About us
Description Rodney Robledo began a career in hair and makeup artistry in 2001 when he was signed with a Fashion Agency in Miami, Florida. Prior to this opportunity, Rodney had established himself as a successful photographer for editorial models. Moving out from behind the camera lens, Rodney knew this was the career that he had always imagined: a career where he could practice his passion and creative talent on a daily basis with interesting people and ideas. His work is founded on the belief that beauty begins with confidence and Rodney thrives off the ability to assist people in feeling and looking beautiful each and every day. His refined eye for shadows and highlights make him a great colorist. By creating his own color formulas for each of his clients, you will never see someone else with the same color. His precise haircutting techniques are crafted from various fashion stylists and have contributed to numerous opportunities evident in his portfolio. A few notable stylists include: Oribe Canales - Celebrity Hairstylist, Alejandro Jimenez - Victoria Secret Angels Hairstylist, Howard McLaren - Vice president of Bumble and Bumble, Ian Michael Black - North America Color Director of Aveda, Van Michael - Editorial Fashion Stylist and Ana Karzis - Senior Creative Color Director of Aveda. "Thank you [Member Name Removed] for the review. I am very sorry you feel this way about your experience. It seems that ONLY those clients that visit the salon once year (your appointment was July 2015) are the ones who complains. With many years in this industry, I have learned that this clients do not like to spend money in their hair because their only style will be a pony tail and they are all looking for any type of discount. For 3 years in a row my salon has been awarded with the prestigious Angie’s List Award! This is given to businesses with excellent customer service and professionalism. You can read all the positives reviews of clients expressing how happy they are with their hair, customer service and myself. If you were not satisfied the first time, why insisting on coming back? When I have a bad experience with a business I make sure that is my last time going there and I don’t even think on giving them a second chance. The reason of your complain is that you don’t want to pay the full price but want to keep coming back for a great haircut. On May 3rd, 2016 you sent me this email “I had an appointment last July, and I made a point of liking the Facebook page right after. However, when I logged in today to book a new appointment, my account shows no points. Was I not ever credited the 50 points for "liking" the FB page? I want to confirm this before I write the review. I'd like to be use the 10% off for the online review on my appointment next week. Also, are there no points earned for the visits themselves? Or maybe the dollars spent? Seems odd to only earn awards through reviews instead of the money spent there. Thanks, Danielle”. You never mentioned you were unsatisfied. Last year I charged you $70.00 for a Haircut (regular price for extra density $68.00) then you gave me $15.00 tip. Your hair is not normal Extra Density hair, it’s more than that. I even had to use another clients time to finish yours. Another high end salon will charge you $120 for a hairstyle. My prices are very clear on my website, it evens mention that this are just a starting price and they can change depending on the hair texture and/or condition. Very rarely I have to charge more than the price on the website. Not only your hair was extra, extra thick, but it was very damage since a haircut once a year is not the normal hair care routine. I have a waiting list of 3 weeks. I don’t even have enough time on my days to fit all the clients wanting to come to the salon. I have been blessed with a talent I can help people feel great about themselves. Your review was complaining about my talent and professionalism, why should I give that appointment to you when there is so many other clients trying to get in?? If your hair is not a priority and all you want is a basic plain haircut and not a style I recommend you to look for a Groupon salon. They are a few salons in the Triangle area that can cut your hair for even $20! I am very sorry my prices are outside your budget. I don't mean you can't afford it but maybe your priorities are not hair. Best of luck!"
On top of that, the total charges at the end were way more than I had been told in the beginning. I knew my hair was long and thick, so I had made a point of requesting the more expensive Extra-Long/Extra-Dense option when booking my appointment. However, when we were finished, the total he gave me was even higher! When I questioned it, he said my hair was REALLY long and REALLY thick, more so than I guess he was meaning for the Extra-Long/Extra-Dense appointment. He had obviously seen and felt my hair the second I sat down, so it's not like the length or thickness came at a shock later on, but he never said anything about it being more money. He just gave me the higher bill at the end when it was time to pay.
Months later, it was time for another cut. I considered going elsewhere, but my favorite stylist was on maternity leave and I didn't want to take the time to look around. Plus I rationalized that my hair wasn't as long or thick now so should be less expensive, and I would be more direct about what I wanted. I booked through the online system and the appointment was initially accepted. However, he didn't like the honest and very fair review I had given that summarized all the above (including giving him credit for the quality of the look itself,) so he subsequently cancelled the appointment and sent me an email to find a new stylist.
A true professional would have taken the feedback, acknowledged the points of dissatisfaction, and sought to improve the customer's experience. However, he is very far from professional. Look at his response to the other negative review of him on here (which has a lot of parallels to mine.) It's just as childish and unprofessional, blaming the client for their dissatisfaction and dismissing their opinion entirely ("I'm sure your hair looked great when you left.") He thinks that because of his experience, his opinion is all that matters, not his customers'. That's the very picture of someone just out to do what they want to do and collect the money for it, not any kind of interest in delivering a truly positive customer experience.
By all means, go to him if you have no actual request or a certain look in mind. But don't you dare say that you aren't thrilled with whatever result he decides to give you or you'll be insulted, banned, and have to witness an adult temper tantrum.

"I'm very sorry you had this experience. It has been almost a year since the last time you visited the salon... If you were not happy with your hair, why did you wait this long to let me know? I have been more than blessed with my clients! Everyone that visit my salon leaves more than satisfied with what I do and immediately let me know. Sorry you have been the one client that feel this way. If you are use to going to salons where the stylist talks all the time that's they place you need to keep going. My studio is more like a spa, it's for busy professionals to relax for 2 hours, that's why the calming music. I don't believe in gossiping with the client! Have you visited a salon in a city before? That's they style I bring to the Raleigh area. I'm very sure your hair looked amazing when you left my salon. Again, why did you not let me know before?"

"Thank you so much for the review!!"
"Thank You!"
His studio is beautiful, easy to park and to find, quiet and relaxing. It is your one on one time with the artist while he can, without interruption, look and listen and get a feel from his vast experience on what would work best with your lifestyle and your personal look and what will work with your hair type and skin tone.
There are too many people in this business locally who are limited in their skills and background. They follow a guideline of "Do No Harm" which often never gets you an optimal look but they don't have the sophisticated experience and exposure that Rodney has had.
Also, most hairdressers don't have the product knowledge of what is truly healthy to put on your hair. They claim they do but they are pushing products because their boss instructed them to do so because the margins are good and your bill will be higher.
They are also unaware of what hair products have been bought out by bigger giants and old formulas changed and claims of gentleness for your hair just don't represent the product anymore. Rodney keeps up with all of this.
Rodney has had exposure to the fashion industry and the hair industry that most hairdressers here just have never had and won't get those opportunities. That puts him light years in front of the competition.
"Thank you so much Cheryl! See you in a few weeks!"

"[Member Name Removed], sorry to hear you were not satisfied with your haircut. I can assure you the haircut I designed for you was appropriate for your complexion and age ... I have been doing this for 16 years and this is the first time someone is not happy with their hair. All my clients come to me looking for an upscale, classic but modern haircut. I don't do perms or any 70's or 80's styles (southern hair) if that's what you were looking for... Please, take some time and visit my website www.robledostudio.com, there you can read more reviews, look at before and afters and learn about my experience in the fashion industry."
