Right at Home Veterinary Care LLC

Due to the advanced age of my pets it is difficult and stressful for them to go to a remote vet so of course the convenience of a home visit is much appreciated. Vet is very nice and clearly is an animal lover. She was prompt and fairly well organized, however; she told me prior to making the appointment that the exam included one shot but when she learned they were up to date on rabies shot, she offered no alternative shot. She was too timid for us and my dogs are not at all aggressive or difficult. Perhaps if she had an examining table and a more authoritative demeanor my animals would have been more cooperative. As it was we ended up sitting on the floor with her desperately trying to draw blood. She took far too long positioning the tourniquet and needle insertion with virtually no hold on the leg and of course both dogs jerked and she had difficulty obtaining blood samples. The exam for the cat was pretty much a visual one as she was scared of my old gtumpy cat who can spot a pushover in s heartbeat. She was interested in their diet. I feed all meat, no grain, organic food with daily supplement of fish oil She criticized the food and especially the fish oil--much to my dismay. All in all, I felt I spent a lot of money for a very nice lady to come to my house, stay a long time (2 hours plus) , talk about my pets but do very little hands on examinstion. What she managed to do was with timidity, trepidation, and caution. I was probably not the best "assistant" but I felt compelled to help her as she had no control. My two dogs and one cat certainly made the must of her nervousness. In a vets office each is very cooperative, calm and respectful of the vet. I learned she trains animals for agility. Perhaps that is a better calling. So very nice, but frankly rather inept and I felt that my pets had very little in the way of a thorough exam. I think she is not well experienced yet and perhaps with more time she will excel. Certainly her heart is in the right place.

She was on time and first impression is that she is very knowledgeable. When we were unable to get all the goats to poop for parasite tests, instead of her waiting around we decided I'd collect it and she would swing by later to get it. As I expected she didn't charge me for that. I'm able to communicate with her via email which I like as it is easier for me to email while working. I received a report in my email on the health of my goats. I'm impressed and she's coming out again to do more work. I'll be using her as the primary vet for my animals in the future. The convenience of her coming out to the farm was well worth the very small fee she charged for the visit.
