We want our homes to be calm and restful. And we want to spend time on things that matter while connecting with those we love. But life is full of unexpected road blocks and challenges. The added frustration of a cluttered kitchen or not being able to find the car keys, a cooking utensil or our child’s tennis shoes can cause us to feel like a failure in our own home. At Perfectly Placed we will eliminate the clutter and find the perfect place for everything in your home so that you can focus on what matters most. We perform home and office organization as well as closet design in St. Louis and the surrounding areas. We are passionate about giving you a better quality of life by helping you declutter and teaching you systems to simplify your life. Your investment in our services is $65-$80 an hour, depending on the amount of hours you purchase.

It went great. She was pleasant to work with - VERY non-judgmental about my lack organization on this matter. She even categorized and labelled my voluminous bookshelf! The aftermath was that I realized that the space that I was trying to create in my basement and stuck on was not really what I wanted to do. So it really clarified things for me.
Description of Work: Susan helped me to organize a pile that had been sitting in my basement for over a year. Some of it garbage, so of it needed to be put in a container and on a shelf and some of needed to be taken to good will. She understood that this was not a situation I usually had as I'm fairly well organized but it was a block for me and with her hep, I was able to break through.

All went well--a lot was accomplished. Sorted all paperwork out into folders like "bills" - "needs action", labeled them; pitched unwanted stuff. Went through all the mail. Also made up some very helpful lists for reference. Susan was professional and I could tell she was very experienced. I was overwhelmed before she arrived. When she left I felt good about what was accomplished. I was very pleased and would highly recommend her.
Description of Work: Got me organized with my bills, mail and paperwork. Made good suggestions to help keep me organized in future.

She was awesome. I still use her. She came out as soon as I needed her. She gave me dates. It's probably more me. I've got three kids and a job. She was great and is great. I've probably spent $5000 with her after that. Perfectly Place is wonderful. Susan is terrific and is still part of our team.

She was very professional and did what she said she would. The only thing that was annoying was she did a lot of following up about setting the next appointment. Organizing is stressful for me so just a few follow ups would have been fine.

After almost six years in this house I finally have a functional walk-in closet versus the disorganized mess it was before. I even have a place for my purses (of which I have many). She analyzed the space, asked my needs and quickly figured out a configuration that would work and that was very cost effective. I was able to pick up the additional shelving I needed at Target and by that night, I had a perfectly organized closet. As someone who has a very hard time keeping my home spaces organized, I can say that my closet looks as good today as the first day we got it put together. My husband is amazed as well! We definitely plan to use Susan's services again in the future.
Description of Work: This was an Angie's List Deal for 3 hours of professional organizing for $180. We decided to use it to organize my extremely messy and disorganized walk-in closet. The closet simply wasn't functional for me.

Susan was very professional and took the time to ask questions about what was, and what was not working. She did a great job on helping me set up an organizing system that is easy to use. She had a lot of ideas to help maximize my storage space, and offered some creative solutions to problem areas. Susan even came equipped with some basic organizing items that I was able to purchase and she put in place while she was there. She did a great job!
Description of Work: Susan helped me set up a system for sorting papers, organized a dresser full of junk drawers, and a created a kitchen work station. Also, helped to design a more efficient recycle system.

Susan arrived promptly, and asked me some questions about exactly what I wanted to do, and told me how she could help me towards my goal of getting rid of a lot of clutter that had accumulated in over thirty years of living in my house! She was able to select a starting point, and although she showed me everything that she was going to pitch or place in a donation or a save pile, I could not have made so much progress in three hours as she did! She told me who to call to get rid of some large items that I could not move out myself, and really helped me to think about the things that I might want to keep, and decide whether or not I really needed them. By the time our three hours were over, I could really see some progress had been made, and I had definite ideas about how to continue on my own. I will probably contact her again after I have made some headway following her suggestions, and have her help me with the final pushes! I was very pleased with the service.
Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal from Angie's List several months ago to get three hours of help from a professional organizer to help me reduce the clutter in my basement. Naturally, I thought I would do some preliminary cleaning in the meantime, but that did not happen. Fortunately, Susan Stewart of Perfectly Placed Organization was able to put me at my ease to help me see how I could actually make some progress and remove a lot of things easily, either through the trash route, or by donation.

Susan assessed my home, listened to my current life situation, made some suggestions and then we worked on de-cluttering one room.
Description of Work: Susan returned my message right away, had a flexible schedule and was right on time for our appointment. Wish we could have spent more time 'doing' vs talking but I understand she needs to get my story so she can understand the best way to motivate and help me. We managed to go through one room although not completed, it was a start.

Susan was punctual, and when she arrived, she did an initial review of our entire living space, explained her process, and then jumped right in to organizing our kitchen, which is the space on which we wanted to focus. She immediately identified underutilized areas and put them to better use (e.g., she suggested that a large cabinet being used for recycling and storage was better suited for pots and baking sheets -- a suggestion that was spot on). She was also great about helping us get rid of excess items in a polite and non-threatening way (instead of taking us to task for having 25 mugs for just two people, she asked, ?Is there a reason you need more than 10 mugs?? Answer: no -- and we haven?t missed the other 15. The same holds true with mismatched wine glasses that didn?t belong to our full set.). She established and labeled permanent homes for everything in the kitchen and grouped like-items together. She also made specific recommendations for what organizing items we should buy and where and how they should be used. The effectiveness of her system has been proven in the months since she came. In that time, we?ve been able to keep the kitchen organized and clutter-free very easily ? the counter stays clear on a consistent basis, and we can find all of our kitchen items, even seldom used ones, quickly. We are planning to have Susan back after the holidays ? the time we have saved on cleaning, organizing, and looking for items, as well as the reduction in the general stress caused by a disorganized kitchen, has been more than worth the cost of her services, and we?re looking forward to having her improve other challenging areas of our home.

Susan Stewart met me at my home office at the exact scheduled time. We spent the first 15 minutes or so discussing my vision for my office, what I wanted to accomplish that day, etc. We then went to work. The next 3 hours flew by. When we were finished, it looked like I had a new office. Everything was in its place. The whole process wasn't painful at all (which I was afraid it might be.) After we were finished Susan went over the services she offers and her pricing structure. She is very reasonable in that she gets a tremendous amount accomplished in the time allotted. I am EXTREMELY happy with Susan Steward and Perfectly Placed.
Description of Work: Prior to Susan's arrival, my office looked like a bomb had gone off inside. Papers were on the floor, stuffed in boxes, etc. Within 3 hours, my office looked perfectly organized.

It was a great experience. She accomplished in three hours what I couldn't even get started on by myself.

Susan came precisely at the the appointed time and was very professional. We started with a tour of how our home is currently organized and focused most of our efforts in the basement activity room. Susan had great ideas and was even willing to help us implement them. I would highly recommend Susan for anyone that needs ideas on how to get better organized.

In 2 visits, Susan worked with me to make my overflowing 2 car garage that barely fit 1 can, into a more organized and purged space that I am no longer embarressed to have viewed from the street. I needed her physical assistance and organizing skills to put things into logical locations, and she was very open to making changes based on my vision. Even when the 2nd visit meant making changes to what we did on day 1. I'm certain she experience frustration with my lack of willingness to remove everything! She was constantly engrossed in purging and organizing catagories, even if I had to run off to do something else. The stress I felt every time that garage door opened is now GONE! Alot of stuff still in there, but looks great and should be able to squeeze 2 cars now! I will contact Susan again for other areas of the house in the future that still need work.

She was amazing. I stopped the mess before it happened with her help!! And I am no longer stressed about finding the right furniture and the right paint colors! Many great and useful tips!
Description of Work: Helped me design my closet and bedroom. Picked out colors for the inside of the house. Tips on using and finishing cheap, useful but durable shelves to make my closet. Overall, it was a eye opening and emotionl experience fo me. I really wanted to clean the mess, but i did not really want to part with some of my items. Having to choose between things to keep or things to let go of was trying. Susan was sensitive to my worries and we wold talk about the usefulness of the item. This help me to make decissions. I am glad we organized the mess but i must admit, not shpping for things for the student is difficult. I need to manage my dollar store impulse. I am glad i used Susan's service. It was the best idea i've had this year. Working on this project myself was not going to happen and i appreciated her perspective in organizational style.
Description of Work: Susan took pictures of my basement before and after service. I told her my basement was a small version of hoarders. She said she could handle it. Together we seperated, boxed and labeled my items. We changed my basement from a cluttered mess, to a room i could use. It was nice to finally see the floor again. I am a new teacher and i have collected from others for years. I shop often and find items to teach with everywrere. My favorite store is the dollar store. Susan arrived promptly at our scheduled time. I showed her around my house so she could get a feel of the issues where I needed the most help. My biggest issue was my "laundry problem". I have a husband and 3 little girls, ages 8, 7, and 5 so we have big issue dealing with the laundry. I have a nicely sized storage closet in my upstairs hallway that works perfectly for dirty laundry. We found 4 laundry baskets and labeled them "darks", "lights", "delicates", and "towels and sheets". Then while I worked on going through the laundry that had accumulated in my room, she got to work helping each one of my daughters go through their clothes. She worked with each girl individually and found a drawer system that worked for each one of them. Once we decided that all of their shirts and dresses should be hung up in their closets, she labeled their drawers, and helped them put all of their clothes in their proper places. She even helped them purge! She set aside anything that looked as if it could be given or thrown away and let me know that it was completely up to me how to handle them. She even asked my daughters first, to see if they were attached to anything that she thought should go. Once they each had a pile of dirty laundry she taught them to which basket each article of clothing belonged. Then we got to work on the laundry room itself. She told me that if I had one basket for each of the girls and labled them, it would make emptying the dryer much more efficent. She was right. Now if I take a basket of dirty clothes from the upstairs closet, throw it in the washer before I go to work, I can switch the load to the dryer when I get home at night. When emptying the dryer, I put all of the girls' clothes in the proper basket. When they are ready, I ask each girl to put away their own clothes. With Susan's great system, they have no trouble at all knowing where their clothes go. Even my 5 year old can put away all of her clothes by herself. One thing that really helped my youngest was having a low enought closet bar so she could reach it. Now they all feel extremely proud of themselves and I have much less stress in my life! What a difference just 3 hours of her time did for us as a family. I just can't say enough great things about Susan. She was very knowledgeable, very patient and such an amazing organizer. She even followed up with me in the next week to see if everything was going well and if I had any questions for her. She also has a website that offers inexpensive teleclasses. I will be signing up for one or two of them for sure.
Description of Work: Susan helped implement a laundry system that enabled the whole laundry process work much more smoothly, including lableing drawers and laundry baskets and helped organize my storage closet.

Description of Work: She was very helpful with uncluttering my "store-all" room. My store-all has been my store-all for years. I learned a lot from her - you either, throw it away, donate it, or keep it only if you need it. Those three things I have finally learned. She also has classes for organization, or learning. We both have been in the state of Nebraska. She does have you yourself decide what goes where.

Overall the experience with Susan at Perfectly Placed was extremely positive. She is so pleasant and friendly it was like having a very knowledgable friend over. She worked quickly and efficiently and guided me in the right direction. Susan left me with a task of putting things away, after we sorted them into boxes. She also helped me identify modular storage products that I could purchase to help me with my sorting needs.
Description of Work: I moved a year ago. I had one room that I tried to organize but my idea didn't work. I froze. As a result, that room never did get organized. In fact it became a dumping ground for other stuff. Susan came over and sat down with me to understand my needs. She looked around my entire condo to see if there were other solutions. None were found. Susan helped me sort through everything in the room to determine what should be there, what should be disposed of and what should be placed into other rooms. She is extremely personable, professional and efficient.

Overall this was a truly fantastic experience. I can't thank Susan enough. She did a fantastic job in a very short time. My wife and I had tackled the project several times but hadn't got very far. My wife was very pleased with the final outcome. Her price was very reasonable and there was no additonal charge. We decided to give her something extra for the excellent job she did for us. Description of Work: Susan arrived promptly at our appointed time. She briefed me on what she would do and let me know that I was required to assist. She began with sorting everything in the garage and placing them into general groups and then we sorted them into smaller groups. My wife arrived later for the Big Reveal after we finished but, was impressed with the major improvement we had made in such a short time. Susan Stewart is wonderful. Her personality is upbeat and she is very kind. She is also very good and efficient at what she does. She came to our home several times, with 'homework' given in between visits. This kept us accountable and moving forward. We called Susan to help us set up systems for incoming mail at home and for ways to keep us from drowning in paperwork in our office. She asked us questions about our styles and she found ways to unite me and my husband in keeping order. (She used a bit of psychology in a way that drew us together and helped us work as a team....something that we sorely needed so I as the wife didn't feel like I was doing it all). First we set up easy systems for incoming mail and other papers. We then moved on to our office. There she gave us guidelines about what to purge and what to save. After we did this on our own, she helped with a system that really works well. It takes a bit of time to adjust but we find that her systems work very well. We have reduced our clutter dramatically, and we have all of our necessary home materials in one drawer! Susan is never judgemental but she is very encouraging when I was feeling overwhelmed or ashamed of the clutter in our office. Her kind way helped me overcome those feelings and move on into something better. Susan helped me straighten out my music studio. She has great suggestions. One of the things I liked about her is that she used things I already had on hand. She did not force expensive purchases where unnecessary. She gave me suggestions for improving my business, everything from a better filing system to advertising for more students. We are taking a break now, but I cannot wait to begin on other projects in the house with her. I highly recommend Susan Stewart and her company!
