They did an excellent job, you can't see a wire anywhere and everything was exactly where it was supposed to be. They were in and out in about 5 hours and the price was spot on from the estimate.

Great experience from start to finish. I submitted a request for an estimate online and received a call to schedule a meeting within 5 minutes of hitting 'send' (literally). Stafford was the first of seven bids I collected for the job and theirs was the most detailed and reasonable of all seven. Their approach to the process, combined with an already long list of glowing reviews on Angie's List, gave me a lot of confidence in their services going into the job. They performed the work exactly as described. They arrived on time, finished the work exactly within the window they had forecast and with no surprises on equipment or cost. I work from my home office and had been concerned about possible disruptions due to the installers being on site, but each of the installers was respectful of my work situation and made every effort to minimize noise during the work day, to the extent possible. They were also very respectful of all my requests for completing specific aspects of the install, e.g. where to place the condensing unit, how to route the wiring and drain, etc. Since completing the work Stafford has scheduled and completed a follow-on inspection. After a Summer of extreme temperatures I'm pleased to report that the system has worked flawlessly. No issues at all. My house maintained extremely comfortable temperatures and humidity levels throughout the Summer. I couldn't be happier with the work and would not only use Stafford again but would also recommend their services.

Air conditioner stopped cooling and ice started forming outside. Called Stafford at 4:30pm and they were on-site at 9:00am the next morning. Ran diagnostics and serviced the unit. They added some coolant and we changed the air filter. Problem solved. They were prompt, professional. Would recommend and would call them again.

A team of 2 arrived right on time. Both were very professional. I told them what we needed done and they provided an estimate. One got started on the light and fan replacements while the other investigated the power loss issues we were having.Replacements: He protected the work areas and cleaned up after.Troubleshooting: checked breaker and power levels. Found some wiring issues which were fixed. Determined that the source of brownouts was from the utility and provided reading numbers that I could pass on to the power company.Would use again and have already recommended them to family.

, Stafford was absolutely amazing! They responded right away to our inquiries and answered all the questions that we had. They came out on time to our estimate and were very courteous. Again they were good about answering any questions we may have about our project, in person, since naturally more arose. We own a 1955 house complete with the original fuse box! So we wanted to update it to actual breakers. We also had all of our outlets upgraded from two prong to three (as well as some GFCIs), some hanging lightbulbs re-secured, and a bathroom fan put in. I really liked how they broke down each charge on their estimate, it was really helpful to see if we could "trim" some areas out. They even threw in a free surge protector for the house! That was great, and we really appreciated it on top of the coupon we were already using. We had a couple other contractors come out and none were as impressive nor as professional. One even wanted us to call him back with what Stafford was offering, and the gist of what he said was "go with them, I can't provide price match that low." When they arrived to do their work they were on time, and completed their job in the one day estimate they gave. They did amazing work, and cleaned up after themselves-- you could barely tell they had been there! I really appreciated that they asked our permissionbefore just going ahead and doing the job. We had a two prong outlet in the kitchen that we didn't want changed and they called to double check. They were also good about informing us they had removed part of the ceiling panels in the basement, but put them back. We couldn't even tell which ones they had disrupted. I would definitely recommend Stafford! And when we do some more work in the future, we won't even have to look elsewhere.

The representative, Jason, was great! He understood what I wanted and communicated clearly. I had tried several other home stereo types and they all tried to up sell me and seemed to not understand what I wanted. Until I met Jason I thought I was going to have to do it myself. He used his knowledge and skill to help me achieve what I wanted and it was fun! The other services made it so much more work and more expensive. Thanks Jason!!!

Each of my experiences with the Stafford team have been very positive. Their team members are personable and quite pleasant to work with. They have been respectful of myself, my home, and my pets. They leave my home and property in good condition and clean when they are done working. Their work has been quite good too. They were able to sort out many of the electrical mysteries I inherited with my new house, which has given me better peace of mind. All of the lighting, cable and phone in my house is now in good shape. The new furnace and air conditioning has also been working very well. The electrical inspector that came out was very pleased with their work and commented that he has seen several good examples of their work in the field. I would definitely recommend Stafford Home Service to others and have hire them again myself for future work.
Description of Work: I have hired Stafford Home Service four times during the fall and winter of 2011. Initially, I had them out to install new outlets for an electric range and an electric dryer. On their next visit, they ran cable and phone lines to every room of the house. The thrid job I hired them for was to investigate several switches that did nothing and fix or remove a couple loose wires. In addition, they added several light switches and installed new light fixtures. The last job I hired them for, was to replace my furnace and air conditioning unit.

Excellent work from start to finish. On time and worked straight through to completion.
Description of Work: Glenn of Stanford Electric was on time and followed the quoted items exactly. Our project ran from 7:30 a.m. to after 4:00 p.m. and he worked straight through. He was courteous and respectful of our home cleaning up all signs of the work performed. We have a house built in 1940 and we upgraded the electic service to bring it up to code. This included a new 30 circuit panel, updating three exterior outlets, updating kitchen outlets and adding 9 basement outlets and a whole house surge protector. Would certainly use again and already recommended to our son-in-law.

I Contacted Stafford based on excellent reviews on Angie's List to install a ceiling fan in the bedroom. Needed existing plastic electrical box replaced with metal ceiling fan box and ceiling fan installed. Attempted to receive an estimate for this over the phone as one other highly rated electrician on Angie's List had done this for me. Was told they don't do that but instead make an appt. to come out, give an estimate while in the home and then go ahead with the work if the est. is acceptable. I pressed for an "idea" of cost as I told the Stafford person I couldn't waste time meeting an electrician for an est. if it wasn't going to be in the ballpark. She did give me a rough idea which seemed reasonable so I made an appt. for them to come. The next available date was almost 2 weeks away but I took it asking for the first call of the day as I would need to stay home from work to meet them. She told me she would put me down for the 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. time window. The day before the appointment, I received a call confirming the 8 a.m. - 9 a.m. time window. I did ask if it could be closer to 8 a.m. and was told she couldn't guarantee that but it would be between 8 and 9. I told her I would be here. The next morning I waited for the electrician as 9 a.m. passed. No show. At 9:15 a.m. I called the Stafford office thinking there may have been a mistake made. No answer as the phone went to an automated system and finally routed me to voice mail. I left a message asking where the electrician was wondering if a mistake had been made. About 5 minutes later I received a call from the electrician who informed me he was "just finishing up his first job" and would be leaving for my home shortly. He seemed surprised when I told him I had an 8-9 time window and he was late. I told him I'd appreciate him arriving as soon as possible as I was taking time off from work for this. He arrived at approx. 10 a.m. Not a good start. I explained what I wanted done. He looked things over and opened a three ring binder to find pricing for the work I wanted done. He struggled finding the price and kept paging through the notebook looking. I would have thought this was a very common installation... remove existing box... install new box... install ceiling fan... but he struggled. I was surprised he wasn't better prepared. I had clearly explained when I set the appt. what I wanted done. Finally he got the pricing together and told me $105 for the box installation... $105 for the fan installation plus their standard $59 flat rate charge. No one had told me about an extra flat rate charge so that was an unpleasant surprise. I voiced my displeasure. He then suggested he could charge me by the hour as that might be cheaper. At that point, I really just wanted to get this over, so I had him go ahead and asked for my Angie's List 10% discount. He said he could take 10% off everything except the $59 flat rate charge. I guess that $59 isn't considered a service thus no discount. I also asked if he would use the existing electrical box kit I had already purchased and subtract that off the price. He just didn't know how much to reduce the estimate by and said he would rather I returned the box and get my money back from where I purchased it. Then he said something very odd... he didn't even know if they had provided him with a fan box kit and he would have to go out to the truck to see. Wow... I'm thinking how could you go out on a ceiling fan installation and not have the electrical box? Well, he came back with the box so he did have one... same as the one I already had. He went to work and covered everything in the room with drop cloths. I was also appreciative of the plastic booties he covered his shoes with. I checked progress off and on as he worked. He got the box installed and then went to work on the fan. At some point he came and got me and showed me the fan canopy that covers the ceiling box wasn't wide enough to cover the hole in the ceiling. Unfortunately, he had widened the hole in the ceiling and made it too big. He explained to me the fan canopy is usually wider than this one. What would he like me to do? I asked him to manipulate things so the canopy would cover most of the hole. I also asked him to fill the space around the box with insulation of some sort as there was a fair amount of space between the box and the ceiling. He told me he had some with and would. Once he had everything installed he showed me he had caulked around the box so there wouldn't be open space between the canopy and ceiling. I would only need to touch things up with some paint. He showed me the fan was operating and demonstrated it at the lowest speed. All seemed OK. He brought in a shop vac and cleaned up nicely. No mess was left. He completed the job at 12:30 p.m. and told me I got quite a bargain considering how long it took him. I won't comment on that. After he left I tried the fan. At the two highest speeds there was a fair amount of wobble. I'm not certain if the installation should have included balancing the fan, but it wasn't done and I wasn't calling them back. I used the kit that came with the fan and eliminated the wobble. I did receive an email from the scheduler at Stafford apologizing for missing the time window telling me it was her fault as she should have mentioned sometimes they can be late. I guess that confused me more. Why give a 1 hour time window if sometimes you're going to be late. I might suggest to them a 2 hour window. I do understand that things can happen but at any rate, if the time window can't be kept, a courtesy call would be in order. Overall though this wasn't a great experience... late arrival, hassle with pricing, mishap with too large a hole in ceiling, fan wobble and 2 1/2 hours at my home for the installation. Update... owner Kris contacted me and sincerely apologized for the service I received. He refused to charge me for the services performed and offered 2 hours of additional services at no charge. I told Kris this was not necessary, but he insisted. I told him I would think about it. I needed a TV antenna installed on my house, so I took Kris up on his offer. The service I received couldn't have been better. Jason contacted me and we set an appt. for the install for 7 a.m. Aug 31st. He recommended an antenna which I did purchase. At 7 a.m. Jason was in my driveway ready to go. He's a very nice guy who knows what he's doing. He had the antenna installed and stations scanned into my TV in 90 minutes. I couldn't be happier. This is impressive service from Kris and Jason. They made up for a marginal first experience. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. Thanks for making things right Kris!

I made the appointment for 8 am on Monday and they were on site exactly on time. They investigated the issue and determined the most likely cause (circuit board shorting out in furnace). The estimate was dead on, the work was completed exactly as communicated and the problem was completely fixed. They totally professional all throughout the process and could not have been nicer.

I received an estimate that was detailed enough to select the final elements that I wanted to include in the work. The estimate and the final product did not change the cost to me. They arrived as scheduled and completed the work in one day. There was no remaining trash or dust, everything was spotless. Even my comforter after they worked on lighting over my bed.
Description of Work: Stafford came in and ran some new circuits for some problem areas of my older home. That circuit that kept breaking was split into three different circuits. They also separated a ceiling fan onto a separate switch to allow it to run without the lights on. And they cleaned up some wiring from some remodeling by the homeowner (a removed wall that is still raw). They did a fantastic job.

My boyfriend and I figured out the problem before Stafford came, but we decided to have him still come out and confirm and to check our AC out (our coils had frozen, we didn't give the AC time to thaw out, so it was cooling, but minimally). We figured this out on the 4th of July and figured since it was the holiday we shouldn't cancel our appt. I should note that I had called Tuesday the 3rd afternoon and was able to get an appt the 5th first thing. I'm glad we didn't. Our service guy (Tom? sorry, can't remember) was punctual, friendly, approachable, knowledgeable and efficient. He listed to us and although we had figured it out, he still wanted to take a look and do a tune up. It was time for one anyway, and I would imagine other HVAC services would have still charged me labor and not done too much or anything at all had they known we figured it out. We were also really satisfied with the price of service - a few places had quoted me much higher. And after he left, the house cooled down even more and our energy usage seems to have gone down significantly. We'd like to use Stafford again for some other services in the future.

We bought the Angie's List Big Deal offered in January for two hours of AV services for $125. We had had a speaker system installed for our home theatre several years ago and wanted to add instant streaming and fix some complicated wiring issues. When we contacted Stafford, Jason said he could do the estimate and installation in one visit. We wanted to check ratings on any new equipment we needed to purchase, so we asked Jason to come check our system, give recommendations, and do an estimate first and then come back in a couple days after we'd decided what equipment we wanted. He agreed to come on April 16. He recommended sticking with a Sony Blu-ray player because our other equipment is Sony and adding a universal remote. I checked Sony reviews online and we decided on a model. On April 17, Jason sent out an estimate that included a Samsung player and universal remote, but it didn't reach my husband's email until the next day and he didn't see it till late in the day. We OKd the estimate and raised a question about the Samsung. Jason said we could work out the model detail when he came the next day. When he arrived, Jason had a Samsung model because that's what was in his truck, but it wasn't the model on the estimate. When I stopped him and asked about it, he said it would work fine. I told him I wanted to check the ratings before he installed it, and he waited patiently. I found that the ratings were mediocre, we talked it over, and he offered to go to Best Buy to get the Sony we had decided on, with no additional charges to us. We agreed. But when he got there, they didn't have it. He called us, suggested a different model they had, and we agreed. He came back, installed it, fixed the wiring, and trained us how to use the new equipment. We got rid of our VCR, but wanted to keep our old 5-disc DVD player for audio CDs. He set it up. We ran into one small problem later learning to use the equipment, but Jason talked us through it easily. Another unexpected problem had to do with our wi-fi network. The passcode I had set up for the network wasn't working, so Jason had to go on my computer to redo the settings so he could get the Blu-ray player to access the network for instant streaming. This took a long time and proved to be complicated. Jason was clearly a little frustrated, but contained it. In the end, everything worked fine. Stafford honored the original estimate in spite of the extra time and expense involved. I know from experience that anything involving computers can involve unexpected problems that can be tough to resolve. What really struck us was how gracious and totally professional Jason was through the entire process. Even though the switch in Blu-ray models made us wary, how he responded to our expectations was exemplary. He was wonderful to work with, and we'd hire him again in a flash. If his professionalism is typical of Stafford employees, they are an extraordinary company. Although we hadn't planned on it originally, we're also glad Jason recommended the universal remote. We love it. We're also atching much more streamed video now and being more selective about our viewing instead of the awful stuff that is most of TV fare these days. Initally, I thought to rate our overall experience a B because of the issue about the Blu-ray player, but Stafford really earned an A.

I was fortunate to get service the same day I called. Peggy seemed to care about my problem. I know they are in the business of making money but she didn't come across that way. Peggy was able to work in my time fame and get a tech out that afternoon. George called after 4 PM and said he was on his way. He gave a time estimate and came very close to it. George asked what was happening and diagnosed our problem. He then went straight to work. He got the blockage cleared and tested the whole A/C system. He answered questions gave advise when asked. I couldn't be happier with my experience with Stafford Home Services and their personnel. I will be calling them if I run into something I cannot do myself.
Description of Work: A/C evaporator was deiced. Freon pressure was checked. Temperature levels were checked. Unit operation was checked.

Working with this company was an exceptional experience! The estimator, Kris, arrived promptly and gave a thorough and very reasonable bid. We needed the work done soon to allow for painting and they worked us in immediately. The electrician, Glen, arrived on time and performed the work in a highly professional manner. He was here for 4 hours. Despite outside temperatures near 100, he worked outside as needed and went into an even hotter attic to rewire the pendants. He was very precise and measured carefully. He pointed out that the lights needed to be hung at different lengths so the eye would see them as even because the rooms floor sloped . He then reworked the cords until the lights look equal. He was personable throughout and cleaned up carefully after his work. We would recommend Glen and this company to anyone and will use them again and again for any electrical needs we may have.
Description of Work: Removal of old standard bathroom wall lights and instillation of 3 pendant lights. Removal of 2 outside lights and instillation of new fixtures.

It was amazing! I couldn't be more pleased. When my condo was built, no electrical was installed in the ceilings. In addition, the ceilings are concrete so all the lighting had to be exposed. I drew a rough sketch of the rooms in advance, including the locations of the outlets and switches. The two other electricians I called spent 15-20 minutes looking at the rooms, then provided email bids. Kris from Stafford spent an hour or more figuring out a clean design that would hide the electrical in my closets. At one point, when he had a question about the city code, he called the inspector on the spot to verify. He wrote up the bid so I could review and ask questions. After I accepted the bid, he arranged another visit with the lighting distributor, Roger, from Citilights Lighting. They went over the design again, this time with Roger's input. Roger was experienced and offered suggestions and options. During this meeting I learned that Kris has an artist's sense of design (not my strong suit, but really important to me). At one point, when it became apparent that he couldn't use the same lighting system for both the livingroom and the master bedroom without compromising the quality of the design, he scrapped the plans and started over. I was willing to live with separate systems for each room but Kris didn't think it would look good and he was right, even though it meant more work for them. Roger was great at providing suggestions and links to light fixtures and ceiling fan options. Then another meeting with Kris, Roger and Steve, the lead installer, the Friday before the installation, to go over the design and inventory. On Monday, Steve and his crew arrived in three vans -- early and on time. My condo is downtown and has virtually no parking accommodations for workers. For two days they found street parking and plugged the meters without a word of complaint. They were wizards at their jobs! They contorted themselves to access a closet that was barely wide enough to hold a stacked washer and dryer. They accessed my circuit breaker to install the ceiling fan in a back bedroom and somehow threaded the wires behind the walls and around corners. In the end, I had no patching to do. They put one small hole above my kitchen cabinets which they covered with a switch plate, which they told me they would need to do. They even positioned each light fixture so I wouldn't have to adjust them. It was a flawless experience. I got 100% value for the cost. The result is a work of art!
Description of Work: Installed track lighting in walk-in closet. Installed ceiling fan in bedroom. Installed monorail light system in living room and master bedroom.

They did a very good job. I was very pleased with them, and I would recommend them. Their price was higher then I thought it would be, but it was worth it.
Description of Work: I used Stafford Home Service to do electrical work on the pond, put up a television, and to fix lights for me.

Called the service for repair of very old AC unit on one side of a duplex Upon review it became very clear that significant repairs were needed to restore it to working condition but all options were presented. We knew there was a high likelihood that replacement may be needed. The estimate for replacement was very reasonable. I inquired about how much it would cost to install a new unit on the other side of the duplex which didn't have a unit and would need additional electrical and drainage work. The bid for both of them was extremely fair. I was presented with several pricing options detailing the differences but was assured that even the lowest cost products were guarenteed and of good quality. We agreed on a price and when asked about an Angies' list discount, the price was reduced again. We were told that it would be ~ 3 weeks before they could be installed and I pressed that with the recent hot weather, was it possible to get the installation expedited? He arranged to have it installed on the next Saturday. When the installation date appraoched, he contacted me to say that he could even get started a day earlier and the project was completed on time. We could not be there for the installation and they were extremely accomodating and very conscious of the security of the property when they were there and after they left.I had one follow-up question after it was installed. I e-mailed them in the evening and promptly received a call back within ~10 min. Question was resolved on the spot.Would definitely use this service again!
