.  George then said don't speak to him like he is in kindergarten.  At that point I had enough.  I said excuse me, I am not speaking to you like that.  You are trying to take advantage of me.  We are done here.  Pack up your equipment and go.
Then the "Listen Sweetie" stuff started, "we aren't making any money off this job anyway, and try and get someone to come and do it for our price, etc, etc etc?.  They were very rude and nasty.  They told me I changed the location of the driveway four times.  20' is 20'.  They refused to get a tape measure.  They were trying to undercut the job and use less material to make more money on it.  I was not born yesterday.  My husband was not home and they were trying to take advantage of that.
Do not use T Stewart Paving or Gordon Paving.  They go by both names.  I am left with a torn up driveway but I will not be spoken to that way or taken advantage of.

6/23/2014 In response to Provider's Response?.Tom Stewart-I am well aware of who you are.  I mentioned you by name in the above post.  We have met in person twice at my house.  You have an Irish accent and work with your brother-in-law George Gordon.  I have the right contractor.  DO NOT accuse me of posting a false review.  After you left your workers came back and stated they heard everything that took place and were told to measure out 18' for the driveway.  They said they do driveways on the side and could come back on do mine on the weekend.  You did try and cheat me.  I stand by my review.
Response from T Stewart Paving

"Please provide proof with a signed contract u must have the wrong contractor my name is tom stewart I have not done or was contracted to do any work for this property . I am very upset u have posted this false review please provide a work order ASAP"
